Things that I really like (2 Viewers)

I disagree, it is misguided government interference into young people's lives, a better plan would be to educate young people with techniques to help them cope with 'offensive' influences in their social interactions.

Think back to when you guys were 15, would you have wanted the 'government' to interfer with your personal life? They will just find ways to get around the 'ban', making the situation worse.

It's just another example of the increasing 'Nannyfication' of society, harden the ef up, life can be tough, you can't outlaw 'bad things' happening to you.

Meanwhile, the under 16 year old death rate from ebike/escooter accidents increases on a weekly basis. Surprise Surprise, who would have thought scooters capable of 80 Kph would ever be a problem on the roads  🤪
The government prohibits children from smoking and buying alcohol. Arguably that is government interference in their lives but the good kind. Drug and alcohol addiction is nothing compared to the addiction to cell phones. Every single kid under the age of 18 that I know or see is on a cell phone. They would stay on them all day absent some parental intervention. It is an addiction. One with profound negative implications for society. At the very least, they should be banned in all schools to give the teachers a fighting chance to teach.

Kids using Cell/Mobile phones are just another 'addiction scare', same as earlier 'scares' such as Videos with Violence, Online/Console Games, Majiuana etc that was supposedly going to permanently corrupt the kiddies. Parents see something on the news media that's 'apparently' a threat to their children and then overeact, and of course in the US you have a more Religious Background compared to most of the Western World which seems to exacerbate the situation.

For example in most Western countries people are allowed to Smoke and Drink alcohol from 18 years old, whereas it's 21 in most US states. How is that working out for US 'kids', does that extra Three year ban actually work? And don't forget your 'Prohibition' experiment in the US, that resulted in an increased use of Alcohol, together with more Corruption, more Crime and more Deaths etc.

And let's look at the actual facts, I understand that Cell/Mobile phone use is already banned in most US schools, they certainly are in most Australian states, use them at school and they will be taken from you, so that 'issue' has already been solved.

Rather than implement a blanket government ban on Cell/Mobile phones outside school, just educate kids to moderate their use.

When you make something 'Illegal' it becomes more 'Attractive'.

You must not have kids. There is no "scare" about this. It is a grim reality easily confirmed. Walk through any public place where there are teenagers and you will see them all staring at their phones. Even if they are in a group. It is like something out of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers." They are under some type of addictive mind control. And that doesn't even get into the content that promotes short attention spans and general idiocy. Everything about it is designed to promote addictive behavior. There is no way for schools to compete.
