Andy Keeping it under his hat

I understand that the Arnhem series is in line for a makeover (like the Iwo, Romans & Barbarians). I've also heard of the Alamo getting a makeover. If Chris has anything to do with it, it will be ancients of some sort. There is a upcoming movie about Thermopolie, perhaps it will be Spartans vs...

Does participation in this forum increase your spending?

No. This just an outlet to see what other collectors are doing. Just about any store/website will give you the same information about upcoming releases. The forum doen't drive my interest, my interest drove me here.

    Breaking up sets?

This practice is good for the collector on several levels. Replacement of damaged pieces and value of complete sets. When a dealer breaks up a set, it removes it from the market as an item of collectible value so, those remaining complete sets go up in value as the number drops due to the broken...

    Bored Tonight...Post a Diorama, LOL

The 2 WWII pics are 1/1 scale reenactors playing Army. The Civil War shot of the cannon & crew is 1/6 scale.

    Breaking up sets?

I thought that dealers weren't supposed to break up the sets but, I ran across a site that is selling King & Country sets as sets or, the pieces of the sets as individuals. Is that kosher?

How about something a little larger: My Sideshow Toys Federal 6 pounder w/Confederate crew.

    Check your Passport

The joke is aboot (my Canadian spelling) what I expected, funny enough. When I was in Europe, I found the Dutch to be the nicest folks I encountered. I could barely get by in German but, the Dutch were loath to communicate in German (I can hardly blame them) but, I never had much trouble finding...

    Need Your Opinion Guys

IF, you asked the dealer to get them ALL for you, you need to buy them all. That would be the only honorable thing to do UNLESS, the dealer is willing to let you cherry pick them otherwise, buy only what you like. If you want to invest, go to the stock market.

    West Coaster

The Indian Vickers crew is something that has been sorely lacking. The international nature of the 8th Army is something that gets overlooked too often.

    Idea for new LAH set

If I recall correctly, Rudel flew into Berlin during the siege (according to his book "Stuka Pilot). The LAH line does include many pre-war personalities/figures. I grant that it has been more of a parade line. Perhaps the Fall of Berlin line would be a better venue. I like the idea of the towed...

    Idea for new LAH set

I'm not hung up on the dead Hitler, it was just one possibility. An alternative might be Hitler, reviewing the HJ Berlin defenders, pinching the cheek of the young boy he is sending off to die? Rather than after the suicide, the moment before? I suppose that I am hung up on doing a Hitler, at...

    Idea for new LAH set

Normally, I would agree about dead & wounded sets but, a personality set like this would have a greater appeal. There is already 3 Hitlers at various stages of the war. Early war (on the balcony) mid-war (in the staff car) late war (in the overcoat). The final scene in the bunker would be the...

    Idea for new LAH set

The intent of the thread here, is not to discuss the right or wrong of it, the LAH line ALREADY exists. The point is a possible addition to a popular line (and it is popular). If you don't like them and wouldn't collect them, please take you your negative comments elsewhere, we get it. Can we...

    Military & Collecting Soldiers

I look back fondly on my time in the service. There were times, like the rest of you, when it was less than enjoyable. With a very few exceptions, I have only met guy who remember their service fondly and would do it again. It never dampened my enjoyment of military history and the collecting of...

    Idea for new LAH set

As usual, some folks just don't get it. I used the term zealot for a reason. Most of us (I'm sure there is the odd pro nazi out there in the closet) are anti nazi but, we understand their place in history and don't activate over a line of toy soldiers on a store shelf. The zealot would be a...

    Idea for new LAH set

I've heard that Andy is very fond of the movie "Downfall". How about some LAH sets of the last days in the bunker. They could do Adolph, Eva and the dogs being discovered by the SS guards after the final act. Perhaps it might be a little too ghoulish? Might help the store owners who have to put...

Where do you get paints and brushes?

Where's he from? Unless you have a knowledge of the stuff in the first place, it isn't something you want to just order sight unseen. The level of expertise is another limiting factor. It's good to have a shop where there is someone who has knowledge that can spend some time to explain things...

    How to Spike a Cannon

Yes, spiking a gun was the practice of driving a spike into the touch hole. It later became a term that was universally used to mean the rendering useless of any gun.
