Interesting to see that there are 3 votes for Korea yet only one- probably mine for Nam!!

I know that is very odd.

By the way, if you want to know who voted for what, simply click onto the number in the poll and it will display the names. :)

It's cool bro- you are right though, you would probably need about 100 or so categories- I was kind of worried that my comment might have come off brusque.

I got a feeling the guys who jumped into the "other" bucket are probably fans of Asian history.

Brad alluded to this earlier and you sort of mentioned it a little there as well- you HAVE seen Spanish Civil War figures?? That's intriguing.......

Amazing that no one picked ECW- I would much rather read about that period myself than ACW- it's a travesty as I line 30 minutes from Gettysburg.

I need to vote WW2 Pacific as well- I missed that one somehow- cool feature how it shows everyones votes.

Shoot- I'm locked out :(( Well, I'd snag one for WW2 Pacific as well.

Wraith and I are the lone representatives for the GWOT- Rock on Wraith!! :D

Yeah, I picked Korea partly because my grandfather served there but also because I was stationed there for a year myself- right on the freakin Z!!
Great place to be when your 18. Since then, I have tried to keep up with Korean current events.

Oh, it was Ron who voted for the Spanish CW- Well, that explains it, he is kind of a fascist :p:p:D

Hey General, what's with that Baldy Eagle avatar, you should have a Wedgie :D
You're right OzDigger I probably should have gone with a Red Kangaroo but I chose an eagle because of my American Civil War obsession. :D

Chris,
Del Prado do a Spanish Civil War figure.
BTW, I didn't know that you're a WWII Pacific War fan. Early, middle, late - or it all?
Cheers

I live eat and breath ACW. completely and totally obsessed. Always have been. I really like looking at all the periods folks collect though and I have started picking up a few things from other periods. I really like the Heratio Nelson era and have picked up a 1/72 scale HaT set and am piddling with building a foam sloop of war for a dio on that.

WWI, the French and Indian War, Napoleonics, ACW, the first two now being priorities. Why?
I have just finished watching the BBC's the Great War documentary and have a good book on WWI to start reading ( Martin Gilbert's ), my country ( Portugal ) fought in this war ( I even had an older and long deceased relative who was in the Portuguese army in France, there is an old bayonet somewhere in my Mother's house ) and there are plenty of good glossy or matte figures for this period.
FIW-the colourful uniforms, the Woodland Indians, the misty forests from the Last of the Mohicans...and Britains wonderful Redcoats/Bluecoats for this period.
Napoleonics-other books to read about Waterloo and the Peninsular War ( my country got invaded by Mr. hand in pocket:D but the British helped us get rid of him ). The colorful uniforms and great figures for this period.
ACW-also some colorful uniforms, interesting History, great figures also to be found and...the 54th Massachusetts.

On Spanish Civil War, Hiriart has some excellent figures for this period.

I'm with the one other poster who checked in for the Seven Years War, though given that there have only been 2 of us so far, and that the General's right, the forum members are probably mostly Americans, it speaks for itself that the SYW wasn't a choice.

And I and the other poster would probably part company, too, because my interest is more for the European theater in that war, rather than the colonial battlefield here. I'm an admirer of Frederick the Great (first foreign leader to recognize the newly-independent US, by the way) and his army.

Whatever your favorite period, though, I think it's safe to say that we're living in a golden age for collectors, even when we compare our time to the classic era of toy soldiers, when our grandfathers or great-grandfathers were boys. What a great selection there is available to us!

Regards,
Brad

Plus we have the added advantage to be able to purchase many of the toy soldiers they played with as boys. :D

I am passionate about collecting K&C's Nap range. I have all of them except the new Russians. I will remedy that soon. It is pretty funny considering that I can't remember the last time I read a book on this subject! Most of my reading now is on the American War of Independence, the French & Indian War, War of 1812 and World War I. I love all history, but I go through phases. About 4 years ago, I must have read about 10 books in a row on the Crusades. I have touched another book on that subject in probably 2 years.

As far as the other ranges, I buy figures I like for small displays. I am not going to buy an entire range other than the Naps. Just too expensive. At my office, I have some AWI, some Alamo figures with facade, and some John Jenkins figures.

Though I never owned any plastic Naps as a child, it just seems to me that when I think of toy soldiers in general, my mind's eye pictures Naps by default. Must be the uniforms! Anyone else like that?

Yes! While I collect several periods from Rome to WWII, I always come back to Napoleonic. Other than a visit to Waterloo as a kid with my father I can't say why. They just look so cool! Just started the K&C Russians and they are awesome. Now If Andy will read this thread and make plans for some Austrians in 09:), after all Ron needs an army for his Guard to whup up on:D. Can you say the unfortunate General Mack;).

Yes I am like that too. I only collect Naps and am passionate about K&Cs range although I have started buying Patriots Naps also. Not sure what it is about Naps other than the look of them. I can't even display them at present so never get to see them. But I know they are spectacular and one day when I get a house that has a west wing in it, I will get them all out and send a photo or two..
