2017 Baseball Season: Let's Play Two! (1 Viewer)

Red Sox won again today 15-1, sweeping the Blue Jays and gaining another game on the MFY's, they are now up 3 in the AL East.

Yet another quality start from Pomeranz; couple that with Sale, who's been lights out and Price who's looked good in his last two outings.

If they can just get Porcello straitened out and ERod healthy, look out................................

Today the MFY's traded some tomato can named Matt Wortherspoon to the LET'S GO O'S!! for "international cap money"..................guaranteed that by the end of the year, "international cap money" will end up hitting 42 home runs at Williamsport East for the MFY's.

Book it.

It looks like the Yankees are slipping from contenders. Unless they arrest the pronounced slide they're in, they could fall out of the WC as well.

The O's Gausman finally seems to be coming around and just as assuredly Wade Miley has gone in the dumper. In his last 6 starts, he is 1-4, with 22.1 innings pitched, 41 hits allowed and 31 earned runs scoring. Cripes, can the O's find any decent pitchers for a stretch run? Miley has just been horrid. -- Al

Good lord, the Nats bullpen sucks. Even though they managed to win 3-2, they blew their 14th save of the season. Just bleepin' awful and still nothing is being done. -- Al

As a Giants fan I am thankful for the Blue Jays. Baseball analysts keep talking about them as the biggest disappointment of 2017. If it weren't for them the Giants would be the at the top of that list.

Do you think you have the only insight into this problem? That WN Mgmt and FO are clueless?

Somehow I suspect Nat leadership is more than well aware, but has yet to find an attractive solution. Or perhaps you know of competent relievers just sitting there for the taking? Send them an email....

Every team has to deal with weaknesses. Nats have plenty of strengths. Coming down the stretch I'm sure they'll do what is necessary to try and secure a championship. Like any other team.

Effective relievers don't grow on trees and teams out of contention aren't willing to trade them without exacting a tidy bounty. Come the trading deadline, the point of no return, I'm sure the Nationals will cross the Rubicon and pay the price. If they're not willing to pay that price, well, they will pay it in the playoffs.

They won last night, notwithstanding the pen, so you should be more than content with that.

The Red Sox beat the Rangers in extras last night 7-5; Kimbrel gave up the game tying home run to Napoli in the bottom of the ninth (THE one pitch this corpse can still turn on is a high fastball and Kimbrel threw him a room service one to start the bottom of the ninth), but the Red Sox pulled it out largely because the Rangers bullpen is a hot mess.

And today the MFY's lost 4-1; Quasimodo hit yet another home run, a solo shot, he also whiffed 3 times to go over the century mark for K's on July 4th (holy Christ, 102 K's in less than three months). The MFY pitching was perfect for 8 2/3rds innings, but in the bottom of the 4th with 2 out and no one on, they imploded and the Blue Jays scored 4 runs.

Just give Judge the HR title, ROY, ugliest home run champ ever, whatever; wait until the league figures out how to pitch to him, anyone who whiffs 102 times has a gigantic hole in his swing, it's up to opposing pitching coaches to find it.

But hey, look on the bright side MFY fans; you can always trade Bentances and Chapman, stockpile a **** ton of can't miss prospects and then get them back in the off season.........................in a lot of ways, I hope the MFY's are still hanging around for a wild card spot come trade deadline time so that Cashman will pull some boneheaded trade and unload all of the talent in that spectacular minor league system I hear so much about 24/7/365..................................

If the Nats could play the Mets everyday they'd be a lock cinch to win the WS. It looks like the Mets will be sellers come the deadline. The Nats could do worse than picking up Addison Reed, if the Mets decide to part with him, particularly since Familia may be back soon.

The Giants are a cautionary tale when it comes to closers. In order to solve their 2016 reliever woes they signed Mark Melancon to a 4 year /$62,000,000 contract this past off-season and so far in 22 games he is 1-2, with an ERA of 4.35 and 11 saves. On June 28th he was placed on the disabled list.

Red Sox win again, that's six in a row, up by 4 now on the MFY's, who've lost 15 of their last 21.

Price was lights out against this Rangers team, they're more like a softball team than a baseball team, their either whiff or hit the ball nine miles.

Oh and the Celtics signed Hayward tonight away from the Jazz.

So naturally ESPN leads with "Aaron Judge hit his 28 home run tonight in a 4-1 loss to Toronto"...........don't ever change ESPN, the network that led the Deflategate charge for almost two years running.

Oh and thanks to my ******* neighbor who for the past five nights has been lighting off fireworks for three hours a night; what did this jerkwhistle do, buy a box truck filled with explosives? It sounded like small arms fire most of the night, I was hoping that kid from the Iron Eagle movie would fly in and take out his house.

Have a ball, was hoping for a misfire followed by wailing ambulances, but no such luck..............................

"Hoping for a misfire followed by wailing ambulances". Absolutely classic. Made me laugh for the first time in a few days. Thanks. -- Al

Much like a misfire, sometimes my material goes over well, other times like a lead balloon......................glad I could make you laugh....................it could be worse, I could live in Chicago, where small arms fire this time of the year would be mistaken for fireworks, lulling people into a sense of false security and once they leave their homes thinking the coast is clear, they end up becoming a statistic............................

Yes, it certainly seems that the "Second City' is #1 in at least one category. What a mess. -- Al

I am just glad that ESPN did not lead with another "poor Kevin Durant has to get by on $24 mil" story.

The MFY's lost again today 7-6, Pine Tar Pineda got shelled, had two pitches going for him, balls and home runs, but thanks to Quasimodo hitting yet another home run, the MFY's stormed back, only to have Betances walk the ballpark and they lost, that's 16 of their last 22.

Hey AL East; LOOK OUT BELOW!!!!!!!!!

There you go Pete, just what the Doc ordered, a trip to Milwaukee .. O's had shown a glimmer of hope at the beginning of last week down to only 4 out at one point, fast forward one week later, the Brew Crew is a reincarnation of the great 80's team!!! wonder when Robin Yount is going to pinch hit a homerun??? 8.5 out and getting another whipping today :( at this rate might be a dumpster fire after the break, anyone need a HR hitter??? got plenty, come get'em while their cold!!!! pitching??? we got it all, take your pick, Gausman, Tillman, Bundy don't worry, they struggled this season but once they join another team they become 1st ballot Hall of Famers, take your pick.:mad::mad:

The Brewers are loaded with a lot of tough hitters. They are not easy to beat. I wonder if they have the ability to separate themselves from the rest of the NL Central. I think they're good but not that good.

Parker Bridwell, the pitcher the Angels picked up from the Os for a bag of balls, had another good start tonight, giving up 1 run over six innings. In his six starts this year, he's only thrown one stinker. Maybe a diamond in the rough.
