THE LAIR---Charlotte Kirk (THE RECKONING) and Jamie Bamber (BATTLESTAR GALACTICA) star in Neil Marshall's new horror movie about a female RAF pilot who is shot down over Afghanistan. She seeks refuge in an underground bunker inhabited by flesh-eating human/alien hybrid creatures. When she escapes and is flown to a US Army base, the creatures follow her.

AQUAMAN AND THE LOST KINGDOM---producer Peter Safran said fan campaigns to fire Amber Heard from the sequel are being ignored, “I don’t think we’re ever going to react to, honestly, pure fan pressure. You gotta do what’s best for the movie. We felt that if it’s [director] James Wan and [star] Jason Momoa, it should be Amber Heard. That’s really what it was.
One is not unaware of what is going on in the Twitter-verse, but that doesn’t mean you have to react to it or take it as gospel or accede to their wishes. You have to do what’s right for the film, and that’s really where we landed on it.”
Many fans have criticized Heard after her controversial divorce from Johnny Depp.

THE EXPENDABLES 4---Sylvester Stallone posted a photo hinting the latest sequel is underway, "Just finished the [sic] designing the new ring for EXPENDABLE 4 It’s a little heavy, but it’ll definitely put some muscles on your fingertips."

BLACK WIDOW---sources claim Scarlett Johansson blames Walt Disney head Bob Chapek for the movie being released theatrically and on Disney+, which reduced ticket sales and lowered Johansson's share of ticket sales. Johannson had expressed concern to Disney in 2019, a year before the pandemic, and Disney assured her BLACK WIDOW would be released only in theaters. When Warner Bros. premiered its movies in theaters and streaming due to the pandemic, it renegotiated its contracts with the actors. Disney did not attempt to renegotiate Johansson's BLACK WIDOW contract.
Reportedly, Chapek's predeccessor, Bob Iger is "mortified" about Johansson's lawsuit. TheWrap quoted sources that the lawsuit has created a rift between Iger and Chapek, "It seems that Iger either intentionally allowed Chapek to shoot himself in the foot with Johansson’s team by failing to step in and negotiate an alternative to a lawsuit, or that he is so disconnected from his successor that he was not in the loop to step in as he usually would." A Disney representative denied reports of the rift.
Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige is "angry and embarrassed” about Disney not settling the situation earlier which led to Johansson''s lawsuit.

DOCTOR WHO---J. Michael Straczynski (BABYLON 5) replied to a fan about his interest in succeeding Chris Chibnall as DOCTOR WHO's new showrunner, "I don't know if the BBC would ever consider an American to show-run #DoctorWho, but if so, I would be there in a heartbeat. (Well, technically two heartbeats, since two hearts....)"
Joe Hill, Stephen king's son, said he once submitted several ideas for DOCTOR WHO to the BBC and received an unpleasant reply which emphasized that only British writers had ever written for the series.

THE MIGHTY DUCKS---Disney+ renewed the revival series for Season 2.

THE DAYS OF ABANDONMENT---HBO cancelled the movie based on the novel because Natalie Portman exited due to “unforeseen personal reasons.”

TRIVIA---Quentin Tarantino said Uma Thurman hated her yellow costume in KILL BILL: VOLUME 1, “Uma hated the yellow tracksuit. Hated it. Didn't get it. Thought she looked like a Popsicle -- a banana Popsicle. She was just not into it. She had no idea who Bruce Lee, practically. I finally had to show her GAME OF DEATH. She sorta kind of got it. Now, since then it's become this totally iconic thing. And she probably doesn't even remember it, But she was like, ‘You're trying to make me look like a clown!’”

I would think Emma Stone and Scarlett Johannson have a pretty good case against Disney. Makes a huge difference to box office if bring out on streaming on same day. A large family might pay for streaming but that is significantly less than what they would pay in the cinema.

Do people still go out to movies? I read Johannson made $20M from the movie.

