Things that annoy me (4 Viewers)

People still complaining about getting the "real ID." The law was signed in 2005. You don't even really need to get it unless you fly and don't have a passport.

I tried to get mine last year; registry rejected my SS card as it was laminated; the thing was beat to ****, had it since I was 16, had to get it laminated, they told me to jog down to the SS office and get a new one..........nope, they were unable to do it, had to do it on line and after getting one of those ice cream headaches trying to navigate their Civil War era website, I gave up.

I can't remember what other forms of ID they took that I did not have, so I renewed my license and just got a passport instead.

I haven't been on a plane since 1993 and don't plan on doing so anytime soon, but you can't get into a government building without the real ID or a passport.

Meanwhile, we had a wide open border for 4 years.................what an backward country this is sometimes.

If it's any consolation, it can be like that here.

Now in UK and sell on ebay, even if you are a private seller like myself, but because I have gone over a certain threshold in selling this year I was required to inform them of my National Insurance Number so that HM customs and Revenue can decide if I need to pay tax, obviously everyone's circumstances will be different, but just another way things are changing.

Another thing about ebay, that has changed recently is that instead of the seller having to pay listing fees etc, the customer now has to pay what ebay term as buyer protection and I think this is putting people off along with buying, as everyone wants a straight forward transaction and not if they haven't been paying attention to these changes extra fees to pay.

Ebay have also made it more awkward for sellers when it comes to shipping.

I've heard about those changes Ebay has made, no idea what they are thinking, putting buyers off is not a good strategy for long term success.

Ebay for about the past six months has been pretty mediocre for me, not to mention the last few collections I tried to buy went sideways for various reasons, everything from the seller taking my money and jerking me around for a month (shame of me for paying up front, I NEVER do that, never again) to the point where I opened a dispute with paypal to another seller taking the best items out and selling them to someone else, then coming back to me offering me the rest (Yeah; no) to another seller playing me against another dealer, so i walked.

If Ebay keeps nosediving, buying collections may be in my rear view mirror; between this situation and the tariffs, things are not looking too great.

Now 0-6; I'm done with basketball this year, adios.

Not one but back to back blown 20 point leads, two horrendous fourth quarters, the Knicks win both games in Boston having had the lead for 12 seconds combined in both games.

KP has Ebola or some mystery illness, Brown is 75% with a knee issue, winning back to back championships is really, really hard.

Not their year.

I'm out.

I wanted to buy some 3d printed vehicles from a vender on ebay in the UK and the shipping etc was almost as much as the item I wanted so I did not get it. It's a shame because he had quite a few items that I would have bought

I hope they make some adjustments, the Celtics are too talented to just keep chucking up three pointers.

so basically you want the best of both worlds . you want to enhance your income selling but not pay tax on it like retailers . my vat bill for the last quarter was over £8k why should your status be any different as you are not a casual seller if you are breaching the threshold .

Totally agree on ebay and you have to wait and wait for your money, plus when it is released they do not tell you and you have to keep checking, have £962 on hold at the minute through no fault of mine, all items have been received.

I make the error not to use their postage as it is terrible, firstly the weights are all wrong and i do not want to underpay for any postage so the buyer has to pay, secondly does not into account other costs, such as buying boxes, but these can be expensive relative to the money a figure a sells for in the end. Finally do not want to fully give in to evilbay controllling everything and it is just too much trouble to do it all through them.

I am not fully sure how the insurance works, does it mean if something goes missing and/or damaged then ebay refund the buyer?

They are on fumes, gassed at the end of both games; that team has a **** ton of miles on it between last years run and the three who went to Paris for the games, they're done.

Knicks fans are preening around like they already won it, yammering about how it's going to be a sweep, Michael A Smith has been insufferable the past few days, watch all the "A" list celebrity Knicks fans who show up tomorrow like that Oscar winning actor Ben Stiller, "Babs", Fat Joe, skinny Joe and Joe bag of donuts, then that midget Spike Lee...........................

Live by the 3, die by the 3.

It ain't happening for them this year, just glad they won it last year or Boston sports media would be insufferable, even more so than they already are.

This has 2023 Celtics/Heat written all over it, essentially one superstar and 11 tomato cans playing over their heads taking down the Celtics.

And sorry, the Knicks did not win the last two games; the Celtics blew/choked away both games, TWO 20 point leads pissed away.

Disgusting.

Yes, I've found that myself, that when you go to the post office to send an item, the postage is often higher than ebay had said, especially on occasion when postage prices have just gone up in the preceding week or so. If after being caught out on say selling a vehicle, where ebay has told you the postage is e.g. £3.95, but the post office say it's £4.95, then the next time you sell, you can manually adjust the postage fee to the actual one. But of course you have to keep up with the increases !

Ebay seem to be wanting to dissuade private sellers, and will no doubt work with anyone just wanting to sell a few low cost items using Royal Mail, with their requirement of either having a Printer to print a postage label with ebay collecting the postal fee or having a QR code on a smartphone to show at the Post Office.

The way I read it, the buyer protection fee, will if something go wrong, land back at the seller to cover.

.

Nope, I am not a dealer, just a private seller, who in thinning out their collection, has come across this new rule and would of thought from your position on your high horse there, that you would of seen that !
But as I've noticed from comments you have made in the past, you jump to conclusions, that the original person had not meant, and instead of reading my post as intended, in that I was just passing on information, you took it upon yourself to decide that I was breaching rules when I'm not in fact.
Agree, but i think one thing is missing from this discussion, tax and profit, no profit no tax.
i sell around £500 to £700 some months, not every month, i am selling stuff bought from dealers, at shows, etc and more often than not it goes for less than i paid, so if there is a discussion on profit i am in the negative column. So there would be no profit on my 'investment' so no direct tax to pay.

Also there appears to be a misunderstanding on VAT and ebay, i read through the reasons why they want your NI Number [which i gave] and it is for direct tax purposes and not particularly VAT. If you think this is not correct, then it is simple maths [with an 's' not the American 'Math'] the VAT annual threshold is £90,000 in 2025 and ebay want your NI number if in a calendar year you sell more than £1,740, which is less than 2% of the amount you have to turnover to register for VAT. Your sales would have to be over £7500 per month on ebay to meet the VAT threshold. Therefore not about VAT. REKP should realise the issue has nothing to do with VAT, so your little rant want slightly off target, but maybe you just got your VAT bill and need to vent, and this thread is about what annoys you........

By the way there are at least 2 [possibly 4] UK TS main dealers/manufacturers who are not VAT registered, so are they trying to have it both ways?
