Things that annoy me (7 Viewers)

you're a brute...lol...good story...but sad racial profiling exists and is supported by some...
I can laugh about it now, but going through it felt awful; I did not "swerve and almost hit their cruiser" I was not mouthing off or acting in a threatening manor, these troopers could have gave a crap less, it was almost like they were determined to find a reason to lock me up.

Thankfully they dialed things back and basically let me go home and no formal charges were filed against me.

And OH BOY was my Pops pissed.

And not at me.

again...sad story....but I'm sure it's true that some officers do promote racial profiling...

and as far as an ICE funding agreement is settled...it's an issue that a lot of people want changed...

they found you guilty before you got out the car...

My Dad never liked the fact that I hit the gym so hard, said I completely overdid it and I had a bullseye on me as a result, he used to famously say "Every 5 foot nothing wannabe wants to take down a guy like you so he can brag to his friends" and "Someday you're going to run into the wrong guy"...........funny; all these years later, someday hasn't come.

First, I don't condone racial profiling. Second, it is interesting on the historical success of those programs.

Here is a story - Maryland State Police used to patrol the I-95 corridor between Baltimore north to the State Line with great success rates (Many stories at the time). They would pull over any car that had certain traits as drug interdiction stops. The interesting thing is, it was effective. I don't remember the stats and this is going off memory of news reports - 76% of the stops made led to arrests for drug trafficking. Furthermore, I believe at the time, the conviction/plea rate was near 80%. They stopped the program due to complaints it was racial profiling. I believe that the police had worked up a profile based on the historic drug trade issue in Baltimore during this era - late 70s to late 90s. If you look at that time in Baltimore, 99% of the drug trade was in the hands of one minority group. Therefore, the profile was heavily weighted.

Yeah, me too, plus there are so many fruitloops out there who are into MMA and would choke me out and that would be that, long gone are the days where it was a classic throwdown, these guys are certifiable, no thanks.

Great story...

I'm glad you posted this...this is a perfect example of racial profiling...

racial profiling is widely considered a form of racism and discrimination...as it involves law enforcement or other authorities using race, ethnicity, or national origin...rather than individual behavior...to suspect someone of a crime...it disproportionately targets minority groups like African Americans, Latinos and Muslims...leading to systemic inequality...

when I mentioned on here the other day...that racial profiling was on the Democrats "no-no" list for an ICE agreement on funding...

a Frogger responded on my post...”No racial profiling? You have got to be kidding?”

as he apparently seems to think racial profiling is okay...or doesn't understand the concept...

George's story tells how seriously wrong and racially motivated racial profiling is...

even George's father (an ex-policeman) after hearing the story...telling George...

"A big, massive Italian looking kid driving a Mercedes, welcome to racial profiling in reverse."

George was arrested and detained just cause George looked a certain way...

that Frogger that supports racial profiling...feels ICE has just cause to stop and detain you because of the way you look...

I cannot subscribe to law enforcement using racial profiling...it's wrong...
Mike you just don't seem to understand what I'm saying. I give up trying to explain this to you. As the old saying goes "walk in my shoes" . One more time plain and simple. If you nare in an area where blacks are committing the vast majority of crimes you stop blacks. Sounds pretty basic to me. And one more point. You know what really stops crime? Not these funded community programs etc. but pro active policing. Pro active policing is stopping individuals who look suspicious or match a descriptions of wanted subjects. Some people and I bet you are one, may frown on this but this is what prevents crime. They did a great job doing in this in New York city a few years back but that ultra liberal mayor diblasio put a stop to it and crime went out the roof.

Mike let me ask you this one question and I want you to answer it truthfully and I will put this subject to bed.
Your downtown one night kinda on a not so lit side street at 11:30PM and as you are walking you look ahead and there are 3 black kids in their late teens with the sagging pants, ball caps turned sideways do you become apprehensive? Now same scenario but this time when you look up there are 3 white kids in there late teens wearing khakis and polo shirts. Do you feel the same way as you felt when you seen the black kids? I think I know the answer. So why is that not racial profiling on your part? Here is another example of what I'm trying to get across. I was a young policeman, 8 months out of the academy. I was riding an area that at the time was 25% white, 75% black. I am sitting in my car waiting for the red light to change when I noticed to my left a car pull beside me but laid back. I turned and there were 2 black males in the car both looked very young. So when the light changed I let them drive past me and when they did I checked the "hot sheet" this had listing of license plates of stolen and wanted cars. This car was on the sheet. I turned on the red light and attempted to pull it over however it took off. I got on the radio and put out that I was in pursuit of a stolen vehicle. I chased it for several blocks when it finally crashed into an oncoming police car on the way to assist me. Turns out they were both juveniles 14 & 15. Now my question is should I not have done anything because they were black and by doing what I did might be considered racial profiling?

