What other hobbies do you have besides K&C (1 Viewer)

Thanks OldDragon,

I couldn't be happier. I guess I better enjoy the next 12 years, because once she is a teenager, I'm sure its going to get tough.

Congratulations, Louis. Our first little one is due around November - not getting too nervous just yet - but looking at prams and all the rest of it now - :)

Louis / Dave congrats to you both.

And Louis, I think the 'it'll be tough in 12 years time when she is a teenager' thought is lovely. And totally unrealistic.
She'll have you around her little finger by the time she's 6 months old. ;)

Hi there

Not sure what you mean by your opening comment but I understand the question - :)

Don't know whether you have airsofting in Oz, but very basically it involves teams of guys and gals running around in woodland or BUAs dressed in tactical/military/camo clothing, armed with replica guns of various shapes and sizes which fire 6mm plastic ball bearings - as with most hobbies, there are various subcultural/interest groups that go to make up the overall hobby - my particular interest is WW2 airsofting, a relatively recent and growing aspect of the hobby - it's great fun - :D

What I meant was that some people sometimes get carried away with the differences in behaviour between girls and boys but imo it's more a difference in personalities between individuals rather than a sex based difference.

I've never heard of airsofting downunder or anywhere else for that matter :) In my younger days I was very keen on paintball/skirmish and airsofting sounds similiar but with smaller pellets because paintballs are about 25 mm in diameter.

We also wore camo playing skirmish and had to wear face masks in case you got shot in the eye, as it was the ball used to sting a bit when someone shot you at short range. Being in the sub tropics some skirmish setups here have bamboo, palms etc which gives the game a jungle feel such as in Vietnam or WWII New Guinea.

Wow - for anyone who thinks this is an aging hobby, look at all these babies on the way!! Now, I suppose that you all might be geezers married to 20 year old wives...that would perpetuate the stereotype.

Only for the 5-6 hours of sleep I get each night. Then when I wake up in the morning, everything's doubled. :D

From your lips to God's ear

I am one of three triplett boys and I thought I was unlucky. You know getting beaten up, getting ganged up on, stealing my stuff, breaking my toy soldiers and then claiming they diden't do it:eek: but y'all have convinced me that I am actually fortunate not to have a sister!!

Hi Oz

Understand now - and I think I mostly agree with that, although psychologists reckon gender differences are partly responsible for determining our personalities and predispositions - :)

Airsofting is essentially an extension of PB, but without the waxy, exploding paint balls - airsoft BBs don't explode on contact, unless they hit something hard, but they do sting if you're hit from close up, and the guns are exact copies of the real steel versions. A lot of the AS skirmish fields in the UK are owned by PB companies and some are shared with PBers, but other than that there really isn't much cross-fertilisation so to speak - there's a good deal of jokey rivalry etc. between participants of the two games. As a general rule, AS attracts an older crowd - :)

I play airsoft and the bbs can really hurt if you have heavy bbs and a high velocity. My brother has a high end aeg and he shot me while I was on the ground 39 times and the blood was streaming from my arm. Needless to say I don't play with him anymore.

I like:

Red wine, whisky, cognac.

I´m a Mason and love it!!

I´m just crazy about the period from year 1090 to 1314! Love all about Templars, Crusader etc.

Love medieval arms - swords, helmets, mace - you name it!

Love soccer and martial arts - Bruce Lee - you´re the best!!

Love my wife, children and grandchildren! And playing the guitar with my band!

And on a day like this - 20 degrees C. and slow rain! Its quite nice!;)

Templar,

Since you're a soccer fan, who do you support? I pull for Arsenal myself.

Reading, the new gf,(an unmeasureably vast improvement over the last one) Highland games, goofing off with you guys, making my own toy soldiers:D

Bleeding profusely from being shot in the arm eh? Hmmmmm....don't want to sound like a killjoy here, but dare I say that was a bit silly - that kind of behaviour could give airsofting a bad name.

Oz - I'm trying to attach some piccies here - partly for the hell of it to see if I can do it , partly to give you an idea of the sort of gear some of us 'softers' run around with - fingers crossed - ;)
