If K&C packaged up rocks and sold them as strictly limited half you collectors would buy them and tell everyone else how great they are.

I have nothing against Treefroggers. Just expensive poor quality TS. I rate K&C #5 amongst the current companies today. Quality before quantity.

chocolate mousse,

You have been persistently negative in many posts in the K&C sub-forum. It does not seem to be the case when you post in other manufacturer sub-forums.

If you are not happy with K&C, please do not post in this sub-forum to spoil our enjoyment with the hobby.

Please do not insult other collectors by saying they would buy "rocks" and be happy. That is disrespectful to say the least.

Oh dear such sillyness at Easter, I think I'll go and eat a chocolate mouse, oops I mean egg, with my cuppa.^&grin{eek3}

Gentle Friends,

Some of you have strayed from the original topic and the thread has become rather dicey. There is certainly room for different opinions, but those opinions should be shared respectfully with one another.

We all have favorite manufacturers and to speak disrespectfully about another person's favorite only promotes ill will. Please enjoy your favorites without degrading other collectors' favorites. To do otherwise on this thread is to risk modertor intervention and possible penalties.

Thanks for your cooperation.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

Thank You PAT!

That is an interesting list, Chocolate Mouse.

I am curious to know what were the variables used in the deduction of that ranking.

Quality of painting / Cost per figure / Historical accuracy /Scale / Varity of Poses / Interest in the time period / or many others.

No matter what combination of variables I use, I always get K&C at the top or very close.

You also left off many other superior makers such as Niena, John Jenkins, Honour Bound, Front Line and more.
Be it Toy Soldiers, Art, Fine Wine, Old Cars or whatever someone collects, each is special and important to the person who sees the beauty and wonder in that piece.

For me, K&C may not place first in every category but when you do a comparison in more than one dimension your list is simply WRONG! -- Larry

I was warned by some other Treefroggers that anything that is said about K&C that isn't positive despite being acurate would be defended by dedicated collectors no matter what. And also that many other Treefroggers agree with many of my comments but gave up trying to post themselves because it caused arguments and penalties from moderators. I don't care if my opinions, and that's all they are, upset anyone because this is supposed to be a toy soldier forum for discussion. My opinions may differ than most but I'm not a cheerleader. I have nothing against K&C. In fact,I probably have a larger K&C collection than most collectors. I continue to buy some of their products still. They are not what they were. I can see that what I was warned about is acurate.

They are not what they were.

To try to inject a note of levity into this dour conversation, this line remind me of Coach Dennis Green's tirade several years ago -- "the Bears are who we thought they were" -- which you can find easily on Youtube. If you've never seen it, it's something else.

I think what you are experiencing is the line between opinions and facts. I agree, everyone has their opinion and that is good for the hobby. We all believe our opnions are facts.

Couple of my opinions here that I think are pertinent to the original discussion on the Wooden vehicles.

I believe they are highly collectible i.e. highly valuable because they are extremely limited, the medium used is quite rare in this industry (its not polystone) and they are "ancient history" with regard to current offerings. If you are a completist collector or you focus on early K&C, then they are must haves at whatever price you are willing to pay.

Regarding quality, I don't think that enters into the collector who is collecting these. They are not looking at accuracy, they are looking at them as art and beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Now, onto your other statements. I truly believe that everyone views quality in a number of ways, the better word is "style". I tend to like certain style of certain manufacturers because they appeal to me.

I also believe that the word quality is much more prevalent today because of the seemingly never ending rising costs. I am guilty of looking at newer models and saying "not worth it". Is that quality? style? I dunno, mainly opinion!

I don't think the forum is anti one manufacturer over another as a whole. I just think that in the past there have been certain "very vocal" issues between a few fans of 2 manufacturers.

Here is an opinion. Of the new T34's there is one very clear winner in the category of Price and Quality - Figarti. My opinion.

The forum is for discussion but simply popping into a thread and commenting negativity for the sake of it will not be tolerated. Saying people would buy rocks if they were by K&C adds nothing to the discussion and is really quite negative and unnecessary. Saying I do not like the xxx paint scheme as I feel it is a lot darker than what would have been used is much more acceptable.

I understand what you are saying. But posting commments about eating chocolate mousse referencing my user name is ok? Why? Because its in defense of K&C. I never have or ever would insult any individual on this forum even when they do it to me.
