That, too, may be a "typo" on the part of the painter, because when I did a search to doublecheck, I found a citation of the legend and it was "de par le roi du ciel", not "depart".

Correct. "De Par Le Roi Du Ciel" in French means in English: "On Behalf Of The King Of The Sky". This means that she was sent by God (to deliver France from the English). That said I found some documents stating that on the standard was written: JHESUS MARIA and or AVE MARIA. Difficult to know which was correct since the standard was lost...
