Where are NEW CONTE CIVIL WAR Figures ?? (1 Viewer)

Returned, yes. With excellent looking product, sure. Big time? That is a matter of opinion. A lot of metal companies are considerably more prolific with a lot less drama or hype.

It never ceases to amaze me Jay whenever possible you make it point to post a sly or derogatory comment when it comes to Conte not only on this thread but I've notice on others as well. Granted your entitle to your opinions and have a right to state them but it's begining to be old hat. I have no idea what if anything you've contributed to or provided to the toy soldier community other than your opinions. Conte from the get go was a major source in returning playsets to the forefront along with some of the most exciting figures both in plastic and metal providing the collector with some of the finest sets and figures that have ever been done and continues to do so today. He may not have been in the forefont over the pass two years but he sure has return big time providing once again some of the finest if not the finest toy soldiers that are being offered today. There's no doubt you'll be commenting on my post and I'll be surprised if you don't. Please feel free to continue as you have but I assure you I'll consider the source.......Joe aka The Lt.

It's very possible you might change you mind good sir once you see them up close and maybe not but got a hunch you will

I doubt it. I own almost every Conte civil war set right up to the SOS series. My opinion, the quality has steadily gone down hill over the years. The SOS range was horrible. I don't even display them anymore. The figures being produced by K&C, Britain's, Collectors Showcase, and now First Legion are superior in every way in my opinion.

Had a hunch you'd be bring up the SOS range once again although some like yourself were disppointed with the way they turn out others were happy with them. You have every right to your opinion and there's no doubt the manfacturers you've mention provide the collectors with a nice selection of figures throughout their lines but they are far from superior to Conte in any way. As to your decision not to own any of his new set it's your choice but the quality of the figures speak for themselfs and there's no doubt a number of collectors are very please with what they see and looking forward to adding them to their collection........The Lt.

Lt. you are absolutely correct in that every one has their opinion as to quality. But let me ask you this question. Why is it so you almost have to give away Contes metal when it is put on ebay, not so with other makers.
Personally, again my opinion, to me that speaks loudly relative to where Conte is in the market place.
And yes I can speak from personal experiance. I took a bath when I sold off my Conte sets.
Since you are always praising Mr. Conte has any one ever related the story about Ron Barzso and R. Conte to you?
Gary

What's wrong with his introducing and selling his new series or any of his sets or figures on ebay. It takes nothing away from the quality of his toy soldiers or the way he conducts his business. Little Legion a major force in providing Glossy figures has been selling his sets and figure long before Conte on ebay. I'm sure there has been a number of collectors like yourself who have put sets and figures from other sources who found they didn't get what they wanted from them. It's also known that various sets and figures by Conte have done very well for those who've sold them on ebay and sets that are still sort after. Gary it's well known that you've no liking of Conte but it's also known correct me if I wrong you still own figures he's done as well a number of his converted figures done my someone esle. I have no interest in listening to tales being told out of school or what may have happen in the past they've nothing to do with the introduction of his new and upcoming releases. You have every right to your opinions and there's no doubt you'll continue to have them. I've no doubt though they're quite a few of us looking forward to what's headed our way from Conte and are very glad to see him back in the game.........Joe aka The Lt.

I've been collecting Ron's playsets since his first Rogers Rangers.. I for one would love to hear the story.......

As far as Ebay goes, Collectors Showcase has also sold on Ebay, and they certainly are producing quality products. Just another example.

Lt. I wrote a very long response to you but thought it better to let it be. Let him, and you, have your day.

I sit on the other side of the pond, here in the UK. Conte is unknown to many people even though it has been producing for many years. I myself originally became aware of the Company from an Ebay listing around 6 years, that was displayed in the W Britains section. It caught my eye. And I was hooked. Sourcing the sets here in the UK wasn't easy.

The new Zulu series has caught the imagination of collectors here. Those that see the figures in the flesh are expressing a preference over the WB range.

As for WB, prior to the takeover by 1st Gear. Around 3,500 sets were dumped onto the UK market via Ebay. A high proportion were the Collectors Club "Morning of Waterloo" series. Which to me were the equivalent of the SOS range. One dealer was delibrately buying up the sets and destroying the boxes. In order to create value for the secondary market for those that paid full price. WB's lost its image at that point. As collections overnight were devalued.

K&C is a brand. That is reflected in the price of the product. Conte do aim to make collecting affordable. K&C sell their product as an investment. With their product range targeted at the USA. A lot of series seem to quietly die a death as if sales of the range do not materilise. These sets can often be picked up at discounted prices as dealers clear stock.

Ebay is shop window to the world. I'm no fan but its the place to look for figures, particularly retired. The retailing world has moved on in the last 15 years.

If you must Gary relay the story send it via pm. Thanks

OH so I get told I am baiting members and you let Gary's post about the story still stand ?

I have no plans to order these, but if someone wanted too who is even a Conte dealer anymore besides Conteco themselves ? He whacked all of dealers I would even buy from. I will never order directly from Conte again. Has The Lt. been made a dealer ? :) This whole thread wreaks of Payola if you ask me.

I was wondering when you were going to attack Conte again not only him but me. First I'm not a dealer like yourself, second the new sets I own I've paid for and third the thread was started by Capitolron which I know he and others who have comment favorabley on his sets and figures I'm sure are not receiving any payola. They are a number of members on this forum who have commented and posted figures by other manufactures on their thread with praise as I also have for WBritain am I a WmBritain dealer. I started a thread introducing their Zulu War Series that's got over a 102,000 views. So those that threas spell of payola.Once again I'm going to consider the source and there's no doubt in my mind as well as many others that Conte's prodived and is still providing some of the finest toy soldiers on the market today with an outstanding number of happy customer. As I said before your entiled to your opions and comments but make sure you know what your talking about when it comes to me...........The Lt.
