Yeomanry Miniatures (1 Viewer)

Hi.
Nice set!
Do you have a web address where I can locate the catalog for Yeomanry Miniatures?
Thanks,
MikeNick

Hi,

At the moment I don't have a web site but I can be reached at "yeomanryminiatures@virginmedia.com". If you would like to let me have your mailing address I will send you the latest edition of my listing for which I make no charge. I am working on a colour catalogue at the present and have many pictures of the figures contained in this and there will be many more before the catalogue is finished. At this stage I will set up a web site.

If, after you have received the listing, there are any items you would like to see pictures of all you have to do is let me have your E-mail address and I will send you as many pictures as I have of the items you are interested in.

Best wishes,

Brian.

I bought some of Brian's (Yeoman), 2nd Lifeguard Escorts (in Marching Order), for the Lifeguard version of the maxim Machine Gun a while ago - realised that I had (once again) bought too many castings - so put them away for a later date - and, in due course, almost forgot about them.

Dusting my cabinets a while later - I thought about them once again - and took 'em back out.

This is the first of the mounted Troopers - stood in front of my maxim - and a fine figure he is too. I'll be working through the rest of the five-piece escort (Officer, NCOTrumpeter and another Trooper) next.

Thanks Brian,( and Alan Caton - who sculpted them) - he's just a great figure). jb

Need to work around getting casts for a set like yours but using in my set the overseas Victorian khaki uniforms and pith helmets.....:D:D That is in my list for 2015.....along with a few other ideas I need to check with Brian....

Yep! - Agreed Luiz - sets like these - which can all be made to be slightly different from each other - are difficult to match - as they have often been made to suit a very specific time in history. I like to build and paint them just how I like to see them ( which for me - is glossy!) - and frequently make up differing bases for them too.

Very nice indeed - and very satisfying. jb

Update on progress. I now have two more figures to add to my small Escort group to the HC Maxim.

To the front is a mounted Officer - with a Mounted NCO turned slightly in the saddle to have a quick word (lovely figure this!), - and my other Mounted Trooper now on the far side.

As usual, I have a few details to correct - such as the bases to the new figures, which have to be softened down to suit the maxim base - as the white pointing between courtyard slabs is a bit too white yet. My last Trooper and trumpeter (on a grey horse) are underway, so will show these when completed later on.

Any internet adress for Yeomanry ?

Best

Hi Mirof - You can always contact Brian Harrison (Yeoman) by PM - as he is a member here. Alternatively, you can also contact him by Internet - his address is:

yeomanryminiatures@virginmedia.com

I think that Brian still doesn't have a web-site, as being a one-man small business, he runs on pretty small margins - but he does provide a paper catalogue for anybody interested in his figures and vehicles - which customers can purchase either as painted, or as I do - as unpainted castings. I can vouch for the castings - as being of model quality, being superbly sculpted by Alan Caton. Brian is also a very helpful chap regarding any advice on painting his figures - and provides detailed painting instructions for each of his figures.

Hope that helps - jb

Horse Artillery is really fun, very nostalgic, no matter what period I collect pre WWII I am always looking for horse Artillery.

Guys,

I vouche for that, Brian´s knowledge of Victorian Military and artillery as a whole is absurdly great........^&grin^&grin...and then the sets are amazing and accurate to the last detail...
Cheers
Luiz

Hi Martyn. Yes - the trouser stripe has been causing me problems. Mine are 2nd Lifeguards in Marching Order c.1900. As such - they should have the double scarlet stripe - with another scarlet stripe in the centre. Try as I might - I just can't get it to show up - by painting two wide stripes in scarlet - with a thinner one in the centre, in the same colour - to show up on the figure. It just merges into one wide stripe!

Here's a pic that I've been using - but when I try to show the central stripe - it just merges with the two wider stripes in the same colour.

Any ideas?

I'm currently exploring different ideas for the trouser stripe - and this is the front runner, so far.

Pic 1 shows my "dummy run" which is painted larger than the model size on my margarine tub lid - which has a white background. I first painted the background trouser colour in dark blue - leaving a white stripe of unpainted colour down the middle.

After this had dried - added a red stripe down the centre. When this had dried - back to dark blue for a thin central stripe - and finally attempted a thin red stripe down the centre of this - which predictably spread to the rest of the red.

BUT - it does show the "idea" of a central red stripe up against the rest of the red.

Pic 2 - shows how this shows up in the real ( and much smaller) figure of a Trumpeter - which is still under construction.

I'm beginning to feel a bit happier with this feature now. jb

JB, you may be better off sticking with the impression and just paint a double stripe and leave the piping (light) out altogether?

Well Martin, that's what I began with - but have been getting increasingly unsatisfied with just the plain thick red stripe. I wanted to at least suggest the look of a central stripe - so will just play about with my experiments for now - and see how the whole thing looks when completed. Snag is - at this 54mm scale - it's tricky to do a stripe that thin, (well, for me it is). Besides, I do mine in Glossy Toy Soldier style.

That's the beauty of painting though - you can try things out like this. jb

My method is to engrave the lines into the figure in the first place, so there are lines to follow. I think you're a bit late for that!:)

Never thought of doing that! Good tip - I'll remember that one - next time.:D Ta! jb
