Manning looked awful. Granted he won't play too many other teams with Ohio St's D talent and crowd noise but his passes were all over the place. Sark clearly had no confidence in him. I was surprised at the lack of playmakers on Texas' offense. No one stood out. They will still crush most opponents but not a championship caliber team.
I said before they have Wingo who manning missed too many times and running backs. It was only first game but should be interesting to see what develops. Did not live up to hype.

Arch definitely did not live up to the hype.
Interestingly Texas fans packed their home stadium to watch the game on a jumbotron.

On more positive note, FSU spanked Bama. I loved it. I always respected Saban, to me he is the epitome of a great coach. This JA they brought in really irks me and should not be coaching Bama. He is not Bama quality. If they are smart, they beg Nick to "unretire".

But , great for Norvel and FSU. They have seemingly made the most of out of the xfer portal and hopefully it makes them a competitive team. Last year they were sure not fun to watch.

The only good news for Texas is they 3 weeks of SJSU, UTEP and Sam Houston, then a week off. I am hopeful Arch tunes up his game and figures out "his" rhythm. Run game looked good at times, need to use that, play action, etc. to buy time and get comfortable in the pocket. He also needs to get on the same page as Wingo. That guy is all world speed.

I'm sure the boosters were begging last year but Saban had enough of player demands.
BTW, $6.8M got Texas 38 yds passing thru the first 3 qtrs

Florida St. looked as good as anyone today. Certainly better than Texas. That was win not a fluke. They matched up with Bama and spanked them.

Sooners win; CHECK.
Wolverines win; CHECK.
Clemson loses; CHECK.
Texas and Arch Manning lose; TRIPLE CHECK.

What a great day for me.

Texas should have lined up some tomato can vs playing a real team out of the gate.

Gee, what a shame.

Ranking teams before a single game is played is archaic.

They say it is based on recruiting class rank etc.

That is like saying the dinner I am going to make tonight is already delicious because I bought the right ingredients.

Favorite moment yesterday was listening the commentator say for about the tenth time that Sark was an offensive mastermind just before he calls a run up the middle on 4th and short that got stuffed. All the while his team has zero points. Sark's white jump suit and orange vest are a thing to behold with his round Charlie Brown head. He looks like a cross between the Unabomber and the Village People.

Say all you want now, I sure am looking forward to the Red River Shootout........................................since you went there, one week doesn't make a team. Texas has a defense, they need to figure out the offense and right now Manning didn't look good, maybe he never will, but after the initial disappointment, interested to see what happens.

As to the Seminoles, Doug, I hope you are right is all I can say, I am a little cynical after the debacle of last year.

almost wonder if Sark should do what Norvel did. Bring in a true O coordinator, no matter how good at offense you have been, I find it hard to wonder how to be a head coach and figure the offense out too. I don't know how you do it. Norvel at FSU learned that the hard way last year when all of a sudden his defense was bad and he couldn't spend all his time on offense.

The red river shootout will be a massacre, Texas is head and shoulders better than the Sooners, I'm willing to call it like I see it, they have no shot of winning that game, they are ranked 18th, not 1st.

The sun does not rise and set for me regarding college football outcomes, nor pro outcomes for that matter, the older I get, the less sports mean to me, it's mindless entertainment, especially considering I did not attend OU, nor did I attend Michigan, my two favorite programs.

Life takes on a new meaning when both of your parents are gone; will your life be any better if Texas wins the national championship? Maybe for 5 minutes afterward, then the shine wears off the apple.

I just find it fun to follow! And to raz you!!!! Agree end of day it doesn't mean much but it is either infuriating or interesting or fun. Provides endless analysis!
