Depending on where you're hearing the news, the US had either destroyed Iran ships before they had chance to lay naval mines in the straits of Hormuz, or the Irans, have started laying them and several other variations.
If they have managed to lay them, then ships won't be moving there with or without escorts for a while.
Either option is going is bound to effect not just oil, but LNG, only good thing is we're at the tail end of winter, with lot more countries scrabbling for it with Qatar halting production as being effectively cut off from their market and Saudi starting to transfer what they can to the Red Sea ports.
But with the Houthi gearing up to halt traffic going through Suez as well, prices ain't going to be coming down anytime soon.
