Thanks Brad (Rangers), George (Bruins), and you Kings, Pens fans still talking hockery while I sit here waiting as usual for next year.
Although as a St Louis fan, even tho it,s the Rams, I was lucky enough to catch that tender kiss the Rams 7th round pick gave his boyfriend. What more could a sports fan ask for! As I told this story to George. When the football Cardinals were in St Louis before moving to Arizona, they were known for their bad draft picks. So one year they drafted a quarterback named Kelly Stoufer, someone said "My God they drafted a girl"

I've found a reason to hate every team left in the playoffs except for the Kings. Some might interpret this as bias. But keep in mind that Anaheim has a 50-year old guy for Finland. How could anyone pull for them? I don't even believe Anaheim is a real place. It's some type of ersatz team named after a Disney movie.

Adding insult to injury, the Kings are not only allowing a 40+ year old guy from Finland to score on them but now a couple of middling AHL players are leading the Ducks. Smith-Pelly and Gibson. Ugh. I think the Kings are out of miracles. They may force a game seven, but the end is probably near.

So after that riveting defeat of the Blue Jackets life gets a little easier with either the Rangers or those dirty Flyers.

Go Pens !!!!!

yep getting easier by the day , Fleury keeps this up and its over by the weekend:) but one thing I have learnt being a penguins fan is don't count your chickens until the fat lady has sung .

Got real, easy didn't it. Not! Shall I send you some humble pie to eat? Yeah, enjoy it and be careful what you wish for next. What's that sound I hear? Conference finals in the Big Apple! ^&cool^&cool

The Pens had Sharks disease. Got up big in a series, then their super-stars disappeared and the opposing goalie went back to being world class. Symptoms that can't be overcome and that was that.

I am a semi-Pens fan going ack to the Lemieux days, but I am pretty happy for Martin St. Louis. After going what he went through and performing the way he did, as a hockey fan I can't help but salute him.

:salute::

Amazing collapse by the Pens. They never looked quite right in the playoffs. I have to believe Crosby is injured. Fleury is a mess. He's probably gone. The Rangers went into the turtle when they went up 2-1 and put this game entirely on Lundqvist. And he saved their bacon with a great game. The Pens had plenty of chances.

Correct; get a one goal lead in an elimination game, go into a shell and have your goalie stand on his head; Jesus do I hate that style of hockey, so lame and boring.

We'll see what happens tonight with the Bruins, nothing would surprise me at this point.............

The Pens choked, plain and simple. They had that aura of worried about losing instead of just playing hockey, you are right, they didn't look right. Way too much talent on the ice for this result. Oh well, next year is another year, I hope this is not a recurring trend.

The Pens seemed well on their way after game 4 but the Rangers with the game 5 turned it around. Pierre McGuire has talked about three things: concern, doubt and fear, and after game 5 he saw concern and doubt and finally fear creeped in for Pittsburgh.

Yesterday, somebody (maybe on the radio) said that since they won the cup, they've lost to lower seeded teams in the playoffs, which obviously is not a good sign.

I'm not a big NHL fan, but my 8 year old son, who plays Hockey, is, so we watched game 7 between the Rangers and Penguins yesterday evening. I am no expert, but I played in high school, and had actually skated with several then NHL players in pick up games (Bob Bourne of the Islanders, Eddie Johnstone of the Rangers and Ron Dugay of the Rangers - its would taught me to study harder in high school, after 60 minutes on the ice with what I thought were washed up pros, I realized any thoughts of playing in the NHL were pipedreams). All I can say is the Penguins were far and away the better team at all but the most important position, Goalie. Lundquist stood on his head and singlehandedly won a game where the entre game was played in the Rangers zone, and they were outshot by a ridiculous margin. If the Rangers go anywhere (and I have no idea if they have a chance against the other semifinalist in the Eastern Conference [it was the Prince of Wales Conference when I was a kid], be it the Bruins or the Habs), its going to be all Lundquist and a couple of the defenders getting them there. The rest of that team is mediocre at best.

You nailed it Louis.

This is the one thing about hockey I do not like, a goalie stands on his head and can steal a series, I've seen it too many times as a Bruins fan; Dryden in 1971, Parent in 1974, Ranford in 1990, Smoltzy in 2012 off the top of my head, those three goalies stole those series as in each one, the Bruins were the better team but still lost.

Last night after two periods, the Rangers had 13 shots on net and two goals; THIRTEEN.

Good Lord, that is pathetic.

They don't belong on the same ice with either Montreal or Boston, but their goalie gives them more than a 50/50 chance of stealing the series.