DUNE---Jason Momoa commented on the Denis Villeneuve two-part movie, “It was a cool movie. You know what they need to do? They need to make the four-to-six hour version of the first half. It’s like, ‘Let’s watch the four-to-five-hour movie like a TV show; I can choose when I want to watch the whole thing.’ I want to see Denis’s whole vision. I don’t want it to be trimmed.”
Momoa also defended superhero movies after Martin Scorsese criticized them, "It’s like how people say that music is poppy and this music cool. But you know how hard it is just to get your music out there for people to hear? It’s all subjective. I try not to pick on anything. So, yeah, superhero movies are bubble gum, but they’re like Greek mythology: They have good and evil and heartbreaking moments. And, gosh, you’re taking away other art forms if you stop making them. You’re taking away visual effects, you’re taking away what you can do with makeup. I’m not someone who gets hired to play in a lot of cinema, but by being able to do a superhero movie, I can make a movie about something I really care about. I have a vision for the whole totality of Aquaman. There are environmental issues that I get to put into it. So while you’re going, ‘Oh yeah, it’s just this popcorn movie,’ I’m like, ‘Well, I get to open people’s eyes to things that are important to me.’"

DUNE-2-FOTOR.jpg

MARVEL STUDIOS---James Gunn commented on Martin Scorsese's criticism of Marvel Studios superhero movies while promoting his movie, THE IRISHMAN, “I just think it seems awful cynical that he would keep coming out against Marvel — and then that is the only thing that would get him press for his movie. He’s creating his movie in the shadow of the Marvel films, and so he uses that to get attention for something he wasn’t getting as much attention as he wanted for it.”

THE RAVAGERS---James Gunn said he wants to develop a tv series based on The Ravagers, the interstellar crime group from the GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, “I always thought The Ravagers would be a great show. Whether that was with Sly Stallone’s Ravagers or even more in-depth with just the pirates and what they were doing. I told Kevin Feige that when he first visited set when we were on the Ravagers ship for GUARDIANS 1, I said we should make a Ravagers show. He said if this movie’s a hit you can do whatever you want. Still no Ravagers show, so I don’t know what happened.”

RAVAGERS-FOTOR.jpg

CHRONICLE---producer John Davis commented on the reboot of the 2012 movie, “We’re working on CHRONICLE 2 right now, and I think it’s going to be great. We’re working on it at Fox (20th Century Studios). It’s going to give us a chance to tell the story in a different way. We’re going to tell it from the female point of view.
It will have been ten years since the event happened in Seattle, and a lot of it’s going to deal with fake news and real news and cover-ups. More interestingly, it’s the next generation getting these powers that are corruptive.
These are young women just finishing college, they are empowered, and this is their journey. I mean, what a new and interesting story you can tell there.”

IMPEACHMENT: AMERICAN CRIME STORY---Cobie Smulders will play Ann Coulter in the FX series based on the Bil Clinton/Monica Lewinsky scandal. Betty Gilpin withdrew due to a schedule problem.

OVERLOOK---HBO Max has shelved the JJ Abrams THE SHINING spinoff series. Netflix might pick it up instead.

[The actors] got so good that the footage of Val Kilmer, firing in two directions and doing a reload without a cut, they used that at Fort Bragg for Special Forces training.”

BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA---Dwayne Johnson commented on the status of the sequel to the John Carpenter movie that starred Kurt Russell, “It’s still an ambition of ours but unfortunately there are complications that come with a legacy property like that which has so much attached to it from over the years.
We have a really fun idea on what we’d want to do with it, especially since our goal was never to remake BIG TROUBLE but simply continue it. Similar to what we did with JUMANJI we would continue the story and make sure the original stands on it’s own since it means so much to us and fans all around the world.
So needless to say we are still working on making that happen but as with any great project the road is not easy but we are sticking to it! We’re going to figure out a way to continue the story of BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA.”

