I was also glad that there were no zombie pre-schoolers in hiding. This is a fun show. By it's very nature, it has plenty of opportunity to go over the top and become a parody of itself, but so far the writers have avoided this and stayed true to the 'realistic' tone that has been set. No fake heroics where the cavalry shows up just in time and lots of regular cast members killed off. It is a main strength of the show that anyone can be killed off with little or no warning. If the writing stays away from the obvious and predictable, this show can run for a while. -- Al
Agree completely. One thing about the character deaths though. A main reason to watch a show is the characters. At some point, if they keep dying off, it becomes less interesting, because one no longer has a vested interest in their fate. Kind of like a pro team that trades a lot without much homegrown talent. Loyalty to a team or show is based on caring about what happens to the people. I mean zombie kills are cool but are not enough by themselves to keep me coming back.
I can't see them ever killing off Rick, but I suppose the rest are somewhat disposable. Another aspect is that the potential for a characters death probably makes the actors much less likely to dispute their pay levels. Charlie sheen would have been eaten after the first week Probably good for show profitability.
