wooden warriors (1 Viewer)

I found the trucks in a thrift store. I was surprised how well the guns fit on them. I repainted them added a few supplies and some stars. Made my guns transportable. A gun does a army no good if he cant transport them. I really try hard to cover all aspects of support units for my little army. Even the best Tiger Tank does no good without a fuel truck bringing up the rear.:)
Get them in the dirt

Charlie, you do know how to play. Nothing wrong with the ole Marx battle ground guys, they were the best at one time. Great paint jobs, that looks like troops on the move. From what I can see, the Gerrys are in for fight. That is a great slogan, Get em in the Dirt. Battle On, Mike.

Thanks Mike
No nothing wrong with the battlground guys. They have the most play appeal to me. I guess I am stuck in the past. But I love it here. In my mind you should all buy a bag of marx recast and try setting them up in your flower garden some afternoon . You might be surprised at the fun you would have.
Couldnt hurt anything.
Charlie:)

China Gun Boat

Nice boat Charlie, I can tell you have put many years into this hobby. I'm not sure what scale that is, but it looks great. I don't feel what I'm doing is crazy anymore. It takes time to develope your skills, it your work shows this. Great pics. Mike:)

Thanks Mike But I am afraid I cant take the credit for this one. I helped him on it but my brother designed and built this one. I am not sure of the scale Either but it is about 21/2 feet long. Your not crazy just got the toy soldier bug and I am afraid there is no cure for it. Have Fun!
Thanks
Charlie

China Gun Boat

I have already started to look for reference photos and the like to try and build a 54mm version of this, out of wood..........Dorset makes 2 versions of river gunboats with crews and weapons and they also make the ship guns and crews as separate sets. I will buy these to man my boat........Attached are the Dorset ships..........Michael

The civil war gunboat is definitely on my list. I am reading Sands of Pride. the authors name is Trotter. Has a lot of gunboat action.:D

Is this made from wood or metal? Would you be able to make just the hull for whomever might want to pay for one......Thanks, Michael

This is made from wood the hull is a solid piece of wood and a little hard to find. I will talk to my brother about just a hull but what on earth would just a hull do for you ?

Those Dorset boats are great! Real toy soldiers. Great for getting the youngsters interested in the hobby.

Charlie, I am a pretty good modeler, but I do not have the tools or capentry skill for doing the hull right. If I can get a premade hull, the rest of the other detail stuff is easy for me, as I already have the immediate means to complete that part of it. There are model reference sites all over the net for these kinds of gunboats and so it would not be terribly hard to mimic the layout of just about any ship we would choose to. I have some hulls I could use now, but in 54mm, they would be sized for torpedo boats and nothing else...Michael
