This week brought two new 37th Regt.Gren. Coy. figures from Gosport,an Ensign bearing Regimental Colour & a pvt. at the ready

from Stuart Reid's "Like Hungry Wolves" regarding the Battle of Falkirk,Friday 17th Jan. 1746
"Afterwards Hawley's officers were quite candid in admitting that so few men were lost simply because they had run away so quickly,and that a relatively high proportion of officers were killed because they had been abandoned by their men.This was particularly true of Monro's 37th which lost its Colonel,Lieutenant Colonel and three Captains-a fact which they were to remember on Culloden Moor three months later.There was an ugly rumour that Monro himself,whose body was particularly mangled , had first been wounded and subsequently murdered,together with his brother Dr. Monro,as his injuries were being treated."

Mike, Overcast here,the lighting is the result of a single bulb combined with turning the camera on its' side (which I've learned captures intriguing results ).For example the (truly hideous Matte Garibaldi )shots in Classifieds are also single bulb lit,but with the camera aligned normally.
I 'm very pleased with the fine painting on these two and they'll likely reappear when the King's Colour arrives.

These (& 8 or so other 37th Monro's Figures) are from Paul Herrmann of The Toy Soldier Shoppe-Wonderful & very knowledgeable man to deal with & a great pleasure to chat with.

This lot of Jacobites came to me via Al Green,a similarly wonderful and knowledgeable gentleman.

If I were wealthy or indeed had any income worth mentioning,I'd certainly have orders in simultaneously with every dealer I'm aware of. My first Tommy Atkins purchase 7 or 8 years ago was directly from the Turners ,and I've been absolutely thrilled with every one received since.

Jeff,You're not off, those figures DID come directly from the Turners,at least 85% of what I've collected over the years has been ordered from Tommy Atkins in England, & more recently won on eBay from Tommy Atkins.
These Dealers you mentioned provided superb transactions,it nevertheless remains my preference to deal directly with the Makers myself.

only one to have seen that movie ?
perhaps I should move to France I may be well advised not to list my favourite films-I'm likely the only audience some of them have,I recall "Fido" no-one else had seen.
I DID mention the cutting room floor (n'est ce pas ?).I picked these up.dusted them off & posted,despite their flaws.
The blockhouse is Barzso-the Black Watch in Boonesborough !
