The discussion about who got Wittmann is very much like the discussion that surrounds who got von Richthofen, only not as old or fierce. In the end, it doesn't matter accept as an exercise in history. It is the fascination surrounding these aces that makes the discussion interesting and thus the clamour to assign credit for the kill. Both aces died fighting for their country, killed by equally brave men fighting for theirs. As said before, absolute certainty as to who killed who so many years after the event is probably never going to be solved but all the discussion and educated answers sure make it interesting, to the extreme. How can anyone not like this kind of debate? This is what makes the hobby and history worth participating in. -- Al
