Arnhem 44 Sets Just Arrived! (1 Viewer)

Here's the thing:

I have considered sending the sets back, but would I have to send them all back?:(

As 3 out of the 5 sets were in pretty good nic!:)

Just AN013 - The Defenders!:(

And AN016, but to be honest, I can live without a fire piece, and I could always glue the wheel, however AN013 was especially WRECKED!:(

Would I be able to do this, this seller also has a couple more very rare Arnhem 44 sets which I am after, and so I don't want to anger him!:(

Scott,

piece of unsolicited advice, I would avoid purchasing anything from this person again no matter how rare after which you just described. Further, I would demand a full refund including return shipping and try to forget this ever took place.

That is my take!

Alternatively, if you can agree on a price for the pieces in good condition and with all the figures and pieces, you might keep those and send the rest back for a partial refund. And as Tom said, deal with someone else in the future.

Terry

Scott,

Never deal with this person again. If he has any guts, he will come on here and apologize. If you want me to take the case, I'd be more than happy to do so gratis.

I wholeheartedly agree. This is crap and not the right way to do things.

Words to the wise out of this for all of this:

1. Know who you are dealing with, ask for references, chances are guys on the forum know the good ones and bad ones.

2. I personally always demand pictures, that ends a lot of misery before it starts.

3. Always inquire as to full condition and completeness, I learned to never assume (see that word assume and separate the letters!)

4. Even after the above, understand that accidents could happen in the mail, BUT none in the amount that Scott has suffered!

Scott,

Listen mate, not trying to give you a lecture here, but this is totally unacceptable in my opinion.

Sounds like you were taken advantage of; for that kind of money, NOTHING should be missing, chipped or damaged.

If they were packed properly, no damage should have occured, unless the damage was THERE TO BEGIN WITH AND YOU WERE NOT TOLD.

If it were I, I'd contact Paypal right away and file a dispute, tell them you want your money back.

Don't worry about how rare these items are, I know you are a huge fan of Arnhem, but they will turn up again.

And as far as your last comment; YOU don't want to anger HIM? Mate, YOU should be the one HE is worried about angering, not the other way around.

And please don't tell us you are seriously considering buying more bits from this "seller?!"

Stay clear of this person; he should do the right thing, take the items back, pay for you to ship them back and give you a COMPLETE AND TOTAL REFUND.

DO NOT buy another thing from this person; fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me as the saying goes.

Couldn't have said it better myself. There's no excuse for the damage that you've described. He should be worried about YOUR ANGER for the amount of money you've spent. Also in light of the fact that your GRANDMOTHER helped fund your collecting. That's all the more reason to get your money back. I'm sure years from now you'd like to look back at a set of figures and know that your Grandmother was proud of helping you make that purchase happen. There should be NO QUESTIONS ASKED on his part. GET YOUR MONEY BACK.
:mad:Sounds like this guy needs a Bronx party hat.
Good luck. Let us know how you make out.

Scott when entering a business transaction details such as condition are as

important as price is. You should always request pictures unless you are doing

business with someone you know and trust.

As for the comments reguarding price paid, it is actually quite reasonable for

the sets you received. Which in nice condition could easily exceed twice what

you paid.:)

However a bargin isn't a bargin if it arrives damaged.

And that is why I suggest keeping the ones you want and sending back the damaged ones for for a partial refund. If they were in the original boxes? Although it seems I am in a minority of 1 in this. :)

On the contrary Terry I would agree 100%. I would take photos of the sets

that arrived damaged and either work out a price adjustment or a return of

those sets. Since Scott is a big Arnhem collector as am I, it might be easier

to work out a fair price adjustment and use the damaged figures (pieces) as

wounded figures, damaged gun emplacements. I'm sure something fair

could be worked out......I would also bare in mind the "reasonable" price paid

for the lot.:)

Cheers everybody, I am now thinking of sending the damaged figure set - AN013 back, but keeping the Daimler armoured car, as this particular set is a favourite of mine, also one of the figures has an interesting patch painted onto his jacket, which the other set that I have (the complete set), does not have!:)

Also I am going to keep AN012- Street Fighting, this set was in mint condition, AN014C - Lt Brian Horocks with Map, pretty good condition as far as I could see, little sheet on back of boars had a small line of paint chippedoff on it, and in one corner also!

And AN015 Bren Gun carrier - this set was in absolute Mint condition!:)

The only bad thing is that the figure lying down from AN013 - The Defendersis in absolute Mint Condition, and so is the little rifle that goes with it!

I may never get another Mint figure for this set like this!:(

I may just send it down to Simon, and see what he can do!:)

Thanks everyone so much for your help but!:D

I say again - lodge a Paypal claim - then sort out the details with him.

I agree with this.

Scott, if there are certain things that are in mint condition, fine. However, if there are certain things that are not, then you should get a refund on that.

Brad:

You certainly know prices as well as I do, so when you consider the items Scott is saying were received in Mint condition......how could anyone be really upset and looking for a refund?

If you give someone a $20 bill for a copy of Toy Soldier....and receive a $50 bill in your change........do you complain because its wrinkled?:D

I think Scott certainly got a nice deal, and if he can get an adjustment for the damaged pieces, or a refund for the damaged set........it would appear to be a very nice deal.

I don't think we should be taken in by the $1000 price tag, while it is a lot of money lets not forget the AN16 has gone over $700 at least twice, and the
AN15 has gone over $600 twice.......we still have 2 additional sets + Gen H
& Map which itself has brought over $200.:)

Just my thoughts

Ha! I must admit I am a "Money Nut"! I carry a half dozen $2 bills (from my childhood days) and I usually go to the bank and get a dozen nice $50 bills for carrying around money. My bank knows me so I really don't have to explain anymore.:D I just like new, clean bills on a clip.

The family enjoys it because each time I break a $50 I almost always get trashy "Gas Station" money back which I promptly give to the wife or daughter.......so they have a nice laugh!

I don't know exactly how I started this habit.......but its here to stay now!:D

Does the US have $2 bills? I thought they were bad luck.

Heck no! When I was a child our family doctor Dr Lance charged $6 for a

house call, he loved $2 bills, so my mother always made a point to give him

3 $2's whenever he came to call. He was a wonderful grandfather type who

took care of me till I went off to college. Those were the days! $6 house

calls, yet he still was one of the richest men in town with a beautiful home

and a Rolls Royce (he was also head of surgery at our hospital).

I have always carried them, and when they were reissued a few years ago I

renewed my interest. You can get them by simply asking your bank to get you

some if they don't have any on hand!

Unlucky.......not by a long shot!:D
