Zach's Collection (2 Viewers)

Thanks for posting Zach. They really are magnificent.

What he said!^&grin Seriously, if it wasn't for the price I would definitely buy that Patton Tank and the related figures, they are really spectacular!^&cool^&cool^&cool^&cool^&cool

Eclectic man! Any thoughts about having it painted in IDF colors?

I have toyed with having a K&C Sherman done - but haven't yet...we shall see {sm4}

The early K&C DD series "Easy-8" Sherman was actually not an Easy-8, but was instead based on a model of a "Super-Sherman" used by the IDF. That would be a perfect model to repaint.

that's right...he collects First Legion even if they don't have a flag! I had no intention of purchasing this at all. I don't have any tanks, nor do I collect Vietnam, but when i saw this in Chicago I had to have it. Proof that seeing things in person is very important sometimes. I know people use Honor Bound and maybe Figarti as the AFV benchmark, but holy cow - if you haven't seen this in person, you're missing out! The detail in amazing and the weathering looks completely real! I am so pleased with this (if you can't tell)!

The first pictures are US 25th Infantry Division Sitting Reading Magazine from First Legion #VN023
Just like the tank, the detail here is stunning as well. It'd be odd to see a figure like this made by a Russian studio, but if I had never seen it before and you told me it was a Russian piece, I'd have no reason to doubt it. First Legion knocked it out of the park here!

This guy looks like a REMF or FNG.No sling on the 16.One canteen??
No combat knife/bayonet.
No butt pack.
BDUs immaculate as are his JBoots.(extra Dogtags in boots?)
Arms/face aren't scratched,puss filled.
This guy looks like clerk-typist material to me.
Marines were ordered to wear flak-jackets,Army..whatever.

LOL. Good one. Take notes from the vet, FL.

In my expanding love of the FL Vietnam series - here is the latest addition. They are

horrible photo of an amazing piece! I grabbed this in Chicago
It is The Carthaginian War Elephant from Arsenyev/AeroArt PB50

As long as I had the camera out tonight, I decided to try to take some better pictures of Dumbo, The Carthaginian War Elephant!!!!
This elephant came to me in a small glass cube, so it's not easy to get great pictures through the glass ( and I didn't want to take it out). Anyway, here ya go! The textures on the howdah and the painting on the "blanket" is unreal. I am very pleased with this purchase. I have a few AeroArt elephants and this is probably my second favorite.

I've added a new figure to the golfer collection. This one is Toymaster Golfer made by Wm. Britains #40387. I am not entirely sure what Toymaster is, but someone here can probably enlighten all of us.

These are the two K&C "ladies of the night". They are Whitechappel Mary and Smithfield Sally. I think they are great fun figures to hide in the "dark corners" of my Dickens/England diorama!

Next up is the 1914 UK Horsedrawn Ambulance Set from Metal Shed. I have always been a huge Metal Shed fan but never pulled the trigger on one. When everyone saw me in Chicago, they kept asking what I had purchased and I kept saying nothing much...my reputation was at stake, so off to the Metal Shed room and I went and finally got one. I was so torn between this and the tractor - thankfully when i went back, Louis had purchased the tractor and the fate made my decision for me! I think both Louis and I are very happy with our purchases!

Finally for this evening we have the new 1948 Israeli Army figure from Ready for Action. I LOVE all IDF figures and these have a special place in my heart as representing the start of the IDF. The first picture is a few sets all together, followed by IDF Jeep w/Three Soldiers "Sampson Foxes" - 1948 Version #2, and finally Palmach at Prayer. I am adding some more Israelis and a few Arab Legion figures as well as a diorama base. Once in possession, I'll be sure to add more pictures.

Your collecting habits always amaze me.

Btw: next weekend, Jim Hillestad is opening his collection for visitors. Like you, he dedicated his home to toy soldiers. But while you live in a tent in the garden (people tell me), Jim lives in a shed next to his Toy Soldier Museum. If you fly in ((Philly Airport), I will pick you up. :).

The collection is in the Poconos and open on Saturday.