BIG-TROUBLE-LITTLE-CHINA-FOTOR.jpg

RAMBO---Quentin Tarantino talked about a possible remake of RAMBO "If I just wanted to make a good movie, that I knew would be good, I would take David Morrell's novel for First Blood and do the novel. Not the movie that was made out of First Blood. I would do the novel. And Kurt Russell would play the sheriff, and [Adam Driver] would play Rambo. Every time I read it, the dialogue is so fantastic in the David Morrell novel that you're reading it out loud. It would be so good. But now I want to do more than that. But if it was just about to make a good movie, that's out there."

RAMBO-1.jpg

STAR TREK---writer Mark L. Smith (THE REVENANT) commented on the now-cancelled STAR TREK movie he and Quentin Tarantino were working on, “They just called me and said, ‘Hey, are you up for it? Do you want to go? Quentin wants to hook up.’ And I said, ‘Yeah.’ And that was the first day I met Quentin, in the room and he’s reading a scene that he wrote and it was this awesome cool gangster scene, and he’s acting it out and back and forth. I told him, I was so mad I didn’t record it on my phone. It would be so valuable. It was amazing.
Then just we started working. I would go hang out at his house one night and we would watch old gangster films. We were there for hours… We were just kicking back watching gangster films, laughing at the bad dialogue, but talking about how it would bleed into what we wanted to do
Kirk’s in it, we’ve got him. All the characters are there. It would be those guys. I guess you would look at it like all the episodes of the show didn’t really connect. So this would be almost its own episode. A very cool episode. There’s a little time travel stuff going on. There’s all this other… it’s really wild.”
The Tarantino movie resembles the plot of the original STAR TREK episode "A Piece Of The Action".

STAR-TREK-FOTOR.jpg

HALLOWEEN---James Jude Courtney, who played Michael Myers in the 2018 movie, commented on a deleted scene, "There’s a scene that we shot for the ending of 2018 that we didn’t use. It was a big fight scene between Jamie and I. In that fight scene, and keep in mind, we’re doing 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 takes of things sometimes. So the scene where I’m holding a blade down like this and I throw her around and she swings the rifle like a baseball bat and I was like 'Oh *****. This isn’t gonna be good.’ She hit it, the knife, and I was like ‘well that was a good shot.’ 30 takes and she never missed one. 30 takes. And she swung it like she was going for the fence."

STAR WARS---Taika Waititi commented on the status his upcoming STAR WARS, “It’s still in the ‘EXT. SPACE’ stage. But we’ve got a story. I’m really excited by it because it feels very me. I tend to go down that little sincerity alleyway in my films. I like to fool the viewer into thinking ‘ha it’s this’ and then them going, ‘**** it, you made me feel something!'”

THE FLASH---Michael Keaton commented on putting on the Batsuit for the first time in almost 30 years, “It was shockingly normal. It was weird. I was like, ‘Oh, oh yeah, that’s right.’ But then you also start to play the scenes and it’s a lot of memories. A lot of memories. A lot of interesting things like sense memories actually.”

FLASH-FOTOR.jpg

BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY---Queen member Brian May said a sequel is being considered, “We are looking at it. Yeah, we have been looking at ideas. It’s going to be hard to follow that one as none of us could have predicted how massive that was going to be. We put a lot of heart and soul into making it and no one could have predicted [its success] as it was bigger than GONE WITH THE WIND. But yes, we are thinking maybe it could happen, but it would have to be a great script. It’s going to take a while to figure that out.”

SPIDER-MAN---Tom Hardy said he is lobbying for a Spider-Man and Venom crossover movie, “I would be remiss if I wasn’t trying to steer any kind of connectivity. I wouldn’t be doing the job if I wasn’t awake and open to any opportunity or eventuality or be excited by that.
Obviously, that’s a large canyon to leap, to be bridged by one person alone, and it would take a much higher level of diplomacy and intelligence, sitting down and talking, to take on an arena such as that.
Should both sides be willing, and it be beneficial to both sides, I don’t see why it couldn’t be."

MARVEL STUDIOS---executive producer Brad Winderbaum said Marvel is working on "multiple" animated tv projects for Disney+.

