Things that annoy me (3 Viewers)

Charlie Kirk. Terrible. This is something that should never happen yet it does. I didn't always agree with him nor do I always agree with anyone, doesn't make me want to harm them.

And of course the gun control words came out on cue as usual. BTW, like I have been saying ad nauseum. All guns are inherently dangerous in the hands of A. Lunatics and deranged people, B. Untrained and ones who do not respect firearms. The gun used here - bolt action rifle, most likely a hunting rifle. No it was not the feared AR15............or Glock handgun............

As I have said time and time again, there is a lot of blame here on all sides. Words can be dangerous. We need to take this moment and reflect upon it. Charlie Kirk was a good human being who believed in what he said. His goal was to provide a platform and time and space to young people whose views in his opinion had been vilified by a biased press and other agendas. Why and how that becomes threatening to another human is beyond me. As I said before, people are out of control and here is another example. IMO, this is why law and order matters in a civilized society. When you in countless incidents stop punishing violent offenders, it oks violent behavior and I feel like it greenlights these continued type of behaviors. The guns are not committing these crimes, people are.

I'm not a gambling man, never have been, never will be, but if I was, I'd bet he did not act alone, nor is this some disgruntled person but rather a patsy who was doing someone elses bidding.

Kirk was a lightning rod, as Tom said, I didn't always agree with him nor do I always agree with anyone, but that's no reason to harm someone, there is zero justification for this.

What a sick world we live in where you end up dead over debating people and expressing your opinions.

I've seen a number of posts on FB and videos on YouTube of people celebrating his assassination; there is a special place reserved in Hell for all of these people, lower than low, sickening and disgusting, I can't imagine hating someone, or more to the point, what they stand for so much that you celebrate their death.

I actually pity these people, they have no soul, they need to find a church and find God in the process.

This happened in front of his family and thousands of college students who will be forever impacted by this.

I no longer have faith in humanity, nor do I have any hope for the future of this country.

The impact of social media is coming home to roost. Folks in their 20s have spent much of their lives online. For anyone paying attention, there has been a radicalization that is a direct product of the influence of social media. People have always disagreed about politics but the level of rage among so many people has become frightening. They can interact with one another online and ratchet up the hate or be exposed to the hate filled rants of others. Not sure what the solution might be but there may need to limits on school children and the mentally ill being online.

Access to smartphones and connectivity to the Internet certainly causes a lot of bullying issues among the young, and what may start as a school playground taunt now the jounding follows the victims home giving them no relief.

Anyone with children can see the profound impact that the Internet, video games, social media, and phones are having on children who are growing up in this environment. They are as addictive as drugs. They also influence behavior by exposing them to relentless hate speech, disinformation, and conspiracy theories. The results are speaking for themselves. Record low standardized test scores, mental health crisis, depression, social awkwardness, violence. It is a mess brewing. We tend to overstate a lot of problems like the killer bees coming from Mexico but this is a rare example of a problem being vastly understated.

When you refer to a certain group of people in hateful terms with zero just cause OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER again, you influence behavior on impressionable people, specifically younger people, violence is the result.

You don't get your way, so you lash out at your opposition and incite violence towards them.

It's disgusting and sickening behavior.

I am just exhausted by all of this crap.

One side calls the other side nazis and the other counters with names like libtard.

Super creative and intelligent, none of which makes me want to join your “side”.

As for your “rallies”, congrats you can raise your voice.

Vaunted leaders feed you garbage so they stay in power while we sit back cheering them on.

Both sides can eat it as far as I am concerned.

Couldn't agree more, two wrongs don't make a right, both parties are broken toilets, more to the point, extreme/far left/far right stances.

When you die for your beliefs by a coward with a gun and its celebrated that's a sure sign that the country has completely come off the rails.

I agree social media has had a huge impact, however you can place most of the blame on the West's left leaning education systems, that have been allowed to pollute the minds of our young since the 90s.

The steady, gradual erosion of Free Speech has turned our societies on its head, up is down, left is right, sex is confused and expressing an opinion can get your cancelled and also result in death......

Social and economic decline is here now and the Wests enemies are set to go.

Its been 80yrs since the end of WW2 and history has taught us that every 80-100yrs humanity manage to repeat the process with every increasing regularity.

I don't really understand why the educational elite lean to the left. Surely they see how people have suffered under socialism and communism. I know capitalism is far from perfect but it has brought more people out of poverty than any other system.

It's a good question. Academia functions in its own Utopian universe. They can pontificate in ideals and hypotheticals rather than reality. None of what they espouse has much effect on their own lives. They can take all sorts of ridiculous positions on how society should function since they have no skin in the game. They don't have to produce anything.

I see where certain segments of Chicago's population are up in arms about the shooting of the illegal by an Ice agent who was being run down by the suspect. Of course the deceased was a great father, blah, blah blah. But this is what fries me. The news is stating that the shooting occurred the day before some Chicagoans were going to celebrate Mexican Independence day. WHAT? You now live in the USA. Go back to Mexico iif it's that important.
On another topic. Anyone on this board live in New York city? If so you got to be puckering with the thought that this momdami seems to be the next mayor of NYC.

I find it kind of funny and sad but……

I was born in the USA. By heritage I am half German.

Since I was a kid my family has openly celebrated many Germanic holidays.

I have continued that routine as an adult sharing my plans to celebrate these holidays with friends, neighbors etc.

In all that time no one has ever told me to go back to Germany if those holidays are that important to me.

hahaha...that's tough Jason...no schnitzel in America for you...

I'm half Greek...there goes my Greek Easter...gonna miss the souvlaki...gyros and baklava...

and I guess goodbye to Hanukkah for the Jewish community...
Juneteenth and Kwanzaa for the black community...
St. Patrick's Day for our Irish Americans...
Columbus Day for our Italian Americans...

gotta go back to our ancestor's country to celebrate these holidays...

gonna be a "white" Christmas in America for sure...

Perhaps because your ancestors immigrated legally. Moreover your family has since likely fully assimilated into US culture while maintaining some non US traditions. No one has issue with that.

I mean, we recognize plenty of non-US holidays/celebrations. Cinco de Mayo for one. St Patrick’s day. Lunar New Year, Columbus Day. Heck Halloween has a non US derivation.

But you’re likely not waving the German flag while demanding your illegal entry be overlooked/allowed, while also calling US culture oppressive and racist, while demanding to be bestowed fully the benefits and rights of our system.
