What makes K&C the toy soldier company you buy from the most. (2 Viewers)

It's simple. My main area of collecting is WW2 AFVs and K&C has the largest and longest production and selection of AFVs.

Quality, quality and a bit more quality. People talk about competitors but, the only company for me who have tooped K&C is Honour Bound and, sadly, we will never probably see such craftmanship again.

Overall the figures planes and AFV's are better than any on the current market yes, others such as Figarti do more off beat AFV's but, their figures wholly let the ranges down as they are just so poor IMO and, other figure makers such as CS have gone to the far end of the scale trying to get realism into their figures. First legion are not in the 60mm scale so, cannot really be seen as competition as such and, for me are too expensive for what they are even though they are painted well (another fifteen minutes on a K&C figure and you would be as well shaded) .

K&C for me do it right across the board thats the big difference and why they are and probably will be always, ahead of the chasing pack

I reckon you have nailed it there Mitch.

The only downside I find with K & C is that they produce so many models. Which together with the increasing model prices has forced me to narrow my collecting focus to only One range.

ozdigger....

That probably is the only downside, however; having so much to choose from allows you to 'broaden' ones horizons. I prefer WWII and WWI but, really like the other civillian ranges such as AE and SOOKK.

I only collect bits that really stand out for me so I had one main collection originally and now buy allsorts so, my collection is really eclectic and not pinned down to one area.

I think price and production will eventually level out as there does seem to be more people concerned about both than say last year at the same time and companies will have to be mindfull of what is going on with their clients but, at the moment I think they are also enjoying the 'golden age' we often speak of.

Sadly, they are almost priced out of reach now. So, I am looking to Thomas Gunn and Collectors Showcase.

Another 15 minutes won't transform a K&C figure into a FL one. There are more tiny sculpt details on a FL figure at the start and if you ever tried paiting yourself faces, you'll see that FL old imperial guard will require at least 3x more time to paint than a regular K&C figure.. And let's not talk about the horses.. BUT it comes with a price tag that is beyond what most people would pay for. However, K&C and FL figures are cheap... Even at 35$ and 50$ respectively, it would take me at least 5-10 hours to paint one.. I don't know what's your salary but mine is at least 100x the one of the average chinese painter ! So those figures are actually quite cheap !

Good to hear why you guys collect K&C,for me there is another side to it as well. Its the communication and infomation given out by the company that makes the collecting of its releases very addictive. The plethora of leaflets, flyers,Collector and of course the regular monthly dispatch give the collector info on whats coming and whats going etc.As we get all this on a regular basis from K&C its easy to forget how unusual it is to have, but it is by no means an across the board thing with other producers.

As someone with a limted budget for collecting, a fair degree of planned purchases are needed, so if for instance I know that the month after next we are getting a Spitfire, it gives me time to put funds aside. I know for some money isn't an issue but for me this month in advance heads up is very important.

This is relatively simple. KC makes the widest range of figures and models at the price point collectors are willing to pay these days. I know FL has a dedicated following and that other companies are making inroads, but KC is this hobbies standard carrier. This is just the way I see it and not a shot at any other company. Heck, KC isn't even the most numerous company in my collection, but that doesn't mean that I don't appreciate what they have done for or mean to the hobby. -- Al

I have purchased many K/C products over the years and I must say that I am "very pleased" with the majority of my purchases.....However K/C is no longer the toy soldier company from whom I make "most" of my purchases....Figarti and First legion have been producing some excellent products and I find my collecting habits have shifted in that direction....K/C is no longer the only choice out there....there are other options which are IMO "better" products (although a bit more costly).......Also K/C has not recently produced many requested items by forum members in particular German Panzer Grey AFV's and as a result "Costly Re-Paints" are necessary if one would like WWII Panzer Grey AFV...(nothing but camoflage lately).......This void however has been more than adequately filled by First Legion Stalingrad Line a great product....Sorry but K/C is no longer this collectors first choice.

No need to apologize Vezzolf, all opinions are equally valid on here. You may be amongst K&C fans but they are not Jackals;).We all have our own personal favourites and thats what makes it fun,I know who my number one company is, but I also appreciate the work of others.

Yes there certainly is a wide choice of product just now, stretches the budget a bit but its a very enjoyable dilemma:).K&C offer a huge range of WW2 themes these days and what I like is the fact that whatever you choose its going to be quality product, makes choosing a little bit easier.
