Zach's Collection (2 Viewers)

Some new Russian goodies have been added to the collection - in other words, I am still feeding my lil addiction!!! {sm4}
These are the following:
Troika Diorama Sineus Studio
Bolli Bollason Varangian Chieftain AeroArt/St.Petersburg Collection 6395
Jean d'Albret King of Navarre Holding Lance AeroArt/St.Petersburg Collection 6391.2
Ivarr the Boneless AeroArt/St.Petersburg Collection 6378
Persian Emperor Xerxes AeroArt/St.Petersburg Collection 6389
William Wallace Protector of Scotland AeroArt/St.Petersburg Collection 6396
Count of Palantine and Bavaria w/ Sword AeroArt/St.Petersburg Collection 3574.4
U.S. General w/Dog AeroArt/St.Petersburg Collection XX301

I love this depiction of William Wallace. I am not sure the shield would be historically accurate, but finally we have a figure without that historically INaccurate blue face! Possible my favorite of the grouping is the figure of Xerxes. I just love the robes. Obviously the U.S. General is Patton, but unlike other companies, Aeroart decided to play it safe with the naming, I guess!

Great figures Zach, it always amazes me how they get the weave of the fabrics on there garments to show so well. I also noticed the Count having his sword chained to his shield?? is that like one of those biker things where they chain there wallets to there pants?? :p
Ray

That's how you know he's a bad ***!

It's funny - the chain is what made me buy this to some extent. In person, it's very cool

It does look cool, no doubt, but I still think he must live in a bad neighborhood

I think his mom put it on there, kinda like mine did with those mitten clips! {sm4}

Perhaps he's just forgetful? I had an Auntie once, who had her specs on a chain like that - to stop her putting them down somewhere - and then forgetting where!

"Egad sirah,............. now where, or in whom, did I leave my sword?" :D :salute:::salute:: jb

This is called "Is it Serious" Scuplted by Nelya Vitvitska and Painted by Christos Panagiotopoulos

Like I think I said before Zach, your collection is quickly going from hobby to art, very nice!

I could save so much money if I could limit myself, but I still love the "toy soldiers" too. I split my time looking for new figures and looking for a sugar momma! {sm3}

Is It Serious is quite unusual and quite nice. Great gift for a Dr.

Some additions. These are

Imperial Roman Legionary Cooking - White Tunic First Legion ROM169b
Imperial Roman Legionary Polishing Helmet - Red Tunic First Legion ROM165a
"Don’t Cry" Nurse with Child King & Country DD298
"Good Friends" Two Young Ladies King & Country FoB137
Three City Gents King & Country FoB136
"Little Julie" Indian Girl with Dog (w/ prototype) John Jenkins Designs RSF-32

I think the painting on the Three Gents is quite good. In person, the one in the tan suit is fantastic. K&C really stepped it up with him (trust me - the black lines etc stand out much more in the photo then real life and his tie is great). The Nurse with Child is one of sweetest figures I think they've ever done. I have no scale problems at all as I just buy what I like, but for those who do, the Three Gents and the Two Ladies seem quite big to me. I haven't compared them side by side with others, so I may be wrong, just going on feel.
And then we have the Romans - Truly - WOW...The Legionary Cooking is just spectacular - from the figure, to the ground work, to the cooking stuff. Just a wonderful figure! Placing these guys in the same set up with the imperial tent and heralds makes two dioramas in one. They look excellent!
And Julie - what can we say about Julie??? John just nailed the joy of a little girl and her dog - makes me smile every time I look at it! I loved the prototype so much, that I was afraid of the painting - but when I opened it, I was pleasantly surprised and highly recommend adding her to your collections!

Your collection is really outstanding. Always a pleasure to return to this thread.

The figure of the Doctor is based on the painting "DOCTOR AND THE DOLL", MARCH 9,1929 by Norman Rockwell. You could possibly add a postcard of it to the figure for background.

The chain that attaches the sword to the belt serves to not lose your sword in battle. From own exprience from various run-ins at work, I can confirm that the leather glove gets slippery in battle from sweat and blood (not to speak of rain) and your grip on the sword lessens during the battle because of exhaustion. You do not want to be caught empty handed. And the concept of "you can just pick another one up", does not work. First, there is never one lying around when you need one and secondly, you cannot see much with the helmet. Certainly not what lies under your feet.

Sort of like the guys redoing my roof who keep dropping hammers and losing them in the snow! 😀

I wholeheartedly agree with Andreas about Zach's collection. I have been fortunate to see Louis' and the late Lawrence Lo's collection and I would place Zach's in their category. He has one of the most varied collections I've ever seen.

Great civy figures, though I think the guy in the blue suit could use some Clark Kent glasses??? kinda bears a resemblance from the pic?

A while back we had a thread on here about our "holy grail" figure/set. In that thread, mine was Catherine the Great's Carriage. I had been looking for it for years and had no luck at all. Well....Call me Indiana Jones because the grail has been found! I apologize for the sheer number of photos, but I just love this thing and it's huge and want to show it all!!! ( I also apologize that some of the photos aren't the best, but I can't fit this thing in my light box to take proper photos)