HELLRAISER---director David Bruckner commented on the reboot movie, "All I’ll say is that we are aiming to be as true as we can to the original material. [Clive Barker’s original story] 'The Hellbound Heart' is also a primary source of inspiration, as well as the original film. But then it is something of a small reimagining and we are currently working on it."

HOME SWEET HOME ALONE---the Disney+ tv series based on HOME ALONE will premiere on November 12.

TRIVIA---Steven Spielberg sent his script for CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND to NASA hoping for an endorsement, "I had wanted co-operation from them, but when they read the script they got very angry and felt it was a film that would be dangerous. I think they mainly wrote the letter because JAWS convinced to many people around the world that there are sharks in toilets and bathtubs, not just in the oceans and rivers. They were afraid the same kind of epidemic would happen with UFOs."

DUNE: PART TWO---Denis Villeneuve said the main character for the second movie will be Chani (Zendaya), “I can’t wait to shoot the second part of Dune to get [Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya] back together. Knowing that in the next chapter, Zendaya will be the protagonist of the story.”

DUNE.jpg

ALIEN---FX head John Landgraf commented on the upcoming Noah Hawley tv series, "I think Noah’s very conscious of the fact that there’s a cinematic universe. [There’s] some inventiveness and originality that is uniquely Noah… [but] I think you’ll also see that the show will feel like a part of the cinematic universe you’re familiar with in terms of ALIEN.”
He added that the tv series is, “a beast… a really big, world-building exercise.”

GREEN LANTERN---director Martin Campbell (CASINO ROYALE) said he is partly to blame for the failure of the 2011 DC Comics superhero movie, “But you know what? The film did not work, really. That’s the point, and I’m partly responsible for that. I shouldn’t have done it. Because with something like Bond – I love Bond, and I watched every Bond film before I ever directed it. Superhero movies are not my cup of tea, and for that reason, I shouldn’t have done it. But directors always have to carry the can for the failures. What do they say? Success has many fathers; failure has one. And that’s me.”

GREEN-LANTERN-FOTOR.jpg

THE BOYS---showrunner Eric Kripke commented on Season 3, “Season 3 delves a lot more into the history of how we got here through this character of Soldier Boy. We were able to dig into both the history of the country and also really look at toxic masculinity, and masculine roles, and what a s—show that’s overall caused. This whole f—ing, independent Marlboro man thing.”

ZERO FAIL---tv series underway based on the book about failings of the Secret Service beginning with John F. Kennedy's assassination.

MacGRUBER---Billy Zane will play villain Brigadier General Enos Queeth.

While filming locations in Japan for YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE, producers Cubby Broccoli and Harry Saltzman, director Lewis Gilbert, production designer Ken Adam and cinematographer Freddie Young were scheduled to fly on BOAC Flight 911 from Tokyo to Hong Kong. Two hours before Flight 911 was to depart, the movie crew accepted an unscheduled invitation to a ninja demonstration and missed the flight.
Twenty-five minutes after Flight 911 took off, it disintegrated in mid-air due to clear-air turbulence over Mount Fuji, killing all 124 people on board.
Ironically, when Flight 911 took off from Tokyo International Airport, it taxied past the smoldering wreckage of Canadian Pacific Air Lines Flight 402 which crashed the night before due to poor visibility with only eight survivors out of 72 people on board.

DUNE: PART TWO---Denis Villeneuve said he is writing the PART TWO script and added, “We have been hearing in the past few decades that it’s not possible to adapt this book and that it’s an impossible task. I think that in the back of the mind of the studio, it’s still the same. So the first thing was to prove that there was a beautiful, popular movie that can exist, and I think that I proved that – everybody at Warner Bros and Legendary, they are 100 percent behind the project. They feel that it would need a really bad outcome at the box office to not have a DUNE: PART TWO, because they love the movie. They are proud of the movie, so they want the movie to move forward. And they still did half of it. So, you know, I’m very optimistic.”

