Things that I really like (4 Viewers)

I agree with many of Trump’s executive orders.

The problem is that the more extreme his moves are the more likely that in 4 years someone else can be elected and all of this can be undone with a counter swing that is even more extreme.

As an every day American I just want compromise and middle of the road driven policies.

Judging from the rhetoric on both sides that is all but impossible.

I agree and I hope these big pendulum swings from the far left to the far right don't divide your country even more. It seems like Trump keeps going in hard then backs off to achieve a better position but in some ways it looks like he's to over the top initially, then the left say "I told you so", then he backs down. Which to some makes him look weak. But what do I know, all I know is I'd be no good in politics.

Yes, I think that is exactly right. For good and ill, it's part of Trump's psychological makeup. He promises miracles. He threatens those that oppose him but then he often delivers less than promised. Is it his strategy all along to over promise to get a decent compromise? I don't think so. I think he actually believes he can do many of these things until at some point it becomes obvious that he can't. Then he saves face by simply taking credit for anything that was achieved. That doesn't mean that he hasn't moved the ball in a positive direction, but he has done so in the most divisive way possible leaving himself open to criticism that he hasn't fully delivered on his promise.

The Lakers are wheeling and dealing like the Dodgers. Adding a big, young center was the final piece of the puzzle. Done. They gave up a lot for Williams, but they are in "win now" mode. Strangely, they are in first place in the west even before these deals.

The "Final Destination" movies. They stumbled on a winning campy formula that never gets old. Fate can't be cheated. Tony Todd (aka the Candyman) was fantastic in his short cameos. He recently reached his final destination, but I understand he is in the next movie coming out in May.

I liked them, but now I'm very wary of log trucks, always speed past them before they lose their load ;)

I like transparency especially when it comes to USA Income tax dollars and how they are spent. Anyone following the USAID scandals???? Holy Smokes what a mess. I am sure when all is said and done, you could make a documentary that would flow more like a thriller novel. As I like to say, you just can't make this up.

I bet the waste will be over a trillion dollars when they check everything. IRS, Here comes the Musk!

There have been so many recent claims that turned out to be false or misleading that it's hard to know the truth. The Washington Post has an article today that suggests almost every claim about USAID is false or misleading. I'm sure they do have many nutty programs but they likely also do some good work. In my opinion, it would be better to do a more nuanced overview rather than tear the entire thing down. Among other things, there is approximately $300 million in food and medicine already paid for sitting on the docks going to waste. I'm all for downsizing and cutting spending, but this is mostly ideological smoke and mirrors dressed up as downsizing until the military budget, social security, and Medicare are on the table. That makes up almost the entire budget when you factor in the interest on the debt. And that will never happen. What is "waste" to one taxpayer is considered an entitlement by others.

How much money was sent to the Washington Post through USAID; asking for a friend.

I'm not aware of any. There was a story about money being sent to POLITICO but those also proved to be misleading. It's incredible that the WH reports things from Internet bloggers without verifying them. Again, I'm all for cutting but the stories circulating are often misleading at best and sometimes outright false. The condoms for Gaza story was false. There are legitimate nutty programs that should be cut but those are a literal grain of sand on the beach in terms of the federal budget. If taxpayers want the budget downside, they are going to have look in the mirror. That means less social security, less health care, and a much smaller military that can't fund endless wars.

I get the "hands off Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid" mantra, heck I don't my any cuts in my SS, but I'm willing to bet there's 10s of thousands, if not 100s of thousands of "dead" people (probably the same ones that vote in every election;)) and other grifters making fraudulent claims to SS and filing Medicare scams. The amount of waste, fraud and abuse of taxpayer money in the Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid systems has to amount to 10s of billions of dollars, or more, per year ... one could hardly call looking into that a waste of time.

Orangeman Bad has been in office a little more two weeks, let's give him and Musk a wee bit more time to clean up the decades of fraud of waste.

Everyone is for cutting waste until it affects them or their family. They go insane if anyone suggests revisions to social security or Medicare. What appears to be happening is a smoke and mirrors show under the guise of downsizing government which is fueled by misinformation or outright falsehoods. For example, $50 million is being spent for condoms for Gaza. People read that and it confirms their narrative that all the spending goes to crazy stuff. Everyone is for cutting that. The problem is that it's not true. No one ever says to themselves, how about I sacrifice something like a cut to my social security to help downsize the debt. No one whose house burned down in California is turning down any government money even though many of them multi-millionaires. The buck stops with someone else.

My advice is to stop reading that leftist rag.

And the Pentagon is getting an audit too, who knows what DEI, woke, green new deal, transgender rights spending will be uncovered in the military.

The Washington Post or Politico? ... surely you don't mean either one of those two non-partisan, straight down the middle, pillars of journalism and purveyors of unbiased truth.

Apparently USAID gives a few million to a BBC run charity helping to spread their lefty agenda

I support almost all of Trump's policy objectives but just trying to apply the same standard to his administration as the last one. One small recent example. Trump went on and on at a recent press conference about Sen. Tubberville telling him about coaching Patrick Mahomes. How Mahomes made him a better coach and was a great guy etc. Problem being, though, that Tubberville never coached Mahomes. In fact, Mahomes confirmed that he had never even spoken to Tubberville in his entire life. If this were ever pointed out to Trump, he would never acknowledge that he misspoke. On some future occasion, he would repeat the story knowing it was false. He is impervious to facts that are contrary to his narrative.

As you know, you really have to dig in on any press with skepticism. They all have an angle. I have a soon to be member of my household that will be knee deep in this in 6 months. As he reminds me, there are facts baked into articles, you just have to find them. He is fairly moderate and unbiased. His and he will stake fact on it is that USAID is a problem. A big one. I got most of my facts from his research on the subject as it was part of his last Journalism class ironicaly enough (Case Study on the Failed Investigation)!!! It goes back to the congressional inquiry which was not necessarily partisan and has lasted throughout many administrations. They have been out of control for decades. These are facts - they do not follow legal mandates for budget spending, they pull all sorts of shenanigans and like I said before, where there is smoke, there is fire.

Remember the weapons of mass destruction. Ok, there were not in Iraq, but they were in Syria being stored away from UN eyes. However, the WaPost has never quite reported the rest of the story beyond the headline that Bush and Cheney found no weapons in Iraq. Notice, they never said they didn't exist.....................I am not going into that story any further as it is a rabbit hole, but I can tell you I believe in the facts I have been told first hand about that debacle. The devil is always in the details with today's press reporting.

On another note - see 60Minutes transcript debacle. One of the most respected news programs of modern times just admitted they are shiiite.

I'll still take him 7 days a week and twice on Sunday over Harris, she popped up in CA speaking about the wildfires....................spouting nonsense from her 500 word vocabulary, then she and her husband were spotted at a Lakers game in the 200th row in the nosebleed section.

What a has been; more like a never was.

While the condoms for Gaza story was false, I did see another report that USAID did pay $50M for contraceptive items and condoms to other countries. I haven't verified that report.

There are tons of waste in the federal agencies, even Clinton and Obama admitted it and and tried to do something about it. The story of Hamas getting condoms may be false but the Taliban got them. If you notice the countries getting this so called aid aren't complaining a bit. Now I hear a judge has blocked DOGE from going into the treasury. Who in the hell do these judges think they are? The American people want these departments/agencies checked.
