  • Hi Marcus,
I replied to this message yesterday but it seems the system lost it. To repeat, as I have noted in several threads here, I think the First Legion and K&C NAPs work just fine together. There are some differencies but I do not find them material to a mixed display. The K&C figures are slightly bulkier and their hands and arms are a bit too out of scale but you have that problem regardless of whether you mix them. The heights are essentially the same with K&C around 60 mm and 1st Legion at 58-59 mm. There are a number of threads here with a dicussion and photo comparison on this including

There are quite a few others but hopefully this will give you enough guidance. Let me know if you need more however since I have considered this at some length.

    Hi Marcus,
Good to hear you have some new acquistions and those sound nice. I have added a few more of the First Legion line infantry to fill in gaps from the first release and a several score of the Conte plastic spartans in all three colors. They are extremely well done and should look fantastic painted. Sadly, that skill eludes me but I have some that KV was painting before his unfortunate health issues. On the metal side, I did pick up some of the EoI Romans. They are nicely done but the poses are not as interesting as those for Conte or First Legion and they are so small relative to other companies figures. I would call them 50-52mm. Mostly I am waiting for First Legion British and cavalry releases and Conte Zulu figures at the moment.

I am afraid London looks unlikely this year. We have too many competing travel projects this year. Cheers Bill
Hello Marcus, I checked my files. I got this set at 190 EUR including postage. That was quite a bargain and I'm not sure you can find such one soon (even the set itself seems to be quite scarce)!
    Kind regards, Michel
thank you for your kind words about my collection & your quick response to my question! I think im going to have to get someone to make me some display cases for my collection!!!
    Many thanks Craig
Great photos, can i ask were did you get the display cases for your wbritain limited editions from? they look like a great idea for displaying some of the earlier models.
    Cheers Craig.
Hi thanks for showing your excellent and varied collection, very well displayed. Can I ask, did you paint the flats yourself ? I don't collect flats, but I do like them.
    Cheers John
Very nice displays, Can you tell us what you mounted the Britains Limited editions in? Is it a frame with the box as the backing? I think there are many folks who would be interested in this method of displaying some sets especially with limited display space.
    All the best

Marcus, thanks for the comments. I've posted the 4 last pictures. The Hiriart elephants has not full round legs that give it a strange look. I let you know if I come accross an UTF elephants gatling gun... but it may be in some years :)
    Kind regards,
    Michel
Hello Marcus, I've also an interest in elephants battery or 'working' elephants (as opposed to Durbar sets). I will try to post soon some more pictures. Sorry I didn't bought the sets from UTF directly so I don't know the original retail price. Kind regards, Michel
I think they look pretty good Marcus. They are not up to First Legion standards but good nonetheless. I have pre-ordered a couple of the EOI cavalry to go with some of the foot legionaries so I will know more soon. I just EOI figures were not so small (or Patriot so large:(). However, they seem worth having on their own merit. Anything new for you?
    Cheers, Bill
Congratulations Marcus; a new dealer no less. That may make it more difficult for you to ration your purchases.:D

I am not familar with the new BBG releases, what do you mean by those?

I am pretty much on hold at the moment with the delays from China. I am adding to the Conte plastic Spartans to fill out my metal ranks. I am still waiting for cavalry and Brits from First Legion, ZW figures from Conte and Romans from EoI; it could be a long wait.:( I may try a couple CS Naps as a stop gap but I don't care for the faces based on the pictures.
    Hi Marcus,
I can appreciate your dilemma. Fortunately for my budget, the K&C offerings do not contain any temptations for me. My only interest in WWII in this scale is in warbirds. Someday, I may get around to their Crusaders but I have the Conte Zulu and East of India Romans in mind first, not to mention the FL Naps.
    Cheers, Bill
Thanks for the friend request Marcus, it is my pleasure to accept. I am sorry to tempt you with the First Legion Cuirassiers but I do think they will be spectacular. I know the CS ones are likely to be available first and while they appear to be nice, I don't think they will be as good as the FL ones. I intend to maybe try one and maybe a 3 figure Guard set but will save my budget for the FL releases. I wouldn't cry in the unlikely event they sell out the line in sets before offering them individually on the site.
    Cheers, Bill
Marcus, thank you for your friendship request, it is a honor and pleasure to count you among my friends on this forum. The gloss toy soldiers really are spectacular aren't they! As to the elephant batteries they are some of the most unique and interesting pieces out there. Like your Gordon Relief Camels, they represent an interesting diversion from the usual artillery sets. I also enjoy the gloss bands of the various units and nations. I see you have K&Cs WWI Germans in your picture albums, do you plan on aquiring their Uhlans? I also started this range and am hoping for some early armor variants as well as a band.

    Cheers, Ken
Great albums! That TRADITION Gordon Relief Expedition is very sharp. Thanks for sharing pictures of your wonderful collection:). I've got to brush up my photography skills and get some pics added to my albums:eek:.

    Cheers, Ken
Thanks for taking the time to share your extensive collection Marcus. You have some beautiful figures and vehicles indeed. I of course, especially like your Napoleonic figures. I do think you need some of these though:

Also, depending on this whole mess in China, they have some nice Guard Cavalry coming as well.
I just realized I forgot to answer your London question. My wife would love to do that actually but I am not sure yet given some other things going on.
    Congratulations on your fine collection.
    Cheers, Bill
