I tried something new here for the first new...as always...new, first time projects intimidate me...figuring out how and what to use...and also as always...I learn so much from my first attempt...all the mistakes I make help me on the second attempt...there are so many things I wish I had done different on this one...I wish I had done a brown rock instead of a black/gray...made a taller waterfall...crafted a different rock formation...just to name a few mistakes...most especially...I'm pretty sure I can do a more realistic job on the water itself...anyway...here's my first attempt at a waterfall...

I think you did an excellent job with this Mike. We're always our own worst critic. I understand the drive to improve on things, which I know you will, but this turned out quite well.

Beautiful scene Mike. Trees and ground cover work so well with an impressive waterfall. Chris

Mike,it very nice.I too want a diorama with a waterfall.could you explain a little how you did it?
Mark

Hey, that looks really cool. I think it turned out great. I know what you mean about intimidation though. I've never done rivers like you do because of being intimidated by the process. I really like the stuff you make.

Matthew

thank you Chris...Chocolate Mousse...Mark and Matthew...

Mark...the waterfall is made with clear silicone...then more clear silicone mixed with white enamel paint and painted on...it's an easy process...I just don't have any painting talent...I'm sure a good hobbyist could really do a nice job on this...

Matthew...don't be intimidated by the water to make rivers or lakes...it's much easier than it looks...simple in fact...if you ever need help with it...or have any questions...please contact me...I will send you my phone number and it would be a pleasure to walk you through it...you will laugh when you see how easy it is...

The large land formation what is that made of?Sorry to be a pest.
Mark

thanks...that's a cool thread...a little out of my league on artistry talent...but really cool...

Mark...you're never a pest...you have always been one of my favorite friends on the forum...I'm flattered that you are interested in my rock technique...the rocks are made of blue board foam...I built a rectangle structure of them and burned out random shapes with an Electric Handheld Engraving Wood Burning Kit...just bump it here and there on the foam and it creates irregular patterns...remember these as a kid...found in any hobby store $8.00...they are great for sculpting foam and especially for creating crumbled walls and corners in foam buildings...

Hi Michael, thanks. I will take you up on your offer when I get more free time. Though that looks like the end of the year with the way my schedule is looking. In the mean time I will just enjoy the work you do.

Thanks again.

Matthew

Well, well Michael, you have been busy at creating again . . . . good for you and your results were well worth your effort and your learning curve . . . . . very nicely done sir . . .
:) Mike

Hi Michael,
as others, I really like the work you do with water.
Great job on this very versatile diorama base.
Can be used, and will look great, for any period.
Konrad
