After many months of waiting it has arrived, my reward for quitting smoking back in February. I am very pleased with it and myself. It has a really good weight to it (definite quality) although a very hefty price tag and I hope WB may consider doing the elephants in resin in the future. It would make them more affordable to us without buckets of cash.

So without further ado and straight from Jaipur I give you the Jaipur elephant standard bearer.

Congrats on quitting. I did it 2 1/2 years ago after 40 yrs. Sure gives you more money for toys

Congratulations on all counts! You have clearly earned the Jaipur Elephant as well as the other Durbar figures you ordered.

I am greatly pleased that you are happy with your new figures and I want to welcome you to the fraternity of Durbar collectors. As you are discovering, there is something highly satisfying about collecting Durbar figures. The event was spectacular and it will never be equalled again. The pagentry, the grandeur, and the festivities of the Durbar can easily assault one's senses. The nearly endless variety of uniforms, bands, dignitaries, spectators, animals, carriages, palenquins, etc. provide the collector with a fantastic and interesting supply of material with which to form impressive displays, and dioramas. The organizational skills required to produce, coordinate, and implement the 1903 Durbar are almost beyond one's imagination. Doubtless, you will spend hours enjoying the Durbar figures you acquire.

Once again, congratulations for acquiring some very special figures. Please keep us advised of the growth of your collection.

Thanks for your comments gentlemen. I am not sure but I think I was drooling when I opened the box. I am still waiting for the beggar, Lord Kitchener and the other 2 remaining releases. I am awaiting the arrival of the 2010 catalogue to see what is in store !!! Perhaps a carriage, some camels, a bullock gun? Lady Curzon in her peacock dress. Who knows, the wait is all part of the fun

My first Durbar figures arrived and I am very pleased with the look of them. The sculpting of the figures and especially the elephant is first rate.
Let me start with some pictures showing the Lady and the Beggar at a well, where people meet.
