time to ride off into the sunset (1 Viewer)

guys, as my eyes misted up and lower lip started to quiver in sympathy :(for sammy's plight, i made the mistake of checking out a fl thread. It seems sammy is just going to stop slumming with us kc kind of guys and move over to the "gold standard" of collecting. Michael

:d:d:d:d.....

No my fellow K&C friends, my heart will always be with K&C, and I will always continue to watch and be amazed at what's being released, as such my son will continue his K&C collection of civil war (of course I pay for it)...but I will be giving F.L. ago, I just can't afford 3-4 different manufacturers, please still love me:):):) Sammy

To each his own, but I will give you one friendly piece of advice that's backed up by your sales. While you will notice you either got a decent return or broke even from your K&C sales, I hope you don't have a change of heart about First Legion. That secondary market is not really a thriving market due to the relative newness of the Company. There are not a lot of sales and IMO and based on sales I have seen, you will not get retail as most of the products continue to be available. 5 years from now, who knows, they could be gold. I just know I have purchased a few items on the secondary market at significant discounts.

Again, I hope you like whatever you collect.

Well to be fair Tom, as you note, it is too early to judge the secondary market for a company that has just gotten started. I have no idea how K&C secondary values looked in their second year but it is an apples and oranges comparison in any event since K&C is a volume producer with lower initial costs. One thing I can assure you of however, you won't get tired of them because of the way they look and that is better than secondary market value any day IMHO.;)

Agree, as I said, there really is no secondary market, too early to tell that. I just meant that Sammy seems to have had a very quick change of heart on K&C (he is relatively new to collecting), so I hope he doesn't have a quick change of heart in his new venture!

Now as far as getting tired, I like all toy soldiers, no manufacturer have I found that I get bored of!

I agree.I hope he's happy in whatever he's collecting as he's a good forum member, but I also hope he does not regret a sudden change of heart to a completely different form of the hobby from that he's been collecting.

I wouldn't worry about that; he seems to know just what he is doing.

Sammy is doing what he needs to do and thinks is best for himself and really is not the business of other people or their unwarrented opinions. The important thing is that Sammy is continuing to collect WW2 AFVs and figures on a basis he can live with and is staying as a valued member of this Forum. It's not an invitation for a thinly veiled debate on whether K&C or FL is better using Sammy's problem to satisfy other peoples egos.

Well said Terry.I consider Sammy a friend and just hope he does not regret taking what is quite a big decision when you've been collecting a while.

I think Sammy kinda opened himself up to other people's opinions when he posted this thread - don't you ?

I agree everyone has the right to do whatever they want with their collection - without question. But, it was kinda weird thread in general.

You are right Ron, he did open it up to other people's opinions, but it seems to have become an extension of the K&C vs FL debate more than just a few opinions.

I think we all battle these demons to some degree or other, My concern would be if the original problem was money spent or number of items collected? If it were the money issue then i would say at 300.00+ per vehicle the issue is unresolved and there will be no slow down in monies spent with a shift to FL. If it's a number of items issue then i seriously doubt there will be much of a repreve for long, going back and filling in, then new releases?
I would examine the basic extreme behaviors of Jumping infull force, jumping out completely and jumping into something else the same way, thats where Sammy will eventually have to find a compromise and some inner peace.

I really don't know what to make of a post like that. To the extent it is serious, it is quite a bit late since that conversation started over 5 pages ago. To the extent it is aimed at any individual posters, it is rather impolite and abrasive, as well as being unnecessary. To the extent it was intended to fuel the debate, it is itself too transparent for its purpose. This thread has covered every topic from its misleading title to historical ignorance and the relative consciousness of animals. It would be difficult in the extreme to turn it into anything other than what most threads are, a set of losely connected conversations that may have been suggested by the original theme or simply an observation made in an earlier post. Sometimes me thinks thou dost protest too much.;)

Guys,
seriously, my post has nothing to do with the "great debate". My post is a simple statement of fact - one manufacturers secondary market is well established and rather easy to dump product in, I don't think there are any objections to that.

As for the other new company, there isn't really a big secondary market if any b/c there are far fewer collectors at this point and they are just that, collectors which is fine, no debate there either.

I think this for me was a post of facts, ie, if you suddenly change your mind, you might lose a little bit of coin for such decision!

I agree with you Tom and I took our exchange as nothing more. As for the "great debate", to me there is no debate; it is like comparing a basketball and a tennis ball; while they are both round and bounce, they are quite different products with quite different markets. Why should it matter that one prefers either?:)

I was thinking that most folks wouldn't try and hit a basketball with a racket but then again, there are always some that would.;)

You are being awfully subtle here aren't you, Ron? Why don't you just tell us what you really think?

Naughty Ron!,

I agree that King & Country is great, that's why I collect them. BUT I would hardly call First Legion overpriced puff & stuff!
