World Cup in Brazil (1 Viewer)

If I were the Argentine Federation, I'd ask FIFA to warn the Dutch about keeping the Dutch goalie in check, if it should come to a shootout, as some of his actions came close to crossing the line yesterday. See this article in the Guardian, http://www.theguardian.com/football...herlands-keeper-tim-krul-intimidation-tactics

I don't think it was cheating as the article suggests, but it was certainly unsportsman like. The players from Costa Rica showed a lot of restraint not popping that guy one while he was jumping around in their faces. There is nothing about gamesmanship involved with that. He was simply being a jerk. That fact that he made a couple of great saves doesn't make his behavior any better.

Hi Guys, sorry for being "of-line", but Friday early morning I flew to Fortaleza to watch Brazil X Colombia (on a lucky strike I got the tickets at the last moment, was almost impossible to book a flight!) and stayed there for the weekend (Fortaleza and its surrounding areas have beautiful beaches...). Read all the threads recently posted here and the only comment I make is that if the ref didn't forget his yellow and red cards at the hotel ^&grin, Neymar would probably be playing tomorrow against Germany. I was there, close to the field, and the fact is that both teams played rough and if I have to pick the "trouble maker" of the game it wasn't even Zuñiga, it was Cuadrado (who left shortly before the end), who was mentoring it all and even playing the ref...

Welcome back Carlos and I'm sure you had an excellent time! Are you going to the semis? Did you take any photos at the quarters. Please post them if you did and have the time.

I'm still sticking with Brasil, notwithstanding Neymar's absence. The crowd will be super pumped up and will be the "12th man."

I'm hoping for the matchup that I think FIFA would like to see: Brasil vs. Argentina.

I think you want to see a European Team in the finals. There is a lot of money to be made in Europe for FIFA.

Actually, I don't but however it plays out it should be a great final. You could have

Brasil vs. Argentina
Germany vs. Argentina
Brasil vs. Holland
Germany vs. Holland

My first preference would be the first but barring Brasil winning its semifinal, then the second. I wonder how much, if anything, the loss in 1978 to Argentina plays into Holland's thinking. I'm sure van Gaal will have a couple of tricks up his sleeves. Then, of course, what about the loss by Germany to Brasil in 2002. There must be some motivation there too. Many great story lines with these four. Let's hope Robben is not wearing his swimming trunks :wink2:

Carlos,

I knew you were cheating on us.

Brad,

Unfortunately I haven`t got tickets for tomorrow`s game. I only have tickets for the last game to be held here in Brasilia, 3rd and 4th place on Saturday. There`s an eerie felling amongst the vast majority of people here due to the fact that it`s Germany, and we`re 2 down: Neymar and Thiago Silva... It`s funny, but you can feel these last 3 days the atmosphere around every conversation, every TV or radio show, everywhere here. On the other hand these same people will be, as you well said, the "12th man"! Alea jacta est....!

Today's referee is the so called Chiquidrácula, the referee who missed the Suarez bite. He is known as a disciplinarian and is probably the kind of ref needed to keep things in check since if Brasil's matches with Chile and Colombia are a guide, it will be rough. I can see a few yellow being handed out and possibly a red.

For Brasil to win, I think it is incumbent they get a lead. If Germany goes ahead, the sharks will be in the water and if it's an early goal, as the match progresses it could get very ugly. Frankly, if Germany goes ahead, it's probably game, set and match. Germany have too many weapons for Brasil to target one player. In addition, European football is not for the meek so I'm quite sure they will be to handle anything that may be thrown their way.

Germany is my pick to head to the grand finale on Sunday.

Should be a good one, I am going with Brazil.

Another impressive rendition of the National Anthem! We should all have such passion.

Fasten your seatbelts.

Brasil!

Well, that didn't take long. There could be hell to pay.

They are totally screwed. This could get a lot of worse.

My goodness. This is a real thrashing. I feel sorry for the fans but Brazil was not ready or not interested, or both. Very ugly. -- Al

I have never seen anything like this in a semi final. I'm shocked beyond all comprehension.

Germany better save some goals for the Final.

So much for Brazil rallying around the suspension and the injury...............what a thrashing.

The Germans are just surgical; the shot is not there, they don't just drill it into bodies, they make the extra pass and set up another player for a gimme goal.

Soccer perfection.

Brazil started the game on offence and dominated for almost 15 minutes. But when they had to defend, the defense wasn't there. Without Thiago Silva, their defence was disorganized and amateurish. Germany isn't doing anything special at all. The Brazilian defence is non-existent giving the Germans free rein from mid-field in.. In all the years i've been watching soccer, this has to be the worst defence I have ever seen by a national team.
