For the Music Lovers, thought this would be neat as vinyl IMO has made a full comeback. My Son is now into it being an avid musician, it is neat to see. Last night while out with friends, he was buying a Tom Petty Greatest hits and called me about an exclusive to buy for me, gotta love that, he has it in the genes! Anyhow, latest and greatest:

A> Motorhead Ace of Spades SUPER Deluxe Box set - probably top five of all sets I have ever bought.

B> Ozzy Osbourne - See You On The Other Side - top one ever personally signed by Ozzy and just an incredible career set.

C> Beatles Blue Box Set - original Apple Pressings - Mom bought this for me in high school - incredible set, didn't buy in last 6 months, but certainly rediscovered it! (so it counts)

D> Iron Maiden - Picture Disc Collection 1980-88, also First 10 Years Singles and Best of the Beast Vinyl

E> Lynyrd Skynyrd Greatest Hits Exclusive Root Beer Vinyl (one Logan got for me last night - one whole side is Freebird Live, can it get any better???)

not vinyl...CD's...
some old stuff I hear on the radio all the time that I have wanted for a while...

Best of Red Hot Chili Peppers...
Best of Nirvanah...
Alice in Chains...Dirt
Led Zepplin...Mother Ship...
Best of Bowie...
Santan...Supernatural...

I lost about 300 albums from some storm damage this summer so the list would to long.

The highlights thou

Black Sabbath Black Sabbath UK vertigo swirl.. I own a 1970 WB from the very first run of the LA plant that is great sounding. The UK vertigo is stunning in comparison.

Led Zeppelin Physical Graffiti.. Presswell pressing, I lost a Monarch George Piros pressing in the damage.

1977 Textured sleeve Fleetwood Mac Rumors First La pressing. It is the best sounding one I have heard though I haven't heard the Hoffman remastered pressing.

Muddy Waters Live at Newport Beach 1960 first pressing ..

Lefty Frizzell, His Life His Music.. Bear family records Germany 14 LP set..

Slayer South Of Heaven. First Geffen Release and it has no numbers in the run off area. So it may be a test pressing..Its stupid how quite it is in surface noise.

Culture Club with Boy George .. Na just kidding..:)

One of my Christmas presents was the double vinyl album "Brothers In Arms" recorded by Dire Straits

Mike

BTW ,This is why I have been buying less toy soldiers lately..

Picked up a few singles and E.P.s for my Jukebox. I already have a few to select from but they are mainly 60’s Soul and I wanted a few more Rock and Roll. During December the Jukebox has a selection of Xmas songs but come the 1[SUP]st[/SUP] of January R&R takes over for a couple of months.

The Jukebox holds 100 x 45RPM singles, I have attached a picture of the first 20 selections currently on the Jukebox

CHUCK BERRY - THE BEST OF CHUCK BERRY E.P.
LITTLE RICHARD - LITTLE RICHARD VOL 3 E.P.
CHUCK BERRY - CHUCK BERRY HITS E.P.
BUDDY HOLLY - PEGGY SUE E.P.

Stay safe and enjoy your music

Martyn...

that is REALLY COOL!
I would love that in my house...
it plays vinyl LP's too?
how does it sound?

Martyn that is really cool. My mother was born in 41 and as a teenager she bought every 45 that came out between 54 and 63 or so. And I mean every single one, so we grew up listening to the 50s Rock & Roll in my house. Unfortunately she treated them like everyone else from that era and they are now in horrible condition. I am not sure why the millennial generation started to buy vinyl but I am grateful they did. Now if they would buy better equipment to listen to it on. Thanks for the picture I have Ricky Nelson stuck in my head now.

It's late, we gotta get on home
It's late, we been to long

You got to love Ricky Nelson

Some classics there Mike ^&cool I haven't got back into vinyl and don't even buy cds anymore, but do enjoy chasing older songs for my Spotify collection, at $12 a month it's some of the best entertainment going.

Many thanks Mike :salute::. The Jukebox plays 45's, no LP's but the guy I bought it from 20 years ago has a Jukebox in his collection that plays LP's, his machine is very rare.

Stay safe mate

Hi ccdc11

My wife and I were lucky enough to see Ricky Nelson on the ROCK AND BLUES REUNION TOUR at the Royal Albert Hall in London on November 17th 1985. Sadly this was Ricky Nelsons last UK tour, he died tragically six weeks later on 31st December 1985 when his Douglas DC-3 made a crash landing outside De Kalb, Texas.

