Trophy - zulu war sets (2 Viewers)

Martyn,
As per your request, these are from a limited edition of VC winners made for Trophy of Texas - TT24 Heroes of the Drift. A total of 11 figures that came in two boxes and a certificate as well as a reproduction of the VC medal.

I did not know that Len Taylor made this set of the 11 winners of the VC at Rorke's Drift.

Any idea how many sets were made for Trophy of Texas ?

Thanks, Raymond.:)

Raymond,
Only 50 sets were made for Trophy of Texas. All the best, Lawrence

Raymond: I spoke with Mike Laeding and he said the plan originally was to make 50 sets. Mike said he received about 10 sets and sold 6. The other 4 did not sell and he eventually sold the figures individually on ebay several years ago before Zulu became such a big seller.

Lawrence,
Gee, I love the pics you took of the VC winner set...The Alphonse De Neuville print makes it really grand!
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Lawrence,

Thanks very much for the info.

I see you have added a new album ie Trophy AZW on March 15th.

That must be the tip of the iceberg. Looking forward to more.

Best Wishes, Raymond.:)

Hi Tommy,

I am bit surprised this set did not do better.

Perhaps it was released too soon after Set SRD "The Storehouse at the Drift".

The figures are that found in Set SRD of the 2nd version (1997) release of the storehouse.

Thanks, Raymond.:)

Raymond & Mike,
Thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately, (or fortunately as far as my wife is concerned!), I have limited my Trophy collecting to the Boxer Rebellion and the Sudan eras as well artillery sets from various eras made by Trophy. So, my AZW collection is rather shallow when compared to the great AZW collections shown on this Forum. Now, if I can just manage to get a collection in one shot like Boerboy....... In the meantime, I have my K&C glossy collecting to keep me occupied:D

I was lucky enough to find two more RARE sets of "THE RIGHT HORN OF THE BUFFALO" ZS54 last week

This is a rare version of the IZINDUNA holding a knobkerrie

This is the standard IZINDUNA holding an assegai

I would like to trade one of these new sets for ZS55 “THE LEFT HORN OF THE BUFFALO” or ZS74 “THE ONLY ONE”, if anyone is interested please send me a PM

Cheers

Great set featuring some nice figures Martyn. I hope Britains brings out a similar release, we are lacking mounted figures.

Great find, Martyn
I did not see this set before with solid bases.

Hi Martyn,

A very good set of the Chelmsford trio from the "Wharehouse".

I tried to click on it as I thought it may be a link.:p:p:p:D:eek:

Seriously, I do prefer bases for mounted sets.

Thanks, Raymond.:)
