nice figure but again with gas mask ? Seems Tom loves figures with gas masks
guy:)

Nice to see the BEF arriving at the front! The british steel helmet often seems to cause model soldier manufacturers a problem, but TG seem to be spot on here. Gas warfare was one of the significant aspects of WWI combat, so its important to see this (however sinister) reality reflected in miniature. Hope there are more Brits in the pipeline - say a Lewis gun team.

I don't see an issue for the gas mask myself. As mentioned gas and WWI are almost synonymous with each other. If they were not done people would be asking why not some poses with gas masks??

How come he doesn't seem to wearing puttees ????

That's most unusual, unless he's an officer, sharpshooter ???

Yes John was thinking the same thing, will wait and see the final product.

Maybe he has 'captured' some German Boots ????

or bought his own riding boots, if he's an officer???

In this figure, by Tommy's War http://tommyswar.co.uk/product/tw54013-captainroyal-welsh-fusiliers-ploegstert-1915/ that I painted, the officer has an elephant gun , and his own 'Wellingtons' to enable him to pick off Germans and survive the foot rot in the muddy trenches.

The figure, a Captain, is shown carrying a private purchase Jefferey Farquharson sporting rifle. Early trench life was dangerous due to the activities of enemy snipers. Images of the time show officers taking private hunting rifles to combat the threat.

Interesting ?????

They do look like officer's field boots but then he's wearing 1908 webbing!

Not to mention a most unorthodox firing position, the hand on the magazine wouldn't give much control and the toes down posture would be most uncomfortable. His musketry instructor would be apopletic. Trooper
