Hi Guys,

Our good friend “Cornwallis” posted a set of excellent pix of his Rev. War set up that has to be one of the most inspired dioramas I’ve seen in a long time…. A great mix of lots of figures plus a skillful use of background 2-dimensional “flats” to bulk up the scene… masterfull and very well done!

So, it got me looking at some of my own collection and wondering how I could produce a little scene with a fair number of different figures – both current and “retired”. And this is what I came up with… “1914 Marching To War” – the scene shows Kaiser Bill together with some Generals and Crown Prince “Willi” observing a column of grey-clad infantry heading through Belgium.

In the background is a damaged little church which has rec’d a few random artillery shells. (I built the structure out of card and old cornflakes packets and other bits ‘n’ bobs). A few WW1 K&C vehicles surround the church including the Kaiser’s “Staffwagen” which has a table set under the attached awning for a simple buffet lunch… Elsewhere one of the German invaders attempts to comfort a local resident… Well that’s his story and he’s sticking to it!

All in all lots of fun playing with my toy soldiers… hope you like it.

All the best and…happy collecting!

Andy C.

Modesty aside, thats a pretty amazing efffort from some odd bits of card, a cornflakes packet and a few bits & bobs....{bravo}}

I have always had a special place in my heart for K&C WW I dioramas.

I think one of my favorite parts is the small dog near the cannons! It truly is the small things that bring great dioramas to life.....

Andy mate well done on the 'CORN FLAKES' church, now that you have gone down the Great War road with this lovely dio don't stop there, lets see some new vehicles and artillery(British/A.I.F) set up around that church......:wink2:{sm4}
Wayne.

Excellent - so good you could do it for a living!

Don't tell him that Jack, you'll put Waynepoo out of a job! {sm4}

Awesome church Andy, although you must have quite a few Corn Flakes packets lying around...:rolleyes2:{sm4}

Very impressive what you can do with some "cards and old cornflakes packets and other bits ‘n’ bobs" {sm3}
I always think to complicated when I want to build a structure. I'm impressed. Have to buy cornfalkes tonight ...

The amount of marching troops is stunning. I love it. A very nice setup.
Also it helps when you've got easy access to a number of TS. {sm2}

Thanks for sharing this with us, Andy.

Wow, nice setup. Love the display. And that church is fantastic!! You are VERY talented!

Walt

Please produce that church!!!!!!
Alternatively, I will trade you a whole crate of cereal for it.

Looks like all here like and appreciate your posting Andy :smile2: Awesome scene and like the others have mentioned.....check out that scratch built church {bravo}}

Fantastic scene, and even more fantastic centerpiece! The church is an extraordinary piece, never thought “card and old cornflakes packets and other bits ‘n’ bobs” could result in such an engineering accomplishment! That’s beyond talent, it’s a gift! How about getting some more cereal packs & etc and release it as part of the SP family?...^&grin I’m sure these churches would invade the homes of many, many K&C collectors worldwide!{bravo}}

I'd buy that church building if ever produced! Awesome job Andy.....

Love churches and this is one of the best, the only thing that bothered me was the stark colour. Sought of looks like the building is in its primed state. For me just a hint of some other realistic paint colour needs to be added to make it perfect. Would be great to view some other angles also. Cheers, Robin.

...and what would a church like that go for, if you were to create a mold and say.....sell it?

Hey Andy if and when we meet mate we could empty a few cartons of beer and you could whip something up,church,farm,pub im easy....................^&grin
Great set up mate wouldn't mind going over your house to play..............{eek3}^&grin:wink2:

Wonderful work Andy, thanks for sharing!:smile2: I LOVE the scratch made church (from "card and old cornflakes packets..."{eek3}) as the marching Germans curl around it. Great vision and story telling.

Joe
