Its a great read and will give plenty of ideas. From memory I don't think the squadron andy's aircraft represents was in 2 tac.
Mitch
Well 247 sq did see action in Normandy & were based Coulombs in Normandy at the end of June so would be a part of 2nd Tac as planes based in Britain were called Air Defence of Great Britain

I just recall that 266 typhoon squadron was with 2 tac but, could not remember 247 being in the long list of squadrons under mallories command. I know they fought through europe into germany until the end of the war. I will have to dig out the info

Any plane that was based in mainland Europe after D-Day would of been from 2nd Tac mate

124 wing after D-Day. was thinking of their operations prior to the D-Day landings

I was aslo just thinking that we are due an SL. I wonder if the Typhoon will be the next SL???
Mitch

Could be, was the 262 a SL by the way?. One of the Hurricanes was a low production number if memory serves, just 200 I think.

I think the Marseille ME-109 was a Limited Edition. Don't recall the number. -- Al

Cheers Rob,

First off, a very happy but belated birthday to you! I hope & trust it was a wonderful day spent with your family. Now, in regards to the Typhoon aka "Miss Tiffie", there is nothing that I can say that has not already been posted. In short, Team K&C has produced one of the finest releases I have seen to date and I can not wait to have her on my RAF flight line diorama. These thought all coming from just a picture-I can not wait to see her in person. Sorry chaps, but out of training & habit I will never be able to refer to a warbird in terms as a "male." Thanks K&C for such a splendid warbird! Sign me up!

Thank you my friend thats very kind of you!:smile2:

She is a real beauty for sure, the Spit has the elegance and sleek lines of probably THE ultimate WW2 fighter, but the Typhoon has that power , that threat of impending destructive force that makes it very distinctive indeed. And dressed in her D Day stripes she looks the business. Sometimes you just know you have to have an item before you've even seen it and in true K&C tradition they haven't disappointed, stunning release and a highlight of the year for me no doubt.

Cheers Marc.

Rob

My guess it will be 279.00.

The RAF Typhoon looks like it will be an excellent K/C release....Looks very imposing with those guns.......I don't collect much K/C anymore but I'm really considering this one.......Unfortunately......My guess is that it will be quite a bit more then $279.....Would not be surprised to see $300+ depending on the actual size of this model.

I've a feeling she's going to be big,heavy and quality all through Frank. Am going to have to get started on an Airstrip at some point, I want to have her alongside my Spit and Hurricane and my 'Captured' FW190. Yep it won't be cheap but quality never is, and I've been really looking forward to this since I heard about it last year. I think it will be my stand out purchase this year^&cool{bravo}}

Might get this beauty and hang it up above the XXX Corps diorama? :wink2:{eek3}

Very much agree with this. They are a great range and have got better and better from the off. No disrespect intended at all to those who collect the wooden warbirds but for me these are top of the deck.

I am very much looking forward to also seeing a close up pic of the ground crew, they look excellent to me in the pic we've seen so far, I like the mix of khaki wearing and RAF figures very much indeed. I think these are going to be very interesting sets and bring the whole scene to life. I will add the Tilly and Bowser, maybe a dispatch rider and see what we come up with.

Rob
Rob,
I very much agree, the larger aircraft you simply must do in wood or some other stronger light weight material but side by side apperance the stone warbirds are by far my favorite as well. I've owned both and sold all my wooden warbirds as all the detail is painted and they just look sort of "plain" side by side when you see the rivet and detail work of the stone birds. They are a different "art" but the stone birds are by far a better fit to my liking. I would consider the woody's more of a "Glossy" style warbird. Strictly my opinion and in no way ment to offend the woody fans they are beautiful planes.

Totally agree Ray. The wooden Warbirds are works of art and very attractive, however for me the Poly warbirds have a much more realistic finish and lend themselves much better to dioramas with figures. Look at the finish on the FW190 it really is excellent and by their nature the wooden warbirds don't have that finish. As you say its things like the rivets and weathering that make the 'Poly's' stand out for me and make them blend into dio's so well. As you say I mean absolutely no offence to collectors of the wooden versions, they are something truly to admire, but for dio realism I prefer these Polystone releases, this Typhoon will be I think one in a long line of superb releases.

Rob

I have never seen the K/C wooden warbirds in the flesh, but I have seen other examples of carved wood WWII airplanes from other companies...Not bad... but to me they have a very flat "painted" look.....seems to have no depth to their appearance....Polystone seems to work better than wood with smaller planes.eg FW190...Probably not as well with larger models....This where I think resin models are the answer for larger aircraft in 1:30..... Resin with metal details (like propellers) should be easier to detail and paint...and would be more cost effective for collectors.....Would love to see a resin B-17 or Mosquito in 1:30....Franklin Mint did a good job in 1:48 scale but these were metal as I recall

I saw K&C's Lancaster in London a couple of years back, that was a superb model, huge and very nice indeed, if memory serves that was a wooden model.

I would guess the price at $299.00 for the Typhoon as it is a larger plane.Soon enough we will know for sure.

The thing is the Me 262 cost $239.00 & is a twin engined fighter so why would the smaller Typhoon cost more ^&confuse

uksubs...

spot on its bound to be and will be a decent price if its around the price of the 262 and razorback which, is a similar ish size.

It would be too much at 299 in dollars or pounds. This aircraft does not qualify that kind of price looking at the last two big warbirds
