N.F.L. 24-25 Season (11 Viewers)

Over at the music forum I belong to, which has many members posting about football (probably about 40 at any one time), no one has mentioned the halftime show — it’s about the game or other football news — yet when I come here that’s practically all you guys are talking about. Pretty strange. There is a game going on!

Good; the less that people talk about it, the better.

If Darnold channels his inner Nick Foles and has the game of his life, Seattle wins.

If the Patriots get pressure on him up the middle or by blitzing and he channels his inner Sam Darold, he of the 0-4 record/41 QB rating vs the Patriots, New England wins.

This game will come down to how Darnold plays, Maye just has to protect the ball and make his throws when they are there to be made, unlike he did vs Denver.

How's that for football talk?

George:

You just perfectly said what this game will come down to in a 20 second read.

Meanwhile, networks like ESPN and the NFL Network have spent weeks saying these things while over stating everything.

Over and over and over and over.

Even as I type this they are analyzing the length of the grass on the field and how it will affect relative humidity which could make some players easier to tackle.

My anticipation for the SB today is reaching epic proportions. Most looking forward to being able to take my car to an empty car wash while everyone watches the game. It's been impossible to get in due to the winter weather.

Oh I forgot. Somehow LC Greenwood is still not in the HOF. F the NFL otherwise know as Not F'N Legit.

I used to love pro football. I followed the football Cardinals then the Rams when they came to St louis but a few years back things have completely changed. I can't remember in the last 10 years that I watched for any length of time an NFL game,. Several reasons. When the Ferguson riots happened a bunch of Rams players knelt and raised their arms "hands up, don't shoot" when they ran onto the field. Now this is simply personal. My grandaughter was a Rams cheerleader for 2 years then on the 3rd year try outs tryouts she didn't make the team. Then the final blow when the Rams packed up and moved to LA. That sealed the deal. I would rather watch bowling or curling than an NFL game.

You are not missing much. This game is fugly so far. The Pats O-line is getting pushed around. Could come down to a turnover. Seattle should run the ball. Darnold is a turnover machine. He might lose it.

If things continue like this, the Seachickens kicker or punter might win the MVP. It reminds me a lot of the Rams-Pats 13-3 Super Bowl a few years ago. Darnold still scares me everything he tries to make a play. One fumble or INT can change the outcome.

Anything is possible but the Seahawks are red hot. No weaknesses. The Pats have played great defense. Maye has been awful, though. I'm going with Seattle 34 NE 10. These are more the Steve Grogan than Tom Brady Pats but maybe their run of luck holds and the Seattle team bus runs into a ditch. I would like to see Cooper Kupp go out with another ring.
Not a bad prediction. The thing about luck is that it always runs out. No knock on the Pats. They played the schedule they were given but they caught a ton of breaks this season. Maye is a decent QB but he came within one vote of the MVP when he should not have sniffed it. His O-line was terrible tonight and "First Round" Vrabel gave him no help but Maye stunk. I apologize to Grogan for the comparison. One of the worst offensive performances in SB history. It's not often that a team gets to lose the SB, MVP, and have their franchise coach and owner blackballed from the HOF in the same week.

Congrats to Seattle, they pantsed the Patriots, was never a game despite the Patriots defense bending but not breaking, Maye was beyond awful, he's either really hurt or he is not a prime time player, he sucked all post season as well.

Totally outcoached on both sides of the ball, Darnold was not great, but he did not turn the ball over, Maye had three turnovers that led to 17 points.

Awful, beyond awful, in a lot of ways worse than the 1986 beat down by the Bears, New England now has the most Super Bowl losses ever, GEGJ.

What a dreadful experience from a fan point of view, no sports talk for me for a week, I don't want to hear what any talking head locally or nationally has to say about that putrid performance.

I never watch the SB halftime show — never have — but if I was I wouldn’t be watching that Kid Rock garbage.
U2's halftime performance was the only one that resonated with me and came off as genuine rather than canned spectacle. It was interesting to me how U2 was able to take an entertainment slot that by design is essentially shallow and fake and made it into something meaningful.

George, I will just say no QB would have functioned well behind that OL. The LT and LG were both truly awful. So bad in fact, I bet that LT gets moved inside at some point soon. Yes, the Seattle D line is very stout. Still, that was atrocious, unacceptable OL play by NE throughout the game.

I watched Bad Bunny and I loved it. I just thought it was an awesome show, a tribute to Hispanic culture. I lived in Uruguay when I was a kid and when he mentioned all the countries but especially Uruguay as being part of America that got me out of my seat.

Unfortunately that was the best thing all night as the game was poor. Not a Pats fan but since I follow the 49ers not really a Seahawks fan. I was hoping NE would make it interesting. They almost did but the Seattle defense was too much. The thrashing the 49ers received from them was no accident.

I think the pre-game show was 5 hours, much longer than the game itself.

That's not too far off for football, college as well as NFL, on the radio, at least. During the regular season, the Eagles pregame for a 1PM kickoff starts at 10AM on their flagship station. Same thing for Penn State. Of course, there are probably tailgate parties going on at the time and those folks are tuning in.

Prost!

Yeah great, too bad it wasn't in English so that those who didn't live Uruguay like you did could understand what he was singing.

I actually didn’t get all the words and you didn’t have to know the words to appreciate the show. I’m not all that familiar with his music but he’s very popular worldwide and I’m sure a lot of people don’t understand what he’s saying. It was the same in the 60s where rock was popular worldwide but not everyone understood the lyrics.
