True Detective (1 Viewer)

I liked her work on True Detective and look forward to seeing what she does for HBO.

For those who didn’t like this show, or any show for that matter, let me introduce you to a marvelous invention:

I thought the acting was strong. So far most people like seasons 1 & 3 and some like 5. Very few liked 2
Mark

I wondered if that was a real bear or CGI.

A one-eyed polar bear? I'm going out on a limb here and guessing CGI. It was just another example of how absurd this show was. Parts of it were so bad and absurd that I thought it must be a spoof of the series. But that was giving them too much credit. This was a modern virtue signaling rehash of the 1970s movies where the greedy white man has polluted the environment, and the noble indigenous people are the victims who have spiritual powers to combat them.

How many times do you need to restate your dislike for this season? We get it. If you didn’t like it, you should have switched the channel. If I’m watching something and I don’t like it I don’t keep watching it.

How many times? As many times as I like. There was a new post of yours about the show that I responded too.

Whatever makes you happy, which seems to mostly be when you’re complaining about something.

I posted this on a sports related forum I'm on, they have other sections where you can discuss movies/TV, music, politics (WOW, imagine that), you can even swear and do other things adults do when they converse.

Anyway, I digress...................WAY too many plot holes and just plain goofy things that happened in this series for my taste, YMMV.

This was just my observations from the last episode alone...................

First of all, Danvers would straight up die after going under the ice. That half-assed bonfire wasn't going to save her. She looked like she was going to bite the bullet under three sleeping bags and that was before getting entirely soaked.
The cleaning lady discovered the hatch. Amazing. Now how did she find the switch on the wall?
The murder weapon in the ice cave sure was easy to find. Twice.
All that warm electronic equipment in the ice cave and not a drip of water or condensation.
Danvers just rips a perfect glass breaking tool off a wall when she gets trapped outside.
We found ancient microbiology that could save the world. BIG CATCH but we need to pollute the tundra. What are ya gonna do right?
Are they taking core samples of the serpent trapped in the ice? Who knows. If they're taking core samples of the tundra because it's warmed up then why are all the core samples ice? Isn't tundra grass and dirt?
Why did Navarro ask about Annie's tongue when it was cut out by the elder Pryor? What did Danvers see on the tongue spot?
The restless Navarro with deep ties to her community is just going to run out the clock living off the grid with Danvers? Ok!

Lots of posts on this show/topic from forum members I respect.

Brad liked it, Doug and George didn’t.

The discourse makes for great discussion but no one is going to change anyone’s mimd.

I look forward to what the creators of this series come up with the thought that everyone one who “disagrees” can at least “agree” they will watch the next iteration.

People are always going to have different interpretations of what they watch, hear and read and that is fine. As far as certain things not seeming logical to in a show, when we are watching something my wife may point out certain inconsistencies and my response is “it’s a show.”

Bottom line. If I disagree with someone else, I address their opinion. I don't suggest that they stop posting or insult them. I have no desire to suppress contrary opinions. You liked the show. That doesn't make you a bad person or cause me to suggest that you stop posting about it or putting up pictures of remote control devices and requesting that others use it to not watch the show.

Disagreement is fine but there are many ways in which to express that disagreement.

I enjoyed the first series most of all to be honest and could watch it again....

I don't get this recent theme of making some crimes shows 'weird and whacky' to try and make them entertaining nor is it realistic.

Yes there are lots of nut jobs out there doing 'bad things' however in my experience committing crime is simple..... the true skill is connecting the dots.
