What Toy Soldier items Have You Acquired in The Last 2 Weeks ? (2 Viewers)

Tom

You would have left the shop today with quite a collection of German armour! Looking forward to those pictures now you have the room at home to set them up. Good to catch up and have a safe trip home to Darwin.

Jack

Thanks mate and yeah, it got a tad out of hand on how much stuff I got put aside! {sm2}{eek3}

A German Strumtiger Assault (Mortar) Tank (by New Model Army) in its original box for a surprising $10 at the Great East Toy Soldier Show. I also recently acquired for a bargain and free shipping a Mint-In-Box American M8 Stuart Howitzer Tank (Winter version by Collector Showcase). The M8 is a beauty, and comes with a thrown track option, a crew of three (observer, loader, and machine gunner), and a spare 50cal. Machine Gun (to be mounted when showing as an abandoned damaged tank). Turret can rotate, and howitzer can elevate. If you remove the Turret you will see a finished interior of the tank (a nice touch). Scale = 60mm (compatible with King & Country)

Picked up this French cavalry figure recently as well as some more Kronprinz a few weeks back. Slowly building up a square and next year will add the new K&C French cavalry and hopefully will have a fair size diorama this time next year!

Last months retirements flushed me out - again - now I have MK80 & 82, Saracen drummer and archer. They look fantastic!

Been looking for an SAS Jeep to augment my Western Desert exhibit, and it appears that KC has won out:

IMO, the weapon barrels would look a lot better if they hadn't been painted silver. Those parts and the headlights are the only ones on the vehicle to be so adorned, and they REALLY jump out at you. It's still a very nice set, though, so I'm pleased. BTW, I bound the front wheels up with rubber-band, "no skittering about in my display cases, no by golly!" ;)

Nice, I also like how you use the clear plexi stands to display items to make them stand out at different levels.

Hi PanzerAce,

Stands and risers are great for displaying pieces in a case that are at eye-level or higher. Without them, much of what's in the rear of the curio is hidden from view, occult if you will. Items at a lower level don't suffer so much, so I'm more sparing in my use of the devices down below. One way or the other, I love showing off my aircraft models and pilot figures to folks who visit my study. They really have a way of "bringing out the kid" in someone who loves aviation. I'd also note that I haven't been at this so long that I still don't pause, in passing, to appreciate them myself. Thanks for your comments.:)

I picked up a couple of cool Heco Tinplate Models accessories off of ebay: a tinplate out house (with a little toilet inside and "The Ritz" stenciled on the door) and a bunch of cool tinplate ammunition boxes, parts boxes and oil drums. Photos to follow upon receipt.:smile2:

Looking to really get into this range from CS next year. Very happy with this piece.
