Hi Guys,

On HBO GO here in Hong Kong they’ve been showing this great Israeli series called ‘Valley of Tears’ about the 1973 Yom Kippur War.

I binge-watched all of the episodes over a couple of days some weeks back and have gone back to watch it again this past week.

The action, especially the close quarter infantry and the tank battles are terrific... Some of the melodrama I’m less impressed with but overall it’s still well worth watching.

Much of the action surrounds the exploits of a small troop of Israeli Centurion tanks up against hordes of Syrian armour on the Golan Heights.

The film makers managed to find some now-retired Centurions / S’hot tanks in the Israeli Tank Museum which were refurbished and re-engined and put into action once more.

Of course there’s a fair bit of CGI as well but it’s done really well.

Check it out if you can... At the same time it inspired me to put together another little IDF (Israeli Defence Forces) display using samples of the upcoming ‘European Walls and Gate’ with one of our ‘Desert VillageShop Houses. I reckon they go together well.

All the best and look out for ‘Valley of Tears!
Andy

It will surprise no one here, but I love that show!!!

(And K&C idf series!)

Plans are in the works for season two to be about the Sinai campaign.

My favorite K&C series and look forward to the IDF Centurion and other additions.
Thanks Andy for taking a chance on this series, an important action for military historians to study.

I think the show is pretty good but after watching five episodes I find some of the character portrayals a bit over the top. In particular the bizarre tank commander and the intel soldier with the pet hedge hog are particularly annoying.

Anyone watched Fauda on Netflix? It's an Israeli tv produced series about a counter-terrorism undercover team. Very well done IMO. Chris

I have to agree about the hysterical ‘Intel’ guy with his pet hedgehog...Very annoying!
I wanted one of the Israeli NCO’s to punch him in the mouth and tell him to get a grip of himself or ...”Shut the f... up!”
Also didn’t particularly like the famous writer character trying to find his son...However...
The actual action/battle scenes are terrific and well worth watching.

All the best,
Andy.

I wanted to go find a hedgehog and EAT it during that series...but still found it interesting as I knew very little about that conflict.

Great to to know about Fauda