AQUAMAN AND THE LOST KINGDOM---James Wan said THE LOST KINGDOM was inspired by the 1965 Mario Bava horror movie PLANET OF THE VAMPIRES which also inspired ALIEN, “Well, the first movie took a lot of people by surprise, right? And that’s partially because they were not familiar with the comic book, which deals in this very lurid, strange world. People were taken aback that I didn’t throw all that stuff away and make a dark, heavy film. But I didn’t feel that would have been right for it. So with the second film, I feel it will be easier for people to accept where we go because I’ve already laid the foundation.”

He loves the movie, which he has seen four times so far. And every time he calls me to tell me how happy he is. It is true that if Joe [Joe Walker, the editor] and I had let go, we could have done a version of several hours because I filmed a lot. But the final version is really the one that ends up on the screen. I have never done a director's cut of any of my films."

BLACK PANTHER: WAKANDA FOREVER---Dominique Thorne will play Ironheart in the sequel.

He asked me if I wanted to write a novelization of SECRET WARS.” Shooter rejected the offer which led to a phone call from Marvel Studios Vice President of Operations & Procurement David Bogart, who said Marvel wanted to buy the rights to SECRET WARS. DUNE-FOTOR.jpg

ALIEN 5---Neill Blomkamp half-joked that Ridley Scott canceled Blomkamp's ALIEN 5 because his CHAPPIE sci fi movie bombed, “It’s possible that Ridley watched CHAPPIE and he was like, this guy can’t do Alien so let’s just go ahead and move on."
Blomkamp also said, “My assumption is that it’s completely dead. It was a case of both projects were moving forward at Fox simultaneously and one of them was picked. Fox just clearly doesn’t want it. I haven’t had anything to do with that for years.”
Blomkamp added, “I also felt bad for Sigourney [Weaver] because she was really into what I had brought forward. I felt like [for] audiences who loved Aliens, there was an opportunity to do one more film with Sigourney in a way that may have satiated what people were looking for and what I think I was looking for. What doesn’t make sense is that I feel like it’s what the audience wanted so it’s strange because Fox would never really turn down money.”

Next time you come to a screen test, really focus hard on making sure you lean up if it's for something like Bond.' And I wasn't by any means chubby, but I was probably overweight for taking my shirt off on camera."

MEGALOPOLIS---THE GODFATHER team of Francis Ford Coppola and James Caan will reunite for Coppola's epic movie. Oscar Issac, Jon Voight, Cate Blanchett and Forest Whitaker are in talks to co-star with Caan. Other cast candidates include Michelle Pfeiffer, Jessica Lange and Zendaya.
Coppola said, “The concept of the film is a Roman epic, in the traditional Cecile B. DeMille or BEN-HUR way, but told as a modern counterpart focusing on America. It’s based on The Catiline Conspiracy, which comes to us from ancient Rome. This was a famous duel between a patrician, Catiline, and that part will be played by Oscar Isaac, and the famous Cicero, who will be Forest Whitaker. He is now the beleaguered mayor of New York, during a financial crisis, close to the one that Mayor Dinkins had. This story takes place in a new Rome, a Roman epic sent in modern times. The time set is not a specific year in modern New York, it’s an impression of modern New York, which I call New Rome.”

ALIEN 5---Neill Blomkamp commented on if he is interested in resurrecting his cancelled sequel, "It was a case of both projects [Ridley Scott’s prequel and Blomkamp’s sequel] were moving forward at Fox simultaneously, and one of them was picked. Sigourney [Weaver] was unbelievably supportive and amazing. I have nothing but the best things to say about Sigourney. I’m such a fan of hers on every level. She was always into the project, but Fox just clearly doesn’t want it. I haven’t had anything to do with that for years. I wonder if it’s possible to do an entire loop, where you’re really into it up until the point it gets shut down, then you lose interest and years go by and you loop all the way back around to being really into it again. Maybe that’s hypothetically possible.”

DOWNTON ABBEY---a British tabloid claims a major character will be killed off in the movie based on the tv series. A source said, "Those who have seen the scenes said they are so emotional.
