Buscemi reminds me of a spooky Don Knotts for some reason. A great actor. I had mixed feeling about the first show - but it's always difficult to make an assessment after just one show. On the upside the gangster genre is one that's hard to resist. And I like the 20's look. On the downside, I found a lot of the dialogue to be the type of Hollywood speak used to convey to the viewers the context of the story. It sounded contrived and unreal. Hopefully that gets better as the show progresses.

This may be due to the fact that a large portion of the population today is woefully under-educated about our nation's history. There are high school grads today, for example, who have no idea of when WWII occurred or what it was about. Sad but true.

No doubt about it although I would expect the HBO crowd to be slightly better. That's why the History Channel now features shows on Bigfoot and Ghosts. "Idiocracy" is not a great movie, but the best satire on the current generation that I have seen (Mike Judge of Office Space and King of the Hill fame). Definitely worth a watch.

Buscemi did not make it on his good looks...

Enjoyed the second episode, especially when Buscemi tells Rothstein not to come back to Atlantic City. I smell trouble ahead. -- Al

I thought the second show was slow.A disappointment to me.I think we are going to get bogged down with Mrs.Schroeder.I see no need for that character. If it's to show Nucky's good points we all know that he loved his wife and probably started going down the wrong path after she died.

I like SB but not sure he has the presence to carry the show. Still it's better than 98% of the other shows on.

Even though I wasn't crazy about this episode I have high hopes for the next 10.Maybe because the first episode was so good my expections were too high.

Episode 3 was another interesting show, but it is moving slowly. The G-man is a rather ruthless individual. The trip to Chicago should prove interesting. Knucky sure is in the middle of a building s-storm. -- Al

Thought the third episode was slow as well. Until the dress shop dressing room scene. :D Kind of picked up at that point.

Episode 3 was not written by Terence Winter and I thought it showed ---the weakest episode thus far but still way above network drivel.

Will have to catch episode 4 on repeat. The Skins are playing the Colts. KIckoff, now! Adios. -- Al

Caught the late showing after all. Once again, this is an interesting show, with several characters being followed and several stories, BUT, it is slow. I feel like I am watching an hour long show to see 1 or 2 minutes of real interest (which I guess I actually am). I wish that they might pick up the pace some. -- Al

I have been watching and enjoying the show. Heck, seeing Gretchen Mol topless is worth the price of admission in and of itself. But I would like to see Al Capone and Jimmy take revenge on the Irish mobsters for the Girl's face and life.

Plus, I'm wondering when Nucky is going to knock off that crazy Fed. I know mobsters don't like killing cops or feds, but that guy is psychotic, torturing the guy who was dying, then taking a run at the entire Hybernian Order the night before St. Patrick's day. At some point, Nucky is going to have to have to give the order.

I agree, love the show, but the pace is more slow than I prefer!

I actually got bored watching it last night, as stated a lot of slow moments. Glad that gal killed herself, she was a big part of my boredom.

I'm still watching, but hitting the FF button more and more. One of the benefits of On Demand. The show does drag and I'm not sure if it wants to be a gangster show or some hybrid. As great as SB is, I don't think he can carry the show. He's a better character actor with a secondary role. I do like the guy playing Capone. At first, that seemed like a tired and unnecessary sideshow, but he does a good job. Reminds me a bit of Danny DeVito for some reason.

Anyone watch "Eastbound and Down"? One of the most offensive, vile and funny shows on HBO. It comes on after BE. Not for everyone, but I could watch those episodes over and over. Kenny Powers reminds me of a down and out Roger Clemens. :D

Have caught several episodes of Kenny Powers and gang. It is unbelieveable! I can't stop laughing although I don't know if it is because of the language, the situations, or Powers himself. I think it is the most outrageous show I have seen.:D:eek::p -- Al
