Nhl 2013 (3 Viewers)

Kings laying the wood to the Ducks in the battle of the two ugliest uniforms left in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, up 4 zip; the Ducks uniform looks like something you'd see in a Hollywood takeoff on pro sports, think North Dallas Forty or that crappy movie where Al Pacino was the coach and Cameron Diaz was the owner.

The key to winning the Cup this year is avoiding having to win game 7 at home, nobody seems able to do it this year.................

They really dialed it up that first couple of periods. And then they didn't go into the turtle but kept pouring it on. Sutter may be the best coach in hockey. They don't win every night, but in the big games they come to play. 6-0 in elimination games this playoff. I think at least 3 of so were on the road. Only one day of rest then on to Chicago. Interesting to see if they can play hard for the entire game against a rested Chicago team.

At this time in the playoffs I tend to focus on goalies. There are 4 really good ones left with Quick and Lundqvist being world class. Crawford and Quick have cups. While Price is no slouch.

This should be good.

Looking forward to Kings/Blackhawks today.

IMO, the key to this series is LA needs to get down 3 games to none so Quick can stand on his head for four games, enabling them to advance to the finals.

As long as they lose the first three games, they'll be in good shape.

Well, that was a bit of a shocker. Unfortunately, I missed most of the game as I was catching up on some sleep as I had something come up Friday night.

The question is were the Canadiens still thinking about the Boston series? Probably. If the Rangers can win game 2, they would be in great shape. Game 2 is the first key game in the series.

Most of the analysts thought the Rangers though similar in playing style to the Canadians, showed themselves to be the much faster team and could be a match up problem for Montreal..Michael

Someone needs to tell Montreal that beating Boston did not give them the cup, there are still two more rounds to go.

New York took away those stretch passes Montreal killed the Bruins with.

Keep doing that and they'll be in good shape.

And Raask is not a world class goalie.

Lundqvist is.

Good luck with that Montreal.

The Blackhawks give the Kings fits because they can usually score three or more goals. The Kings usually have to keep games to three or less goals to win. That's how they are built. I'm worried about the fatigue factor. What usually happens is that the team who hasn't played in a while comes out rusty, but the tired team runs out of gas toward the end of the game.

About as expected for game one. The Kings played them fairly even. One bad bounce was the difference. The NHL commentators squealed like Ned Beatty in Deliverance when they disallowed that one Chicago goal. They desperately don't want a west coast team to win.

Therrien announces today Price is done for the series after suffering a lower body injury in game one.

He's also pretty torked off about it, calling it a reckless play, although he said initially it was an accident.

Doesn't look to me like the player intentionally ran into him, more like he fell in the act of shooting as he was being chased by two defenders.

What a huge, gigantic, colossal break for the Rangers.

I guess that horseshoe the Giants used in 2008 and 2011 has been paid forward to the Rangers.

If they don't get to the Stanley Cup finals, it would be considered an epic choke job as Price is a very, very good goalie, has won not one but two gold medals for Team Canada in the Olympics, he's world class for sure.

What a lucky break/bad break...................

Just heard about it. Yes, it's a big break and at first they called it an accident, now the Canadiens (bless their little hearts) call it intentional. Well, tonight's game should be interesting. Guess they will be aiming for Lundquist.

In game 3 of the conference semifinals, the Bruins were down a goal and pulled the goalie and were pelting Price, so Subban knocked the net off it's moorings on purpose, getting a whistle and a stoppage in play.

That was intentional.

What happened in game one of the ECF was not, the player fell as he approached the net.

To call it anything else is moronic.

Tough break for Montreal. A real shame to get that far and lose your goalie. Talk about the waters parting for certain teams, though. If Chicago advances, I think they get home ice against either NY or Montreal. The Hawks are nearly unbeatable at home. And that would be the third series in a row where they have had home ice despite finishing only fifth in the west. Chicago would be a heavy favorite against the Rangers. Or they could get a Montreal team sans Price. I think LA gets home ice against NY, but not sure about Montreal since they finished with the same number of points. Regardless, it's not a bad position for a couple of teams who finished in the bottom half of the western playoff bracket.

Montreal is not going with their back up but the back up to the back up.

Wow, talk about rolling the dice.

The last time I recall something like that was when Washington started their back up to their back up, aka, Smoltzy vs the Bruins and we all know how that................................

Ok then, so maybe Montreal rallies around this stiff and they win their 25th Stanley Cup.

Watched the first two periods of last nights game with my son Alec before he had to go to bed. Lundquist stood on his head again, or the Rangers would have lost that game about 7-3. He made some epic saves, despite the fact that he should have sued his team mates for lack of support in the first ten minutes of the game, 9 minutes and 30 seconds of which were played in the Rangers defensive zone. In no other team sport can one player so completely change the outcome of a game like the goalie in hockey.

If Lundquist can find a way to beat Montreal and the western conference champs and put his name on the cup, he is going to be remembered as one of the great money goalies, particularly as he has won 7 straight game sevens, including two on the road.

Nothing against you Ranger fans, but if NY makes it to the finals, really, what,s the point of a regular season?
Blues will not keep Ryan Miller, that experiament fell flat on it,s face.

Well, they made it to the playoffs so I'm not sure what your point is. Now, if you want to quibble about half the teams making it to the playoffs (NHL, as well as NBA), that's a valid point but I don't think it will change anytime in the near or far future.

The Kings finished in the 8th and last playoff spot a couple years ago when they won the cup. They also had the lowest average goals per game of any team that season. So I'm not going to complain about the Rangers. Plus the Kings might be able to beat them if they get past Chicago! Of all the teams left, I'm pulling for anyone except the Hawks. They seem to have a large, arrogant fan base similar to the Pens.

Exactly! That is the system in place. I remember several years ago the Knicks were an 8th seed and made if to the finals.

Also, if you're going to complain, how about the Cardinals making it to the playoffs in 2006 with a terrible record but winning the World Series. They were not the best team in the regular season but who remembers that because they won it all.

I see both sides of this one.

The system is geared towards having the highest seeds play for the championship. That obviously doesn't always happen. If your favorite team gets knocked out by a lower seed you are probably going to complain about the system and vice versa.

I,m not complaining about the system, you have to have something, but in reality the best team doesn,t always win. And no I don,t have a better idea.
I will say this about the Hawks, when they play at home I never miss the singing of the national anthem. That is a real treat.
