Noah had to be the most depressing, spiritually repressive movie, I have ever seen. Felt ,watching it was a sin needing to be confessed..^&grinMichael

Couldn't agree with you more Michael, felt like I needed a shower or some kind of confessional after watching Noah, Yiks!!

Weekend Box Office:
Among new releases, .......Russell Crowe’s directorial debut “The Water Diviner” bowed to $1.2 million
from 320 theaters. Warner Bros. is distributing “The Water Diviner” and doesn’t plan to expand the
theater count beyond its current number for the foreseeable future.

“This was always supposed to be a small niche film, so our plan is to just go slowly,” said
Jeff Goldstein, Warner Bros. distribution executive vice president.

Good movie. How Crowe allowed himself to be involved in that mess called "NOAH" I don't know.I prefer to think of his good efforts-think "Gladiator","Master and Commander","A Beautiful Mind" etc.

Your right Tony, Master and commander was great and started me on years of Napoleonic Nautical adventures, who knew there were so many great historical fiction novels, I'm currently 5 novels into Dewey Lambdins Alan Lewrie series, great high seas and sailing adventure!

Hi,
I agree with nmrocks, I reckon Jack Aubrey in Master and commander was Russell Crowe's best role. He really nailed the part of a British Frigate captain of the Napoleonic wars.

Mark,
Hard to understand why it was on such a limited cinema release in US/UK as was a good movie with a storyline to appeal to all family members.
Am sure it could have got much better ticket sales if opened up to wider audience.

I agree with you Brett. The only reason I can think of is that maybe they had a deal with Comcast Cable over here.Comcast is huge and a lot of movies are on it when they are released at the movies. This one wasn't but over here yo can buy a movie on Comcast and put it in your digital library instead of getting a DVD.

Mark,
Seems like they were not serious. There was good money behind the movie (ie. owner of a TV channel and James Packer who you may know as the new boyfriend of Mariah Carey - Packer paid De Niro, Decaprio and Scorcese U$70 million just to promote his casinos). It was shown on normal TV here very soon after release.
If I was Crowe I would have been disappointed did not get wider audience. Box office according to Wiki been quite low.

Watched this the other day and was very impressed with it, especially the first 2/3 of the film. Didn't quite buy the fleeing cross-country from the Greeks but the film was well made and very emotional in parts. I quite liked the Turkish side of the story and was impressed by the detail of animosity between the erstwhile enemies so soon after the war. Good show. -- Al

I did not realize the greeks and the turks fought for 4 years after the end of the ww1 and the fall of the ottoman empire. I liked the movie, a decent pace and a few battle scenes thrown in...

But again, it did not do well at the box office. It is one of my favorite movies and I think it is great, but cost to revenue it was a big disappointment. Means there will be no others. Such a shame.

I just saw this show up on OnDemand over here. Never heard of it before (but that may have been to a new baby arriving a couple of months ago.) Now I really want to watch it.

Thanks for pointing this out.

Missed the cinema release here which only lasted a few weeks, so brought the DVD when it was released. Lent it out to family and friends and it hasn't returned for nearly three months now, which says it all really.

Watched this over the weekend and quite agree with Al. In fact I was going to say I enjoyed the first 2/3 of the movie but the last third was pure Hollywood, or rather the Aussie equivalent. Kind of a letdown with the third son, girl likes boy ending, etc. A lot of movies give the audience what they think they want, ie We Were Soldiers Once and Young, Lone Survivor (total fiction), etc. Give it 2 1/2 stars. Chris
