World Cup in Brazil (1 Viewer)

Like with France/Germany, Argentina/Belgium could have gone either way. I believe we are reaching a level where we are not going to see a lot of goals, hopefully no more games ending up with penalty kicks either...Looking forward to watching the Oranjes against Costa-Rica! Should be a great game!

DiMaria is out of the Cup; he has a muscle tear. That's a big loss.

Ahh, what a disappointment. God, I hate the Dutch  I will have to wait for Wednesday where they will hopefully be shown the door

They will not. It's Argentina's turn (at least in the semis) and let's not forget no European team has ever won in the Americas.

That might change this year :wink2:
I can see Germany vs. Netherlands in the finale game on Sunday 07/13/14 ^&grin

I see Germany but hoping for Brasil against Argentina; I am wearing blue and white today ^&cool

That is indeed true but history cannot be ignored and if I had to pick a team to win from Europe it would be the Germans.

A Colombian paper in its headline today calls the Spanish ref a son of a you know what. The Times suggests today that the injury to Neymar was a culmination of physical play that begin with the hard tackles to James to which the Colombians did not initially respond but which eventually led to the Colombians being quite upset and that Brasil bear some responsibility for what happened.

From Paul Carr at Espnfc.com: although this is the first time South Americans are in a semi final since 1970, this is the first time Brasil and Argentina have been in a semi final together. Also, this is only the second time Germany and Brasil have squared off in the WC.

For those of you who are on Twitter, Paul is a good read.

He's also been appearing on Men in Blazers from time to time.

There are now 4 great Soccer Teams left to "battle" for the Championship.
No matter who will be on top at the end, we should be able to watch four great matches throughout next week.
The semi finals on Tuesday (Germany vs. Brazil) and Wednesday (Argentina vs. Netherlands).
The match for place 3 on Saturday and then the Grand Finale on Sunday.

I'm really hoping to see fair played and attractive Soccer in any/all of those matches.

May the best team win :salute::

I saw that Schweinsteiger commented that the refs restrain Brasil's physical play and I hope the refs will be more cognizant on Tuesday.

If I were the Argentine Federation, I'd ask FIFA to warn the Dutch about keeping the Dutch goalie in check, if it should come to a shootout, as some of his actions came close to crossing the line yesterday. See this article in the Guardian, http://www.theguardian.com/football...herlands-keeper-tim-krul-intimidation-tactics

Jazz,

He came close, but he has every right to talk smack, jump around, make faces, do a dance or do the whole "hey batter, batter" thing to get into the minds of his opponents. They do the same thing to him via body language and if they wanted to talk some smack they could if they wanted too. Those guys talk more smack they were even can hear and Suarez proved these guys can even bite.

Like I said, its gonna get uglier, meaner and nastier as we get closer to the WORLD Championship.

Later,

John from Texas
