time to ride off into the sunset (1 Viewer)

Sammy is doing what he needs to do and thinks is best for himself and really is not the business of other people or their unwarrented opinions. The important thing is that Sammy is continuing to collect WW2 AFVs and figures on a basis he can live with and is staying as a valued member of this Forum. It's not an invitation for a thinly veiled debate on whether K&C or FL is better using Sammy's problem to satisfy other peoples egos.

I really don't know what to make of a post like that. To the extent it is serious, it is quite a bit late since that conversation started over 5 pages ago. To the extent it is aimed at any individual posters, it is rather impolite and abrasive, as well as being unnecessary. To the extent it was intended to fuel the debate, it is itself too transparent for its purpose. This thread has covered every topic from its misleading title to historical ignorance and the relative consciousness of animals. It would be difficult in the extreme to turn it into anything other than what most threads are, a set of losely connected conversations that may have been suggested by the original theme or simply an observation made in an earlier post. Sometimes me thinks thou dost protest too much.;)

I'm not exactly sure what to make of the post either. Sammy put the matter at issue and, thus, a question fit for discussion, and the question, as most recently well stated by Ray (nmrocks), is what is the cause of this change and will it lead further problems down the road. I'm sure that we all want the best for him and the debate is not, or shoudn't be, about whether one toy soldier manufacturer's products are better than the other but whether giving up one and getting involved with the other will result in the same problem.

Wow!!! this thread has gone nuts, when I first posted I had made up my mind that I had to get out of this collection, it seriously was becoming an addiction, becoming way out of control, mentally/financially...in the next week or so I came to the conclusion( after MANY questions and double checking) that if I went with one maufacturer only, maybe I could stay in a hobby that I truly love, it made sense for me to collect First Legion, after collecting K&C for over 4 yrs, there was no end in sight, between the retired pieces and all of the new stuff just on WWII and figarti/others I had over 20,000 dollars in my collection, and was nowhere close to catching up with the older retired stuff, something had to go, now if I hit the lottery tommorow I would buy every single piece that I could find of K&C, and be as happy as a clam!!! but slim chances there, so I will not get into a fight about who is better/cheaper/whatever, I will always love KING&COUNTRY, but hopefully with my new found moderation I will love FIRST LEGION as well, time will tell...Sammy

well said.
one way or another, as long as you stay in the forum and provide your usual input, i personally don't care if you collect shirt buttons. :)

I myself have sold sets and bought them again.Sometimes it seems like you want to get rid of everything and get out totally and not worry if you have the money to get the next great set you see but after getting rid of them your sorry that you did.It can be quite a dilemma in your mind. For those of you who don't for a second think of getting rid of your collections must have peace of mind that some of us don't.

Well as often the case, I don't think the products have much to do with it; some folks just have a talent for aphtae epizooticae. It all seems to evoke a bit of a limerick:
There was a hobbyst who liked to pretend,
Who often did his best to offend.
So he stuck out his tongue,
But it got caught in his bum.
Now he wishes he could simply unbend.:D

If we are going to use five dollar words - I better get some change.

For those who don't want to look it up, the term means foot in mouth disease.

It seems that all that could be said probably has been said on this thread, so perhaps it's time for us to let this one sail away.

Well said. Its possible this thread is drifting towards K&C V FL,and lets be honest thats been done to death.

I agree with Rob - Lets just talk about why King & Country is the greatest Toy Soldier producer in the World - IMHO - of course ;)

I hope Andy will forgive me this once!:D;)

Sammy I hope you are very happy in collecting FL:).I also very much agree with you about keeping it light.I obviously totally disagree with Vezzolf re Toy Soldiers but we can do it in an non insulting or argumentative way,I for one do not go onto other producers threads to trumpet K&C,K&C don't need that;).

Hope you visit here often Sammy,am about to start work on pt2 of my D Day dio and as a D Day enthusiast will welcome your opinion when finished:)

All the best

(I hear FL are doing a 'Stalingrad' Tiger!.Should be cool!)

Wow !
This thread reminds me of the title of the Shakespeare play
"Much Ado About Nothing"

Just imagine the drama if Louis announced he was selling his soldier collection and switching to collecting trading cards !!!