As far as Pittsburgh; it's time to blow it up and start over. Dare I say it, but it might be time to send Crosby packing; ten goals in the last 43 regular season games, 1 goal in the playoffs, that's pathetic, he's a top 3 NHL player, he's got to give you more than that.........................and the coach is a goner for sure.................first the US Olympic team, now this disaster...................

What massive disappointment.

Up 3 games to 2, they were a no show in game six and got waxed 4-0, tonight they came out flat as a pancake, got down 2-0 and that was that.

They fought the puck all series long, had terrible puck luck as well, hit THIRTEEN posts/crossbars in 7 games, had a puck roll through the crease, had another one pop up in the air, land in the crease and backspin halfway across the goal line before a Canadien defenseman reached into the net and pushed it out. Also had a shot that was past Price in the double overtime loss hit a Bruin on the way into the net and bounce wide.

I give the Canadiens credit, their goalie was better, their mediocre defensemen were better, they took away the middle of the ice, packed it in down low and took away the shooting lanes, they had what, about 140 blocked shots.

They played defense like the Devils did when they won the cup, setting hockey back ten years in the process.

For as long as I can remember, the Canadiens are the Bruins kryptonite, something about their style of play with the diving and the chippy crap takes them out of their game; the only game they looked good was game 5, thought they finally hit their stride and would finish them, but again, they played like dog crap in games 6 and 7 and are now out, best team I've seen in 23 years.

What a shame and to think we have to play these guys now every year in the playoffs with the new format.

Sorry boys, I'm done with hockey this year; it's a great game and playoff hockey is something special, but I'm done.

Best of luck Brad and Doug the rest of the way, hoping for your sakes it's a Rangers/Kings final.................

The Blackhawks must be a very happy team. The waters seem to be parting for them. They get a slumping Blues team in the first round. And then home ice against a middling Wild team in the second. The Duck and Kings are going seven while they rest several more days. If the Kings win, then Chicago has home ice again in the next round where they are practically unbeatable. Not bad for a team that didn't finish in the top four in the west. And the Bruins and Pens are gone if they get to the finals.

Very true; to win a cup, you need some luck along the way, talent will take you far, luck gets you the rest of the way.

IMO, they are the best team in hockey, period.

Like Gary said, they know how to win, they have superstars who rise to the occasion, they don't soil themselves as the spotlight gets bigger, they thrive on it.

If they make it to the finals vs Montreal, you know who I'll be pulling for; if it's New York, I'd root for the Rangers and the whole Cinderella story angle.

Same deal if it's the Kings who get that far.....................

Little consultation if your team is not in it, but it is pretty cool that 3 of the 4 final teams are part of the original six.

No matter what East team goes to the finals I don,t see how they can beat any of the West teams that are still in the running. I thought only Boston would stand a chance.
I really don,t know who I want to win the West. I think Chicago, but on Anaheim, one of their forwards Pat Maroon went to the same high school in St Louis that my two sons attended, although many years apart.
There are about 5 players in the NHL that are from the St Louis area, shows that we have a pretty good hockey program here.

The NHL has actually scheduled the Kings-Ducks game tonight at a reasonable time. If they are not careful, people on the east coast might actually become aware that they have teams out west. The Kings are 4-0 in elimination games this year including 2-0 on the road. But they haven't got much production out of their scorers. It's a miracle they are still in this series with only one goal between Carter, Kopitar, Williams, Stoll, Brown. Gaborik and a cast of role players have done the scoring. The Kings excel in close, low scoring games. Two or three goals is usually enough to get it done for them. The Ducks are also starting a rookie in goal. He has played well, but there is a ton of pressure on the #1 team in an elimination game. You could see it in Pittsburgh and Boston. Those guys were tigher than drums and the home environment can become oppressive when it starts to slip away. This one could go either way. The Kings will power to stay alive against the Ducks talent.

Couldn't agree more, both the Bruin and Penguin games were mirror images of one another; visiting team scored first and the energy got sucked out of both buildings, I cannot recall the Garden being so quiet for a playoff game, the Bruins played so tight, it was incredible to see.

Still can't believe they lost.

To Montreal.

Unreal.

Kings laying the wood to the Ducks in the battle of the two ugliest uniforms left in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, up 4 zip; the Ducks uniform looks like something you'd see in a Hollywood takeoff on pro sports, think North Dallas Forty or that crappy movie where Al Pacino was the coach and Cameron Diaz was the owner.

The key to winning the Cup this year is avoiding having to win game 7 at home, nobody seems able to do it this year.................
