I sent Brad a couple of photographs of Tom Dubel with Mike (Madadicus) and Hans Hedrich with Matt Murphy's father along with a polite request that he post them on this thread.:smile2:

This show was a good show overall : It was great to meet Louis, Michael, Tom and Hans, Brad in person ... sorry Brad about being such a motor-mouth ^&grin
I found some nice Trophys (the details later in the Trophy section) but Trophy prices way too high in my book ...please find enclosed the pictures from the show:

Cheers

Louis asked me to post these.

Tom and Michael (maddadicus). Looks like Michael has grown a beard since I last saw him :smile2:

I just returned and must say this was one great show. I could tell it was Saturday and that most Treefrogger's had been visiting on Friday: some tables were clearly mobbed and had very little to offer. :)

Nevertheless, I saw more and met more people than I expected and slowly got the impression I was turning blue and one-eyed: time to leave.

Having said that, I would like to share some of the photos I took today with my pocket camera, if I may.

First, the most important news: The brain behind "Minutemen" is back:

The intern who packs the boxes and does the bagging lost 40 pounds since I saw him last:

Our own Tom Dubel was caught playing with an enormous train while manning the Figarti stand:

And the bossman himself had as much trouble picking out the winner in the competitions as anyone else:

Outstanding was the booth of Treefrog Treasures which was represented by a wonderful couple from Argentina who was very knowledgeable on everything Beau Geste. As expected, the selection was small, but it was wonderful for those who do not know Beau Geste to finally get a chance to better understand what they are missing. :)

Ted Deddens, Aeroart and the usual other suspects were all in attendance, but I did miss Richard Walker and Britains as well as Ken and Ericka Osen with Hudson & Allen.

The Wares:

I had the impression, John Jenkins was everywhere. Whether it was planes, FIW, buildings like longhouses, canoes, tanks or colonial wars, it appears JJ is omnipresent. Maybe my impression was tainted by a JJ fan whispering in my ear all the time - Mark C. (REVWARBUFF).

I do firmly believe that the faces of the JJ figures have improved substantially. And the tanks are extraordinary.

The Wares (II):

Tom pointed out that Figarti does not only do the train set (what a term for such a model!), but also modern AFV's:

No.1 in matt figures was of course still No.1 on the show.

While in the past, First Legion's offering had been modest at best (representative of its status of a newcomer), this time George's table was quite representative of First Legion's offering when the doors opened. When they closed, George's First Legion contingent had been severely decimated and in certain ranges, George was down to his reserves.

Disclosing that Aeroart and First Legion are my favorite matt figures, I was quite impressed by the crusaders. These pictures reminded me that often the orders fought each other for control of city quarters ....

The Competition:

A highlight were the figures, dioramas, scenes, paintings and vehicles participating in the competition. I will leave this topic to Brad for comment, buit would like to continue giving my subjective impression:

The Competition: Aeroart

In my opinion, St. Petersburg figures are still in their own class. Here we have representative for these figures the entry by Aeroart in the competition. Breathtaking details. In the clothes down to the mosaic on the floor.

When I said that JJ was ever-present, the same applies to the Russian miniatures. Great choices of high quality figures for the collector.

The Competition (IV):

One large scale diorama caught my eye. I would expect it to be around 1/24th scale. The size of the Tiger I was frightening. The visual difference to the "regular" models of 1/30 to 1/35 was extremely apparent and hence the emotional impact of the machine was so much more powerful. Will 1/24 bever become the new 1/30?
