WW2 Marines - Pacific (1 Viewer)

By the way, with the focus on the Marines - I just had to remind everyone that the Army was not only there but they had more men and resources involved in the Pacific than the USMC. If I remember right the ARMY actually did more amphibious landings than the Marines did. The Marines had several famous opposed invasions and had better PR than the Army in the Pacific. Not to denigrate the USMC, just to remind us that there were other services, therefore more opportunity for figures, vehicles, boats, etc.

And let us not forget how they all got where they were going -- U.S. Navy-- peace through superior aircraft carriers, battleships, cruisers, DD's, DE's, submarines, and the all important transports/support vessels. -- lancer

Let's also remember the Coast Guard, the oft forgotten service, who cox'ned many of the landing craft in Pacific assaults.
Have to agree. Everyone played a part

Great point Bill, I had two uncles who were in the Coast Guard in WWII, a third in the navy who served on an LST and a fourth who was a Marine; sadly, all but for my uncle who served in the navy are gone now................

looks like there's enough people waiting for someone to take their advice and great suggestions and create some good Pacific War boxed sets of figures. Sounds like a captive audience waiting to spend their money..

Brian - read what the K&C forum is saying about Pacific Theater sets. I'm staying in it just for cheerleading purposes. People do want more than Normandy campaign stuff!! As far as I'm concerned, whoever comes out with it first, gets my money..

I'm with you too Kingtoot. I just ordered the entire series of Wake Island, no matter how large it gets!!...................Stryker II

i know what you mean - i just ordered the Marines. The Japanese look good, too - well animated and painted

I'm just curious, when's the last time Brian (Collectors Showcase) committed to releasing USMC Pacific WW2 sets. I mean aside from his comments in the first couple of pages of this thread.

If so, when did he say it was coming because heard nothing about them at the Texas Show this month. Maybe it's mum's the word.

The thread is cool about talking about history and the such, but I'm just wondering if I missed anything official about some kind of release date because I to am a hugh collector of this period.

Did I miss anything?

Carlos

I think he said the time wasn't right even though he liked what was subsequently posted about the possibilities.

Too bad for him. Over 177 postings on this WW2 Pacific Theater thread and he can't read the handwriting on the wall? Obviously these people do want something different and are telling CS exactly what they want to spend money on.

i know thats what i'm saying!!!..................stryker ii

I,m not being a smart a--, but I believe 170 of the 177 postings for Marines were done by two people, Stryker & Kingtoot.
I,m with Jazz on this, I believe he said he was not going to do it as there is not enough interest to warrant it financially.
I don,t have a dog in this fight as I don't collect CS.
I will ask this tho, as I still have not received an answer, what was wrong with K&C,s last issue of Japs?
I have them and think they are great.
Gary

So if you don't collect cs, which this is thier section, why do you even care??????.....................yes you can add another posting for me since you seem to be keep ing track so well.............stryker ii

Of this 20 page Pacific thread, 177 postings from 34 different people, only two people - jazzeum and gK5717, were completely negative on this subject. If this isn't your cup of tea I'm sure that K&C is coming out with another Tiger tank or Hitler variation any day now. Collector's Showcase did their part by leading us on with the early pages, telling how motivated they were and feeling goosebumps, BANZAI!!, etc. If you're not gonna create something bold and new, then tell us right off. We'll take our money elsewhere.

Hey, I'm not completely negative on the subject. As a general rule, the topic doesn't interest me but if I see something I like I'm easy to change. The Wake Island stuff looks pretty neat and who knows... I hope Pacific items get made because there are people out there who want to buy them.

P.S. I'm tired of the German stuff too.

Let us see how well the Figarti/Hobby Bunker sets do. I think Figarti does much smaller runs than K&C so in theory, they can make money on smaller runs. The smaller runs give the pieces a chance to sell out to the smaller group of Pacific collectors. That may encourage CS to do the same. But do not wait for K&C as I remember Andy saying in one of the K&C TV videos that the Iwo Jima sets underperformed and he was going to focus on other lines and probably not produce more Pacific set.

Understand my frustration - I've said it before and i'm not kissing anybody's butt, CS makes great figures, no doubt. I think their animation, poses, sculpting, equipment, are great. I don't like glossy figures. I just think that with their artistic skills and exciting presentations, only they can come up with some great diorama pieces of a battle that almost everybody agreed on, Tarawa. They can capture the raw battle in their realistic matte finish style. As far as K&C's japanese, the sculpting was good but the poses were very stiff.

AGREED!! AND FOR A CERTAIN "SOMEONE", THAT SEEMS TO BE KEEPING TRACK OF POSTS THAT I MAKE---ADD ANOTHER ONE ON THIS SUBJECT!!! AS I RECALL, IT WASN'T KINGTOOT OR MYSELF THAT PUT IN BOLD LETTERS "BANZAII"--FUNNY, WHY WASN'T THAT QUESTIONED FROM THIS INDIVIDUAL? iF YOU DON'T LIKE TO READ ABOUT THIS THREAD, AND YOU ARE NOT A CS CUSTOMER ANYWAY--(YOUR WORDS), THEN BY ALL MEANS GO SEARCH FOR MORE EUROPEAN JUNK AND PERHAPS SOMEONE WILL BRING OUT HITLER'S TOILET FOR YOU TO GRAB!!!............STRYKER

Stryker you are yelling! I noticed the last post was in caps.
I think you are missing my point. I am not negative on the Pacific stuff. I have all of K&C,s Marines & Japs, I have all of Figartis Wake Island sets that have been released and I will pre order the upcoming sets. I also have TSSD,s plastic Tarawa playset.
What I,m saying is these Pacific sets have proven from a business stand point, not to be big sellers for whatever the reason, and I don,t know either.
I,ll rephrase my terminoligy from my one post, for just a few people to constantly ask for a product when they have been advised that it is not feasable gets rather tiresome.
Yes, you are correct I don,t have to read these post or for that matter Collectors Showcase, but I try to stay informed with all the different companies. And since I do collect K&C Pacific and that has been brought up I do feel I have the right to respond.
So unless you respond questioning my relationship with my parents, I will comment no more on this subject.
