The Walking Dead, season 3 and Comicbook Men........ (1 Viewer)

There must be a story trope of leaving really bad guys alive, like Merle, for the sake of the plot. Inspector Javert from Les Miserables , Dolokhov, (from War and Peace) and Count Saknussem from Journey to the Center of the Earth (1959) would have been killed immediately in "real life", not forgetting Gollum and Saruman.

Last night's episode #10 was a very good one, IMO. Liked all the action and the interplay between characters was interesting. And the Guv'ner doesn't disappoint. It's really on now! Like the way the Merle character appears to be going and the (semi-spoiler alert!) loss of [name deleted] came suddenly and surprised me. All in all a very good show. -- Al

I was watching it last night and up until the action started I thought it was a bit of a snooze fest. The last 20 minutes were great though !

Just when I was starting to like Lew Temple's character. The prisoners in this show are like the guys in red shirts on Star Trek.

They are, in the immortal words of Ed Grimley, "Doomed as doomed can be." ^&grin -- Al

Whew! I was worried after the first episode of 2013, but not anymore. Ep #2 was a strong showing by TWD, definitely. The Governor needs to die, and maybe kept alive as a zombie for a bit, just for fun!

Recorded the second episode during the week to watch tonight.......sounds like things have kicked off again in a good way, phew thank goodness, it was starting to get a bit tame for my liking....:tongue:

Having now watched the 2 episode......could be Rick's about to release a 'can of whip-***' on the Governa.{eek3}

Yeah, I think the group needs to bust out of jail and hit the road, meet new people, see new places. The man and his son you refer to, from the very first episode, I kinda just figured they bought the farm, since daddy decided to pick off zombies from the second floor of the house they were holed up in. All those gunshots to attract his wife so he could put her down, must have brought zombies from everywhere. It was that very first episiode that was so gripping that made me a fan. -- Al
Last night's episode sure proved this theory wrong. Thought the episode was pretty good as Carl continues to develope, and, finally, the Samurai Warrior got to do something besides irritate me. All in all, a pretty good episode. Really like the way the writers don't cop out on the group's attitude towards other people. Not a one of the three in the SUV said a thing about leaving the wayward traveller behind. At least they ended up with a new backpack. -- Al

Last nights episode was one of the best of the series. I had a feeling it was Morgan from the beginning. The backpacker was classic.

And no Andrea or the Guv! Both of whom have overstayed their welcome in my opinion. I gather they will make a big comeback in the next episode though. I just like zombies and survival without any of the typical TV storylines involving a villain and showdown. Hollywood folks can't let it go. They have to ruin a good story with that nonsense. That's why every recent war movie has to have a romantic storyline.

A wonderful sick joke it was.

As the group was leaving Lenny-land, I told my wife that if I was writing the script, they would find the hiker as Zombie food. US CREATIVE TYPES must be born twisted.^&grin Michael

Not sure I'm onboard with Rick's even considering the Guv's offer. Everything about Rick's personality, up to this point, should have had him vehemently refusing to even hear such an offer. Don't get the sudden reversal. Writers played the face-off well, as I kept expecting it to explode. -- Al

The Rick in the book would not...but these writers are not going by the book ^&grin.Michael

Spoiler!

The show broke the trope of kids making out and NOT getting killed. Maggie and Glenn's make-up.

Lets hope the next episode gets real messy and the Guv'ner loses his other eye and becomes the main course at another zombie picnic{sm3}

This is how bad I am into a real Zombie Appocalypse {sm3}, when they started the makeout, I screamed{eek3} at the TV screen about how irresponsible they were to abandon the watch for bad guys:mad:. My first thought was the Guv's army was going to breach the prison because of them. :( Michael