I am just annoyed at Congress. Holding up governmental agencies pay for political purposes is ridiculous. Any question if this is impacting safety which is why TSA was there in the first place? This fight is annoying, they have it seemingly every 6 months. You would think essential services would be exempt. Just plain stupidity for political theater on television. If they spent as much time ironing out legislation as they do plotting their network news interviews, we would be better off.

The amazing thing is that although Congress has almost zero approval rating, the incumbents get re-elected over and over again. They have some advantages like getting the party nomination in the first place and access to donations but even so you might think there comes a point at which their constituents say enough is enough. That is the only hope for the Republicans in the upcoming midterms. That most voters stick with the status quo. Otherwise it's going to be an absolute massacre. Not because the Democrats are going to win by proposing anything productive but because the Republicans are going to lose. Maybe the best thing for Republicans in 2028 is to lose the mid-terms and the Dems can be blamed for what happens between now and then which will no doubt include impeachments etc.

Your whole post smacks of racial profiling and racist stereotyping to me…

the white guys dressed in khakis and polo shirts...you might as well of added a fraternity pin on their chest...or a halo over their heads...

the black guys dressed in sagging pants and baseball caps turned sideways...surprised you didn’t put them in dark hoodies too…

maybe not you...but me…

any 3 guys I had to pass on a dark street..

Asian...Caucasian...Black or Hispanic…

would put me on alert...

and the 2 “suspicious” black kids in the car you ran a “hot sheet” on...do you only run those checks on black people or do you also run those checks on white people too?…

you said you would put this to bed if I responded...I’m tired of beating a dead horse...I’m not discussing this anymore with you…

good night...

I don't think profiling is necessarily an all or nothing tool if it includes factors beyond race. If someone is being targeted solely based on race, that should never be permissible. There are circumstances, however, where profiling in conjunction with other red flags makes sense. For example, if your job is to protect an airport from terrorism, it makes no sense to use a completely random security system that results in a 90-year-old grandmother getting additional scrutiny. That is even counterproductive because it removes resources that could be used to surveil higher risk individuals. In that circumstance, males of a certain age who have recently traveled to certain Middle Eastern countries should be given higher priority. I'm not saying every such person should be pulled for extra security but in conjunction with other factors it would be stupidity to completely ignore demographics that lend themselves to higher risk of certain acts. Granted it's a very thin line to maintain.

yes...great post...essential services should be exempt...these should not be up for debate between opposing parties...

It boggles my mind. We want our airports super secure since 9-11, yet these idiot politicians hold the very funding that is meant to deter, protect, secure our nation's travel as well as our airspace. And then, they go on television with a straight face and spew all kind of BS spin AND our idiot media covers it lock, stock and barrel. This is just the epitome of plain stupidity.

Sad thing is, I really and I mean I really think that half of our young people either have never heard of 9-11 nor have any context for what happen that day. People have very short memories, how disgusting is it to have people on US Streets wearing the garb and flags of "labeled and identified" Middle Eastern Terrorists organizations shouting Death to America and Death to American Servicemen. And, again, our Press covers it. What the heck ever happened to God Bless America?

"Päivi Räsänen a long-serving member of Parliament in Finland. She’s a conservative member of her nation’s Christian Democratic Party. On March 26, the Finnish Supreme Court determined that she is also a criminal."
FOund guilty of hate speech for criticizing *** pride events 20 yrs ago. Previously acquitted, the prosecutor appealed and got a conviction. Freedom of speech does not exist in Europe as cases such as this are widespread including being arrested for silent prayer.

A Christian woman was arrested for praying silently alone on a street. Hundreds of muslim's doing the same though not so quietly in Trafalgar Square, nothing, another example of two tier policing

A friend from college was a bouncer at a bar in So Cal during summer breaks away from school.

We called him the Bulldozer. We saw him as indestructible.

He used to regale us with stories about beating down unruly drunks who got tossed out of “his bar” as he described it.

Years later he was so proud when his muscled out son get a gig as the bouncer at that same bar in his home town.

Weeks into the job his son threw a guy out. The guy who got tossed mouthed off about coming back, tough guy talk.

The ejected patron came back with a gun.

His son took 4 direct shots out of 5 at close range. He survived but has a severe limp and no use of his left arm.

As he tells it 20+ years later, instant bullets 1, years of working out 0.

Awful; just awful, over nothing, I hope that guy is in a 6 by 9 for the rest of his miserable life.

CNN was breathless to report that average gas prices today exceeded $4! I must have missed that reporting that when gas prices were $5 or more during Biden's disastrous administration. Meanwhile the TSA ticker disappeared. It's not news unless it "dirty laundry."

We can do the Innuendo
We can dance and sing
When it's said and done
We haven't told you a thing
We all know that Crap is King
Give us dirty laundry

Yesterday on TV there was an add for some organization asking for donations to help families of servicemen injured during various conflicts. The money was to be used to pay travel, etc expenses for the servicemens families to be with them at the various government hospitals while they recover from their wounds. Why doesn't the government pay for that instead of feeding, housing providing medical care for these illegals. Something just isn't right!