I had won the tickets for the Show in a competition run by Capitol Gold Radio
^&cool

Stay safe and enjoy yours and your Mum's music {bravo}}I don't care what the people say Rock and Roll is here to stay
:salute::

All,

I know it won't play, but I bought this for my daughter as a COVID graduation.

If you’re purchasing or trying to maintain vinyl, and you may already do this, I recommend using inner record sleeves (for the record) and outer record sleeves (for the jacket). Mobile Fidelity makes some very good ones that I use.

Also, depending on how many records you have and how good your system is, you may want to use a record cleaning machine. There are all kinds and you can spend from $40 to $1,000 on one. When I started to re-listen to vinyl I purchased an inexpensive one, a Studebaker for around $40 on Amazon. It’s similar to a Spin Clean machine. However, if you really want to maintain your records a vacuum cleaning machine is recommended and they’re certainly more expensive, starting around $500. I purchased a Nitty Gritty a few months ago and love it. One note of caution: the vacuum is loud so don’t do it in the middle of the night unless you want your family to yell at you.

Now, you’re probably saying why do I need an expensive machine for my records? Well, you’d be amazed at how better older records sound when you clean them because they will remove a lot of gunk that has built up over the years. In addition, not only will you be helping your records, you’ll be preserving your stylus. Any records I purchase, new or old, gets cleaned before I play it. Last week, I received some new Blue Note records and the amount of static on them was incredible. I had to cut off the inner paper sleeve and remove it carefully because otherwise I would have scratched the record.

If you have warped records, you may also want to purchase a record clamp as it helps to reduce vibrations and so forth.

Agreed on the cleaning. I have a Nitty Gritty as well, it's worth every penny. However if you don't want to spend that much, there is a vacuum attachment called a vinyl vac that I have used and it works darn well for about 25.00 bucks. You need you own small shop vac, (30.00) and a lazy susan or old cheap turntable. That and spin clean for about a 110 all in. It is a bit wonky to use but it does a real decent job and you can take a record that sounds like a campfire and eliminate most of the pops and crackle. Nothing will get out scratch of course.

Brad, Crutchfield is selling the premium MOFO inner sleeves for 20.00 with free shipping if you buy 2. I gabbed 8 the other day. It saved me about 7 bucks a package.

Chuck,

Agreed about the vinyl vac. I have read about those but didn’t try them.

On outer sleeves, I heard about a company called Vinyl Storage Solutions in Canada that makes archival sleeves and sleeves that can be used for gatefolds so you don’t have to take the album out of the sleeve. I bought a few and they’re quite nice. It makes sense if you have audiophile recordings but they are more expensive than MoFis.

Brad,
Thanks for suggestion on the vinyl storage. The gatefold ones, if they work I’ll do a happy dance.

I managed to buy a new copy of the half speed of the Hoffman mastering of Fleetwood Mac Rumors for a price I could live with. If your a fan of this album find it. I won’t make comparisons between the textured sleeve which I love but again if your a fan of the album this version deserves to be heard.
If your not a fan of this album, get your ears checked . (It’s A Joke)

Preordered the Walmart Exclusive Metallica Colored Vinyl as well as the Dio Sabbath albums. Received an original Metallica Kill Em All with the extra songs first press. Nice album!

Chuck,

Speaking of half speeds, take a look at this review of the Stones’ half speed by 45 RPM Audiophile on YouTube. I always find his videos very helpful. His review is brutal.

Tom very nice pick up on the Metallica. It’s like all first pressings of that album, it’s like they forgot to add Cliffs bass. Still great but no bass.

Brad, I will watch it later. I think I’ve seen his reviews before.

I returned from vacation to find that my cd transport had been left on and fried. Then my wife started coughing and sneezing right after a flight. Yeah fun times. Once I found out my wife was negative for COVID I ran to the the place I buy my equipment at to see about a new transport and someone had sold a good size collection of 50s thru late 70 rock, rock&roll and country. So instead of making a purchase of transport I spent a hour going thru the stacks.
I found about 20 or so today and after cleaning them all but two are solid condition wise. Nothing crazy special there, but a whole bunch of new records is always a good day.

New finds this week - full set of new release Metallica Colored vinyl arrived as well as some "ancient" Iron Maiden Picture Discs. Getting closer to a complete Maiden Picture disc catalog. They are fun to find.
