This is one of my favorite threads on the entire forum. Creating a collection of "light artillery" has crossed my mind on more than one occasion. If I don't, it's not because I'm any less interested in the subject matter. Rather, I'm concerned that I'd end up as a hopelessly conflicted case of "toy pilot/light artillery collector." Now, how goofy looking would that assemblage be on display!:redface2:

Well done, all, for this ongoing tribute to the king of battle.^&cool

Always get a nice feeling from following this thread and freely admit my collect is heavy in vehicles but light on artillery.

Can always hope that more artillery pieces will be released by K&C, JJD etc

Regards
Mark

Garrison Guns are W.B. Britains (old New Orleans), John Jenkins are the field carriages, and the mortars in far background are Manes Marzano. Those WBB garrison cannons are very nice, not labeled as to gun poundage, but for now I am comfortable calling them 12, 16 (French) or 18 pounders (British).

The gun embrasures along the curtain wall are correct to width and scale, except the gun opening maybe a tad wide in some cases.

Barracks buildings are under renovation. They should be back in place soon, mid-week at the latest. So had a chance to get a few pictures when not crowded and newly dusted. And the seam across the parade ground is no gone, gone, gone.

Yeah, I love the artillery!!!

I am very happy that a two year old projct that I started with Obee is now concluded!....This new fantastic set started as an idea after Obee finished assembling a fantastic French Foreign Legion garrison...and me having read in excess of ten books, between reference and novels on FFL, visited some of their forts in Morrocco and come back home crazy for all FFL related ideas .........Then I went out and started scavanging for the necessary sets to build a FFL 75 battery, like the ones the FFL used in the Atlas Mountain campaigns ( Morrocco ). It was not an easy task source the parts and I have to say a lot of luck ...to be in the Market looking for the artillery pieces at the same time these rare sets were being offered around.....Parts came for the UK, USA, France and Belgium...were sent to Down Under and master Obee gave them life....:salute:::salute::
Then came the detailed research as to artillery pieces, uniforms of the soldiers and officers, the way they would sit on the guns, man the different positions loading, priming the ammunition, the ammo cassions and set up of what a gun section would look like, we used dozens of French Army period photographs....and now these sets are now here, firing the last salvo before onboarding a troopship to cross the seas to their final home in the Tropics.....
Thanks a lot Obee...:salute:::cool:
Cheers
