Yeomanry Miniatures (1 Viewer)

Brian,

there is always a place on the battlefield for more ARTILLERY, so "bring up the guns" :)

I think that the 13 and 18 Pounders have been well and truly covered by many makers, but TAW was instrumental in producing the Heavy Artillery, so that sort of gun will be most welcome, together with with the 'hot and sweaty' gunenr, serving those pieces.

Making interchangeable heads would be great, then we could have gunners for various armies, and campaigns, so tin hat, cap, slouch hat, sun hat would be most suitable.

Then we could have dioramas like these:

Hi Luiz and John,

The Position with regard to Artillery is as follows:-

I have already taken delivery of the masters for a number of guns and limbers but in the main I still require crews for them.

1) I have recently put into moulds a 12 pound Napoleon with limber and ammunition wagon for my new ACW Series. A 12 pound Parrot has also been put into a mould. A Confederate set of figures manhandling the Napoleon is about to be put into a mould.

2) Masters received for a 9 pdr Rifled Muzzle Loader and Limber for The Buckinghamshire Yeomanry Artillery. Master figures still required.

3) I have received the masters for a 13 and 18 pdr with limber. Again master figures required to go with them.

4) In the pipeline, to be made, the 15pdr QF gun made by the German Company Ehrhardt together with limber and ammunition wagon. Issued to British Troops in South Africa and still in use in 1916 by some Territorial Units in France.

5) Also to be made a 60 pdr, but this will not materialise until the latter half of 2013.

There are a number of other projects which are already in the pipeline which will have to be cleared before items 4 & 5 can be started, however, it is my intention to produce all items in both the finished painted form as well as supplying castings for those who derive their pleasure from the hobby by assembling and painting their purchases. So look out for new releases on the forum.

Regards,

Brian.

Brian,

thanks for the good news of the forthcoming pieces and crews.

I didn't realise that you were venturing into the ACW, but I expect that our US collectors will be overjoyed to get some new troops on their own battlefield.

The more obscure guns, like items 2 & 4 will be a real find in the gun park, but more 13 & 18 pounders with appropriate crews will also help keep 'the Hun' at bay, so bring them on!!

Looks like 2013 will be another good one for you and Yeomanry, so keep up the good work,

John

Hi Brian,

Thanks a lot for the great news, specially regarding the items (2) and (4)!! I am also a Crazy guy for the heavies hence the 60 pdr is more than welcome!! Any idea of adding more heavies? I guess that many of us collectors that did not reach the market when TAW was at its highest productive levels and may not have seen or bought heavies, and Mountford quiting the market........Hence, we missed great opportunites to add them to our collections.
Cheers

Hi Luiz.

As with all things in this business the success of previous releases has to pay for the development of new items, as well as pay the rent. Especially in a one man operation like mine. I have plans to continue with WW1 releases including more heavy guns, armoured cars, etc. and to develop the WW2 "Home Front" range with the K2 Ambulance, a Beaverette car, a Bofors gun, a 3.5" anti-aircraft gun and maybe even a search light. There are also plans to develop my new ACW series and to expand some of the other ranges which have seamed to fall by the wayside with the interest over the last 12months with the First World War.

However it's all subject to being able to fund the development of the various items my customers want produced and some of the items I want to make but it all depends on sales!

Regards to all,

Brian

I have recently finished making up one of Brian's products - and being very pleased with it - thought that I would show him ( and any other Treefroggers interested), how it had turned out. It's the Household Cavalry maxim Carriage that Brian makes once again - under the Yeomanary Miniatures banner, which he showed in RHG version some time ago. I liked it so much, I bought a castings kit and assembled and painted mine, though this time as a 2nd life Guards set.

Here's my version below. Note that I mounted mine on an old flagged paving courtyard foot - and included chains to connect up the marvelously sculpted pair of horses ( Alan Caton's work - once agin, I think) - as I wanted the figures to remain static. I hope Brian doesn't mind too much with my small alterations.

Lovely to assemble and paint - I enjoyed almost every moment - until it came to forgetting to paint the horses BEFORE I had mounted them on the stand I had made!!! ( So had to take one off again - then paint 'em - and mount them once again!).

I enjoyed them so much - I have now bought them a five-peice Escorting Group of Mounted figures - which will be in the pipeline for a future project - in their turn! Thanks Brian ( and Alan), here they are below. - johnnybach

Hi JB, a very nice paint job on a fine set of figures! {bravo}}

Jeff :salute::

Lovely stuff JB. To repeat a previous post - a shiny red coat is always highly attractive no matter what era. Anyone would be proud to own and display that!

How did you get the flesh colour?
Regard
Malcolm

Thanks Malcolm, glad you like them. The flesh colour came out of a tin of Humbrol ( all I ever use) marked 61 (Flesh). I usually mix in a little bit of red-Brown (100)to give a little colour to the cheeks. I also use that mixture for an all-over tan - for hot climate colour to skin. jb

You just have to keep up Scott - excuses like "it wuz my Birthday Guv" mean you might miss something! ^&grin

Looking at them again - I think that at least one of the horses is too light a colour. The HC is noted for it's near black horses - so at some point, I think that I'll darken the lighter one down to a near black. Quite pleased with how the base came out though. jb

By the way - hope you had a good one - with plenty of goodies!

Just got confirmation from Brian that my RAF Mobile Canteen and figures are on their way!:smile2:

You won't be disappointed Louis. I have my kit version - which is in the pipeline for building and painting at some future point. Snag is, I have a backlog of other projects stacking up before it - so it will just have to wait its turn.

I MUST STOP BUYING STUFF!!!!!!! jb
