That, too, may be a "typo" on the part of the painter, because when I did a search to doublecheck, I found a citation of the legend and it was "de par le roi du ciel", not "depart".

Prost!
Brad

Correct. "De Par Le Roi Du Ciel" in French means in English: "On Behalf Of The King Of The Sky". This means that she was sent by God (to deliver France from the English). That said I found some documents stating that on the standard was written: JHESUS MARIA and or AVE MARIA. Difficult to know which was correct since the standard was lost...

That leads us to the question-does it make a difference? It's an inaccuracy, or even, a mistake. Does it matter? If it does, how does it matter? Is it like finding a mis-struck coin, or a mis-printed postage stamp? Is it like the old Britains Queen Elizabeths with mustaches?

Prost!
Brad

In my opinion, it doesn’t matter. Would have never noticed it but for its mention here.

Great piece.

I've always loved the look of Wm. Hocker figures still tied into their box. I don't keep them in the box for resale value, i merely like them but could never find space on the shelf to display them like that. So - i finally came up with a fix. I placed them all in shadow box frames and will be hanging them on the wall. I love the look of it and can't wait to hang them....

Great idea......I've done it with some flats I used to collect but will try this on full figures as well.

New commission arrived!

This is Sea Wolf from Cartoon Miniatures. I had this one painted by Alexander Kataurov. The wave base was also custom sculpted for me.

I also recently got a package in the mail containing some birdy handlers! I Love these Jenkins WWI pigeon figures

Pigeons, writers and Kings....OH MY!

Thomas Gunn - Philip II - King of France

John Jenkins - Dispatch Rider -RESS.. I love that John is using lenses rather than painting them. I'm sure it adds to the cost, but totally worth it. Just so much more realism when compared with painted lenses.

Really liking that Signal corp theme John is doing, pigeons everywhere. Some nice pickups here. Robin.

Alexander’s pricing is fairly reasonable for commissioned Russian stuff. If interested let me know and I’ll put you in touch.

These next few photos are Peipp Miniaturen figures that I had painted by Nevskaya Miniatura in Russia.
This one is "Tilly's Army on the March - Officer with Patter Horse" no.540822
Peipp figures are done in more a cartoon / caricature style when compared to others. The bases were made by Nevskaya as Peipp figures are cast with no bases.
I find them pretty charming. Tatiana is painting a few more for me and I'll post pictures once I get them

The talent and skill of the painter are amazing!^&cool^&cool^&cool^&cool^&cool I have never seen better work. What scale are the figures?

They are 54mm. They’re quite chunky though
I’d say a hefty 54!

I got this one a few months ago, but neglected to post the photos here.
This is Indian Chariot with Bulls from Russian Vityaz - PB520
As you can see from the close-up of the spearman, there is some damage to this one. I'll get it repaired someday, but the price was right and you don't see this one very often, so was willing to deal with it.
Again, while not realistic, I really love the bulls in this piece. They remind me of the bulls found in cave paintings

The most eclectic collection, at least on this Forum — and eclecticism is a good thing.

Did you take the photos of the Peipp set?
