I'll still take him as Indiana Jones first.

Actually Chris there are seven but only 5 are generally regarded as offering much worth while seeing relative to the other 5.you know there's a sixth right![]()
What is the difference between 1st Director's cut @116 minutes and the restored Final Cut @ 117 minutes? I keep meaning to get the multi-version set but haven't yet. -- AlActually Chris there are seven but only 5 are generally regarded as offering much worth while seeing relative to the other 5.The San Diego "sneak preview version was shown only once in May 1982, and is almost identical to the Domestic Cut with three extra scenes. The U.S. Broadcast (television) version (1986, 114 minutes) is the U.S. theatrical version edited for violence, propanity and nudity. While non memorable, I have seen that one. The other five are all worth seeing for various reasons but I think I really like the new and restored Final Cut (2007, 117 minutes), the best now. The other four are the Domestic Cut original U.S. "happy ending" release (1982, 116 minutes), the International Versions with some additional scenes and uncut violence, the first Director's Cut (1992, 116 minutes) dropping Deckard's narration and adding the unicorn scene and the original workprint version (113 minutes) with many differences. I don't think very many people have seen the San Diego version.
There are quite a few differences between the two. First there is a dramatic physical improvement of the picture and sound. A new digital print of the film was created from the original negatives, while the special effects were updated and polished. Special effects footage was scanned in at 8,000 lines per frame, which is four times the resolution used in most restorations. The city skyline shots in the restored version are most stunning. The sound track was completely remastered for The Final Cut in 5.1 Dolby Digital surround sound and resynched to the scenes and action. It sounds great. What is the difference between 1st Director's cut @116 minutes and the restored Final Cut @ 117 minutes? I keep meaning to get the multi-version set but haven't yet. -- Al

The Final Cut also has several new and extended scenes. The famous unicorn dream scene is extended from the Director's Cut. There is extra footage of the bleak Los Angelas street scenes, including an extra shot of a crowded city street, a brief sequence of two exotic dancers wearing hockey masks, and a shot of Deckard meeting a policeman before he enters the Snake Pit. The scene with Zhora crashing through a display case after being pursued by Deckard was reshot and extended with the original actress, Joanna Cassidy, performing the stunt herself, replacing original footage of an obvious stunt double. Roy Batty’s death scene, finally is features a dove is released into a night sky, with an appropriate bleak backdrop. Some scenes, such as Deckard's first meeting with Gaff in the noodle bar, have been trimmed. Various pieces of dialogue too have been inserted or altered. In an early scene, where Bryant and Deckard are looking over Nexus 6 profiles, Bryant now describes Leon’s job, and when he talks about replicants being caught in an electrical field, the dialogue has been changed from: "One of them got fried running though an electrical field" to "Two of them got fried running through an electrical field". This now accounts for the sixth replicant.
In the scene where Batty confronts Tyrell, the line, "I want more life, f***er" has been replaced with "I want more life, father”. In the same scene, after Batty has killed Tyrell, he now says to Sebastian, "I'm sorry Sebastian. Come. Come." Deckard’s conversation with a snake merchant has been rerecorded and reworked to make it in sync. Other additions include extra violence. All of the violent scenes in the International Cut that were deleted in the U.S. theatrical release have been reinserted.
Personnally I find most of the scene changes subtle and could have done without the additional graphic violence but the corrections in a couple of scenes and sound syncing and most of all the dramatic improvement in the picture and sound make it well worth the new investment to me.
No unfortunately it does not. There was obviously quite a bit of controversy about the narration; Ford in fact hated the idea. I could go either way but even without it the Final Cut is well worth getting for the other changes.Does the final cut have Deckard's narration? I wasn't crazy about the director's cut which removed the narration. If the narration is included in the final cut, I will have to snag a copy, as those additions and changes sound really fascinating. In the book, there is an entire subplot with a replicant police station/blade runners. I wonder why that never made it into the movie?

That said, I guess they have yet to make my favorite cut which would be the Final Cut, with the violence restored to the original Theatrical Cut and the original happy ending (I am a sucker for those). All the other changes in the Final Cut really appeal to me. The fixing of a fair number of little technical gaffs, like the eye in the opening scene and the visible wires on Gaff's spinner are significant. Of the others, the Working Print, while rough, is interesting to see since it was the genesis for all the other changes. The International Version has become largely irrelevent with the Final Cut.
Perhaps but we pilots have to stick together.I guess I'll have to get the final cut just to see the changes, but I always loved the narration. What Harrison Ford likes or doesn't like is meaningless as far as I'm concerned. He's a good actor, but not the sharpest knife in the drawer, as is evidenced by the fact that he hated playing Han Solo and did that last Indiana Jones movie, which was apallingly bad.
The Bumble Bowl is over and the Skins win because DeAngelo Hall intercepts 4 passes in the 2nd half. Seems he was the only one on the field who wanted to win. A win ugly (and, boy, it was ugly) is still a win. Skins are now 4-3 which equals last years total of wins. Next up, Detroit. -- AlIt's game day and the Skins play da Bears at 1, EST. Should be a good one between these old rivals. Gonna be close, too. Go Skins! -- Al
LOL. Peter, it was our pleasure. The Skins seem to be doomed to playing UGLY football. It even rubs off on our foes.Al, I just watched that game, and I think my eyeballs hurt! What a painful display. The Skins hung in there and did what they had to do. Many thanks to you for knocking off the Bears and giving the Vikes a chance.
Well you remember what I said about winning ugly; the great Redskin teams often did that. The Bumble Bowl is over and the Skins win because DeAngelo Hall intercepts 4 passes in the 2nd half. Ugly?? you talk about ugly?? try giving up 500 yds of offense to a 0-5 team (Bills) and barely I mean Barely surviving for a win, I'll take the win going into our bye next week but if my Ravens do not tighten some screws on defense there will be more games like this (hope not, my heart can't take many more) but 5-2 not bad at the bye, at least the offense is showing life...Sammy
Dallas continues their run at mediocrity- Can't wait for Phillips exit
